Interesting and entertaining discussion, but Chris really needs Larry. Chris is so low-signal-to-noise... I know people who are already convinced love Chris's rants, but he doesn't do much to convert the uninitiated. Larry is a master at digging that signal out of the noise floor and amplifying it without making anyone feel bad.
Stopped listening to QTR completely because he was shitting on BTC...haha here we go, good for him 👍

I think folks overlook why some people buy the ETFs. The only reason I bought FBTC, and will buy more asap, is that my money was already locked up in an IRA and I’m too young to withdraw it without paying the early withdrawal penalty. That said most of my Bitcoin is in self custody.

Love the show. I hope someone can answer this important question.. Let's say some entity that can print all the money they want decides to short bitcoin in the futures market continually. Couldn't they just suppress the $ price as long as they want? After all because the futures markets are cash settled, they can just keep buying with fiat at the expiry date.
Yes, the trick is to buy shitloads at x price, then buy high leverage shorts and sell the spot at x or less for a loss. Then clean up on the futures bet. rinse and repeat.
Yes, someone theoretically can do this but that would also decimate their local currency that they are printing at the same time. Is there a country out there that is fine with destroying themselves just to suppress the price of bitcoin?

Larry, Bitcoin is currently going through adoption cycles, regardless of money printing. It will appreciate by multiple factors in a cyclical fashion whether or not central banks print or not.
Government is not “just people”. It is an amalgamation of people, that takes on the most base and often best/worst characteristics of humankind (survive, multiply, expand, and dominate at any external cost). Additionally Government is a protected class of “person” that is immortal and is vested with Rights, Powers, and Privilege, not extended to individual citizens.
Governments and Corporations possess legal rights (monopoly on violence, currency counterfeiting), voting rights, and other protections (limited or no liability) and rights (intellectual property) that sometimes don’t even extend to people, or are taken from people. Add in the fact that Corporations and Governments are immortal. Governments and Corporations are a reflection of people and have done very well for themselves. Better, by far, than the Citizens that created them.
Saying govt is “just people” sounds like abject denial of reality. Maybe wishful thinking by someone with their head in the sand. Or an empty platitude uttered by a talking head, incentivized to make mouth noises on a per-click basis.

The problem I have with the BTC v gold debate is, it doesn't have to be an xor decision; why can't we make rational use of Sowell's tradeoffs mental model here? One thing I do know as a major problem on the gold side: if somebody wants your gold, they'll find it and take it, and you won't be able to do a goddam thing about it. Schiff doesn't talk about this at all, at least I haven't heard him address it. This alone makes gold a non-starter for the middle class, or what's fucking left of it.

How can people work for government? I'll tell you - most line, rank & file, non elected wage employees do a good job. They really do try to make a difference, using their expertise and education. Don't conflate elected politicians with worker bees, we really do need solid hard working brains in that business.

Big fan of BTC, and your interviews, but the flat earth economic perspective that’s been forecasting gloom and doom around the corner for decades has got to go. You should interview Stephanie Kelton in order to get a more accurate perspective of MMT, although keep in mind that her perspective is liberal and MMT isn’t political.
Expert doctors practiced bloodletting for decades after germ theory was developed. Reminds me of guys applying ancient Austrian economics to the current US financial system!

At 31:00, Larry talked about some guy who’s in his 60’s, house paid-off, no debt, modest lifestyle, and $2M saved-and he doesn’t feel comfortable retiring…. I mean, c’mon. Really?? That right there is NOT the money needing to be fixed; that’s the individual who needs fixing.
