    Great video, i also have a Caddy, i did use reflectics Tape over the stock trim roof, and put insulation / rubber matt stuff behind that in the gap. i didnt however put anything inside those air collums. i could not decide if its worth filling it with that spray liquid stuff. i put more rubber matting in the side doors and such. i also plan to keep the reflextics tape to make the lighting better.

    Thanks for your video. As a result of which I changed mine in vauxhall vivaro 2015 model. Twas a nightmare but this truly helped. As it happens the lights are now on whilst I drive (as there so bright I can see through gap in bulkhead), not sure if the originals were they were so ridiculously dim. That said, they work and produce fantastic light. I wanted to override their auto shut off by inserting a switch but its all over my head.

    If these were on foe a while like in a work van, would it drain the battery? or is it best running an alternative battery for all the lights. Thanks.

    Hi mate, im completey new to this and loving your videos to get me started on my combo, quick question but may be stupid, i see you soldered the cables when extending...if i dont have a solder gun could i crimp or use the little connector boxes and wrap with insulation tape ??

    I want to do the same kind of thing and I would know how to do what you have done or have them so they only some on with the door opening switch but is there any way to still have both? Like you would in the cab with a 3 way switch? I'd like to be able to open the door and the lights come on but also close the door while I'm in the van and switch the lights on. (I have a large transit that I use as a little on site workshop sometimes.)
    Thanks

    What do you use to stick the lights to the van I have a regular headliner and I’m wondering if I need to take it down and place it inside the headliner and then replace the headliner

    • @RustLocker
      @RustLocker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those led strips had adhesive strips on the back, which stick well, but probably not to carpet. The strips also have holes for using screws as well though.

    Nice video. Is there much drain on the battery.

    • @RustLocker
      @RustLocker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Bikerjon1 i added the switches so they wouldn’t stay on if I accidentally left a door ajar. So I haven’t had them on for any real length of time.
      I think you’d have to leave them on all night to see any noticeable drain.

    • @RustLocker

      My best advice would be to trace the wiring so you know what does what. Then add a switch to the light you want using the same method in the video.

    I have interior cargo light in my van with 3 way rocker switch, on/off/timer. How would I go about wiring these led’s to work along with the stock light?

    • @RustLocker
      @RustLocker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd splice the wires from your current light to wire up the new leds, that way they should all work together... BUT I'm not an electrician so do it at your own risk.

    • @liamr2419
      @liamr2419 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rust Locker only problem is the led’s have red & black wire, stock light has red, black and grey

    • @osiasu
      @osiasu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@liamr2419 I'm trying to achieve the same thing. You may have already solved this being that it was a year ago! But I'd imagine the grey wire is the switch wire going to the door opener switch so just leave that as it is and splice in to the red and black to connect your LEDs hopefully then your LEDs will come on with the door opener switch or the on switch that is on your stock light. My problem is my transit rear lights have no switch, they just come on with door opening but I was to be able to also switch them independently.
