Really great explanation, clear presentation, and clear style of delivery. I am leaving a comment because I know it help more than just clicking the "like" - which I've also done. Cheers from Canada, eh?
A quick question. Into your devices you have a type of connector, for example the positive wire that runs in and then out of the led light is connected by some connector. What would be the name for that ha. Many many thanks and great simple video!
Hi Dougie, With wiring as we are not installers this area isn't something we can really advise on. Other than items we sell and the intended installation for these we have to be careful to not advise outside of this especially when wiring and electrics are concerned. We have not had experience with the bulbs from these in any other light fitting and so really cannot answer this specifically Im afraid, apologies for this.
Add up the watts of all your lights you've wired in parallel (never in series) on the circuit to be fused, divide that figure by 12 (if it's a 12v battery you're using) and that's the amp draw so a fuse of 25% more than that figure would be sufficient. Always go up to the next nearest fuse size rather than down.
Hi great video got a question when exchanging cargo lights on VW T6 for dimatec lights on van wire loom its got 3 cables how should I wire this up cheers for any advice
The original VW courtesy lights have a more complex arrangement of terminals built into them to allow for the time delay when doors are closed etc. You can wire aftermarket lights in but you're best searching the forums for details as we have never done it.
Yes it is fine to have two wires going in one end and a single wire coming out the other. It is worth twisting the two copper wires together before inserting into the butt connector.
When you turn the light switch off, does it reset all lights to off ? i.e. when the switch is turned on again, does every individual light have to be touched again to turn on?
Thank you,The default is off. If you turn them on with a switch they remain off until they are touched, if you turn them off at the switch whilst on they will be off next time the switch is turned on.
I have bought a 12v LED roof light for my van to replace the existing. The existing has an in built switch and works fine but the replacement has no switch and does not respond to same live feed / Earth? Any suggestions gratefully received.
Hi William, Thank you for your contact. If you have the order number of the light you purchased and can send some details /photos of your set up over to our customer service team at help@kiravans.co.uk. We would be happy to take a look at this for you and help where we can. Thanks
Hi we tent to use Single Core 0.3mm 44 Strand Cable - For general wiring and Single Core 0.3mm 84 Strand Cable - For split charge relays. Hope this helps.
Thank you, but I have to make a small criticism on the way this is edited. Why pan out to a long shot of you when showing is the wiring in the distribution board. Its really frustrating as I try to pause to see the circuitry. You look great, but we need more close ups of the circuit. We don't need a long shot to heat you. This made the video unclear.
Finally a video where they don't waffle on and love the sound of their own voice
This is so helpful for a complete newbie to understand how the circuit works. You explain it so clearly Thank you 😊
No problem we are happy to help
YES! Thank you - this is the video I've been looking for! Simple and easy to follow.

Glad it was helpful!
This is an excellent, well-explained overview of basic 12V circuitry!
Thank you!
Another excellent video from Kiravans
Is the neagtive also known as Neutral?
Looking forward to your cable and yout crimping/splicing video! Hopefully soon
this is the video ive needed ! so simple and easy explantory thank you!
You're very welcome!
Do you need to earth this system or connect a fuse box?
Really helpful, thank you! Looking forward to the future videos.
thank you for the video! is it possible to run 12volt lights and switch in a caravan from through the 240volt output? thanks for your time !
The wire gauge will be interesting. I would like to use a LI battery and a solar panel mounted at the rear of my roof rack as they don't weigh much.
Having trouble finding the distribution board or anything remotely similar, even on your website. Any info on where to find this?
Do we have a product list for the items used? Thanks
A quick question. Into your devices you have a type of connector, for example the positive wire that runs in and then out of the led light is connected by some connector. What would be the name for that ha. Many many thanks and great simple video!
That's just a simple crimp on cable connector with the two live going in to one and connecting to the live from the light.
@@kiravans5874 thank you!
I have twin core though and the positive and negative are in one wire, how do I connect all the lights together
current limiting is achieved how in these circuits ?
I am trying to find the lights you push to turn on. Can you provide a link? thanks!
I connected the LEDS but not enough power is going through to the led. Do I need a bigger fuse?
great video! do you need specific 12v light fittings or can i simply put in 12v led bulbs into any old househld light fitting i install? cheers!

Great video, will there be more on this soon? Thanks
When selecting a fuse, do you have to add up the ampage of each led in the series? Or just use the lowest rated ampage?
Thanks.
Add up the watts of all your lights you've wired in parallel (never in series) on the circuit to be fused, divide that figure by 12 (if it's a 12v battery you're using) and that's the amp draw so a fuse of 25% more than that figure would be sufficient. I have 12 volt led lights in my shed. They work well and are safer than 240 volts.

Helped a ton, thank you!
very helpful thank you
Better showing on camera while you are pointing from front can't really see anything.
Thanks for creating this video
Wire for LED lights have a tiny diameter and wont crimp?
Where's the fuse board from
The connector to crimp 3 wires for the light- is it an ordinary butt connector with 2 wires going in one end and one the other?
Yes it is fine to have two wires going in one end and a single wire coming out the other. It is worth twisting the two copper wires together before inserting into the butt connector.
@@kiravans5874 thankyou! really enjoying your videos, very easy to follow and well presented
@@djheadcandy Thanks for your lovely comments, much appreciated
Hi do I need an led driver or is it built in to light
What connectors are you using for the 3way terminal? I am not sure the best one to use in my parallel lighting circuit. Thanks
Just some generic ones from Amazon.

I like the video - however you could explain the distribution board wiring in more detail
Hi Peter, thank you for the feedback, this will be fed back to the team for us to consider for future videos.

Is it not good practice to have a fuse as close to the battery as possible in case a wire rubs through etc?
Yes, thanks Kyle. That is always good practice.

"quite thin cable" !!! 👎
