    I can't tell you how many reviews of these palettes I have watched over that last few days. This review was exceptional. I'm now a subscriber. Can't believe the lengths we all go to convincing ourselves that we need something new every time there is a new release. They all truly look the same!

      Yes! That's what I thought when she showed the multiple display of all the palettes. They all look the same when applied. Because they look different in the pan, we deceive ourselves into thinking that they will be something different on the face. This is also why I think new shades don't really matter, it's just new names for very similar products. Just use what you have and buy when you have ran out.

    I love your review style and appreciate your candid honesty!
    I am typically the lightest shade, but last year I did pick up the light and medium palettes and both work for me. I’ve always regretted not getting the elephant palette because I thought it was too deep, but I’ve seen a lot of reviews where lighter skin tones can still pull it off. So I’m thrilled that they brought it back in the new Barney’s collab and think I’m gonna go ahead and pick it up, even if it’s just out of FOMO. Although I wish it was still offered in the elephant packaging!
    And thanks for the info on the brushes, I usually prefer natural hair as well but was always curious about the Hourglass ones!

      Thank you so much! I do like the Barney's packaging, though I'm partial to elephants. ☺ I've seen some people use Rephr and Sonia G brushes in reviews, so that might be a helpful comparison.

    Thank you for doing so many comparisons side by side here, I have jellyfish from last year, still have almost 2/3 of each powder left in pan, but I was still feeling so much fomo over the medium palette this year and the gorgeous dragon artwork. But as beautiful as it is I definitely do not need this, it just doesn't give a different enough look to be worth having two palettes at once for me!

    Wanna know a secret? I spent a ton of money on hourglass in 2019 and you will need to pry it out of my hands if you tell me it’s expired and I should toss it 😂. The concealer, still good. Ambient powders and blushes, still good. My lipsticks may smell like crayons but I’ve learned to deal. Here’s the secret secret tho…..I still use my Film Noir mascara! I know!! I didn’t die!! It may be dry but I’m keeping it forever 🤣

    This was a great review. I have so many of these and hardly ever use them! I think the Lotus and Dragon have pretty packaging this year, but I think I'll resist again this year. I skipped last year because the artwork didn't speak to me.

    The size of the Hourglass brushes works well for their palettes, but I agree with/you that dual-ended brushes are problematic for a variety of reasons & for those reasons, I never purchase those kinds of brushes. And I find the small surface area of each of the shades within the Hourglass palettes to be an issue as it’s difficult to utilize a standard-sized powder or bronzer brush to apply the powders, though smaller blush brushes seem to work ok for their powder blushes. These palettes ARE great for travel though & I consistently use them for that purpose!👍👍

    I also customized the light Dragon palette with the lotus cover art too. It was surprising to see you model all three light palettes and I would never be able to tell a difference. Except in the Jellyfish highlighter being lighter than this years Dragon which appears too Golden to me and not a pale pink as they described. That may be what makes me decide to keep it or not. I like the difference in blush colors in the Dragon but on the face they also look so similar so I don't know how Hourglass manages to always do that! Its annoying. But I have a feeling I will like it enough with the pretty cover art at least. Yeah I am a sucker for packaging.

    • @lilnitemakeup
      @lilnitemakeup  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm also a sucker for the packaging. 😆 I think they appeased a lot of people by including 5 "new" shades, but I'm not sure how much that really matters in practice.

  • @kaitlin6033

    They all look exactly the same!😮 I got the elephant a few years ago and never use it. The bronzer is awful and full of glitter. One blush is full of glitter. I don’t get it.

      I really think picking a couple of your favorite shades/formulas in the permanent line might be the way to go!

  • @Suseau
    @Suseau 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I must disagree - pulled out the Jellyfish right before Evil Eye arrived. Not only is there a shade difference (even though i just mix everything together) but the new bronzer is, finally, a perfect cool neutral shade (i posted a demo today) and i would not contour with the recent Edit palettes' bronzers.

    • @lilnitemakeup
      @lilnitemakeup  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm glad you're enjoying your purchase! I posted a picture comparing Jellyfish and Evil Eye on my Instagram. You can definitely see differences in swatches, but personally I notice less of a difference in application. 😉

      @@lilnitemakeup you had me in such wonder, i also swatched yesterday, looked at all my palettes and the differences are rather significant esp. between these recent medium options, Leopard and Evil Eye. I noticed that your demo is in, very pretty, warm lighting, but this also unifies these shades i could imagine

      The package has a 12 month shelf life, but I would personally use a palette as long as I felt it was performing normally.

      Thanks for the feedback! The light behind me was warmer, and my walls are painted a warm cream color. My filming lights are set at a neutral white around 3900K, and I set my white balance to that temperature. I've changed the bulb in the lamp behind me to hopefully give a more neutral appearance.

    I don’t any from the new packaging…so how old is too old to keep using?🤷‍♀️ feel I should replace at Some point but trying to be responsible! Thanks for this video so I can see what I have is very similar when it comes to on the face. But in reality…isn’t it true that probably no one notices one product from the next when it on your face!!

    • @lilnitemakeup
      @lilnitemakeup  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The label says 12 months, but I would definitely use them longer than that. From a hygiene perspective, I think it's unlikely that they would grow mold. Personally I would stop using them if I noticed the performance of the products started to deteriorate.
