I think it's news because it still works. We need new and modern version not built on 60 year old tech. This is a failure but its what the left pushes on us. If we cut 10% from welfare we would have more than enough money to design build and engineer a new missile system.
Upgrades dipwad. He even said that. M270A2 is a 2019 upgrade program to the US Army variant, which includes the new Common Fire Control System (CFCS) to allow the use of the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM). Guided multiple launch rocket system (GMLRS) rockets have a GPS-aided inertial navigation system and extended range. ER GMLRS rockets with extended range of up to 150 km (93 mi). Uses a slightly bigger rocket motor, a newly designed hull, and tail-driven guidance, while still being six per pod. It will come in unitary and AW variants.[83] The first successful test flight was in March 2021. In early 2021, Lockheed Martin anticipated putting it into its production line in the fiscal year 2023 contract award and was planning to produce the new rockets at its Camden facility. In 2022 Finland became the first foreign customer to order it. The Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) is a new series of GPS-guided missiles, which will begin to replace ATACMS missiles from 2024. PrSM carries a newly designed area-effects warhead and has a range of 60-499 kilometres (37-310 mi). PrSM missiles can be launched from the M270A2 and the M142, with rockets pods containing 2 missiles. As of 2022 the PrSM is in low rate initial production with 110 missiles being delivered to the US military over the year. PrSM will enter operational service in 2023.
They need to come up with a faster reloading system than the HIMAR's currently have . It needs to be another vehicle that can drive up behind the launcher and just push new rockets into the barrels in one inline operation . It should have several reloads on board and there should be several reload vehicles that can run back and forth from a stock pile that reloads them from a conveyor belt system that takes the missiles directly off the transport planes . The stockpile can work around the clock to make up for being slower than they can reload and fire them in the field . The tactical advantage comes from being able to shoot and scoot and have your re loaders follow the launcher .
Very visible to, and thus vulnerable to, capable enemy combat aircraft, unless there is adequate air defense around in some manner. Exhaust smoke at launch so gives it away.
@@zedwpd These will need more than aircraft to protect them, i.e., ground-based air defense. U.S. does not have that much for battlefield applications. What, the Chapparal from the 1970s?
NEW TO UKRAINE, MAYBE! The U.S. Army variant of the M270 is based on the chassis of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. The first M270s were delivered in 1983, This was used in the first Gulf War with Iraq! It has been upgraded and become extremely useful, and being mobile it can Shoot & Scoot making it difficult to counter/destroy!

the way it's done the drones all arrive just before the missles do. then as the system is busy dealing with something like 50 drones several missles cut the shaft down.
Thanks you.
Long live America🇺🇸 🌍🐘🦄🦅🦁🐯👌💐✌👈👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

As a Mission Crew Commander Air Battle Manager on AWACS, let me tell you we always have not only air superiority but air supremacy.
new missiles have 500 km range

What will be the procurement volume on this system?
when the late 1980 or 1990😊?
THIS IS NOT NEW! 1983 WAS WHEN IT WAS ADOPTED, CHECK YOUR FACTS...
Democrats want you to think it's new and viable when its 40-year-old tech. Google is complicit.
It's the upgrades to the rocket system that are new.
@zedwpd still the title is misleading!
Do you understand what is upgraded? " Not new... only upgraded.
whats new about it
Let Ukraine have it
The heck if it won't hurt civilians if used in an urban environment.
No longer game-changers! All ATACMS were shot down in Russia with either Pantsir S2 or S400. 😂😂
the way it's done the drones all arrive just before the missles do. then as the system is busy dealing with something like 50 drones several missles cut the shaft down.
that's not true Ukraine just hit 1100 miles inside Russia using them
Russia scared of USA promise
Agree with Klaus1386 This is clickbait 1000 percent
TB2 🇹🇷 lunch
This site is a scam this has been around since 1977
Why do you give so much information to your potential enemies. STUPID
Because they cant defeat it anyway. And we withhold the most imported aspects of our weapons systems.
