whenever i listen to her last speech. make me teary eyes. it is really necessary for couples to support each other, respect each other and should not laugh at other's weaknesses. especially to your family or parents. many people feel insecure when people laugh at them, and they would be afraid to try. so, support from your loved one is very necessary to grow in a society.
A sad reality is that most of the mothers are treated this way by their husband, children, and in-laws. They dedicate their life to family, giving up their dreams, career and passion
12:21 This "May I?" is such a great example of good writing. They showed that entire "May I?" scene in English class & that plant was paid off at such a crucial and perfect moment in the climax.
It's so basic yet so impactful. That "May i" showed that now she is sufficient enough to speak for herself.
I have seen mostly people who don't know much english replace "may I" with "can i" and can I sound like questioning your own capabilities. But as she stopped using "can I" and started using "may I" it showed her growth.

Yep, if he wasn't a good actor like many foreigners in Indian movies end up being, this whole story would fall apart. We'd always be cringing at his scenes rather than just believing and feeling what they were trying to portray...and he nailed the subtleties.
The husband better know how lucky he is, cuz she's so good and forgiving! Idk about others, but i would have ditched his azz long ago😂
Sridevi is the legendary actor. She can pull off any kind of role. In india she is always in the top 5 spots of all time best actresses. To better understand i would give you a reference of Meryl strip and Julia Roberts who are loved by all generations. Till date we Indians didn't even find a match to her acting level. She was the only actor who got paid more than her male co-star, a lead hero. That shows her dominance in the film industry. I wish she could have lived more so she could have given more epic movies.

No, she's one but not only one who can do physical comedy! There are many actresses down south who can do it, Kovai Sarala can create such a vibe, Urvashi has such comic sense, there are many more!

It is a beautiful movie. It is based on the Kargil war, though the specific storyline may be fictional.
The Kargil war actually happened and you can watch the actual footage of the war on youtube as a part of actual news coverage.
The acting is good and the Music and the Background score is Extremely good. Plus, it is based on True Events(Not a true story). The acting in this movie is simply Fabulous.
This a great recommendation. One of the best war movies from India and the one that really started the trend for superior quality ones where the story was the focus without all the melodrama all the others included in the past. Still love Border to death, though.
It's all from colonial past. People who were somehow good at english could get government jobs in the british indian administration. These people were seen as smart and brilliant.

Love the review, I loved this film and the writing however… I hate how the husband was let off with minimal effort. I kinda wanted a ‘love actually ending’ where the Alan Rickman’s character is still with his wife, but you can tell by the body language that he STILL has a lot of work to do, in order to gain his wife’s love back. 😅

The only thing that disappointed me about this movie was the ending. I had hoped that she would find her backbone and walk out of her toxic relationship - go with the cute French guy who adores her. But the filmmaker obviously lost her nerve at that point, fearing a social backlash, maybe? Sad.
i think it was an attempt to show that love wasn't the cure for her problems, it was the respect she gained for herself that changed everything. but!!! i do concur, i wish we had seen her go with the french guy, open their cute restaurant one day.
Maybe I don't agree with the same. The plot you're mentioning was something that everyone wished for but it wouldn't have been realistic for an Indian women who always cared for and loved her family to suddenly leave everything for the French guy. The whole motive of the movie was that an Indian wife craves for respect in her own family and once she got it, everything was sorted.
Or at least a realisation or an apology from the husband would have done the job

Queen is the perfect companion piece for english vinglish. You guys must check it out. Also, queen has the same music director as english vinglish. His name is Amit Trivedi. He is quite good. You would love Queen's music too.

Sridevi plays my mom perfectly❤❤❤ and I play Sagar perfectly😢😢😢 I am the youngest in my family and hence every one who knew my family (friends and family) they till date let me know that I was my mothers favourite child and a very mischievous child. Here in India middle class family lives are where the father provides for the family continuously and the mother runs the family thru sickness and health , hence I have learnt mother's like these are the true entrepreneurs on this planet , you see a mother's love clearly even in Tare Zamee Par. It's common knowledge that women look for a father figure in their husbands , but I think that even men should look for their Mothers shadow in their wives ❤❤❤
we put too much burden on our mothers and wives, they never have a break. no sunday breaks or evening relaxation like the man/kids, all work.
Also please watch the series HEERAMANDI it's such an artistic gem ❤ I know some male crime fans on your channel were trying to push you in the other direction. But trust me, y'all would enjoy this 🔥 It lives up to the hype. I really hope you make time to watch some drama series like this, "JUBILEE" and "CLASS" ❤ All amazing !!!
The only problem with this film i feel that they made English as a criteria to become respectful. Like when she can't speak English his family treats him like anything and when she learned English everyone started respecting her 😐. Otherwise love to see sridevi ma'am after long with you ❤

It is rather actually true that when some one speaks in new language they do speak like a child and our brain automatically starts assuming that they are little slow. Watch any Indian TV shows like big boss or an international talk show, with foreign participants and you will note the same pattern . Arey bhai, the person is pretty succesful in his/her career and have explored avenues which not many have, thats why they are..where they are. They can't be dumb??
