For anyone who might be interested in the art print here is the link: www.etsy.com/shop/RonaMcSeveny
For the Raider fans Rona has also created a special print....

Would an ultrasonic cleaner not have been better or easier to clean the parts with.

You’re probably right! It’s a balance between buying more equipment and parts for the car right now. Will keep it in mind though. Hope you are enjoying the content.

Hope you have kept the big end caps in the correct order as they are a machined with the con rod and not interchangeable.
Also, i would just replace the water pump, as the bearing looked fairly tight, you dont want to go through all this trouble to have a leaking pump.
Depending on your end goal, if the rest of the pistons are ok, you can get that det scar machined off, we used to skim the pistons by 1mm in the very early days to lower compression ratio to run silly amounts of boost. So a few though shaved off will do no harm, just make sure all the pistons are machined the same. I wonder if it was cylinder no.3 as we always found that cylinder to run leaner than the rest due to the carb/manifolds flow characteristic.
Also, get a tap and die set, or a thread restore kit and use that to clean every thread on the head/block etc, will make reassembly so much easier.

Thanks for the advice will definitely look into thread restoring and have indeed kept all the big end caps in order.

@Renault5Rebuild no problem. Have built many c1j's in my time, some standard most powerful was 271 bhp. Used to run a business tuning early Renaults so will be here to help if needed.
Great to see them being kept alive.
I still have a 5, but mine has a audi 1.8 20v turbo engine, still a work in progress but will be awesome when finished👌.
Are you planning a standard rebuild?

Amazing! Will take you up on that. Have been thinking of keeping it fairly standard… maybe increase to 200 max however want it usable.

@Renault5Rebuild around 180 is the sweet spot and easy to achieve.
If you want to change the cam, a piper 285 and vernier is a great choice and retains good driveability and idle. However, it will need a t25 turbo to get the most out of it.
Intercooler look for a decent alloy intercooler, or sometimes a pace chargecooler will crop up on ebay, these are very good for that power level and easy to fit and neat, too.
As for fuelling, you can achieve that power easily with basic mods to 1st and 2nd stage boost enrichment, sounds more complex than it is in reality.
And finally, I'd invest in a wide band lambda sensor and gauge, as then you can be 100%, it's fuelling well.

If you can't fix it then clean it.

Hopefully we can do both 👍
