Except Red Bull and KTM are inseparable now. The last time Red Bull became a full title sponsor for a MotoGP team was 2002 with WCM. The reason why Red Bull eventually joined forces with KTM in lightweight classes after 2002 and subsequently abandoned MotoGP for 15 years was due to the fallout between Red Bull and WCM, which ironically saw the former rejecting WCM's plan to switch to Honda machinery for 2003.
I dont know if Red Bull wants to be title sponsor for more teams when they already are inseparable from KTM. And Red Bull literally stopped sponsoring Honda this year as there are no Red Bull logos on the 2024 bike.
In 2021 they had the chance of concessions to start early development. Pol Espargaro was so vocal about it but Marc and Honda were to proud to admit it. Marc won and took podiums to stop the concessions and now they're in a big mess
Marc was still able to win with the Honda in 2021, so for him and Honda it was business as usual. It wasn't until Marc broke his arm and missed so many races that something began to dawn at Honda that their bike was far worde than they feared. When Marc finally came back, Honda must have thought everything would be fine again and Marc would start to win races and championships as usual. But Marc's arm wasn't fully healed and due to that and the changes that Honda had made while he was out, now even Marc couldn't win with the Honda anymore. But still Honda wouldn't listen to reason, even coming from Marc, and it took Marc to sayL "enough is enough" and to quit Honda for the Japanese to finally face the truth: their bike had fallen way behind the competition in aero and handling.
It't not a huge shock given the whispers about them splitting multiple times but i wonder if Aprilia had a say as they still don't have a title sponsor & back in the 250cc days had Repsol as their sponsor 👀
@GoingBehindTheVisor It would hilarious yet fitting, if Repsol starts working with KTM (or, for the sake of Spanish patriotism, Tech 3 GasGas) as a secondary sponsor again, replacing Mobil 1/Motul; given their previous collaborations in KTM's old factory-team 125cc/250cc bikes and late-2000's Dakar bikes.
Great content and post! As a MotoGP fan of many years I struggle to comprehend how Honda has not been able to remain competitive in a sport it dominated for many years? I would like to see much less aero and other aids to be limited so that its on the riders ability rather than a computer
In my opinion, as a fan, besides the lackluster machine, it is also with the rider handling it. Pecco, Jorge, Marc, Enea, they are on their league of their own. Yamaha's doing some improvement but not Honda. They have the most championships, I think they are looking forward to the 2027 regulations.
I believe strongly a big entity as Honda is already working on the 2027 bike with all the regulation changes. And I hope that all the testing they do in the coming years towards 2027 are focussed on that new bike. Last couple of years have been rough and I am still quite baffled Puig is still around running the show pretty much. Changing things is the only way forward and changing management shouldnt be an exception to that.
Is this because repsol are unhappy with the lack of tv time with the hondas not being show during the race, as ive noticed repsol slowly appearing in motor sports they've never had an association with previously (btcc)
Repsol Honda always had to have one Spanish rider, which is no penalty given the talent available, but this might give them a bit more flexibility. They need to make a more competitive motorcycle, like Aprilia has done. Sponsorship is only part of the problem.
Honda will be fine, they probably sell more bikes than all the others combined. Yes, situation of Honda sucks, but it´s Honda, they will get better....eventually....maybe...
It is ad see a great brand on this situation, i used to like Hondas, but: they been selling their motorcycle away too expensive, with poor material, and obsolete parts and same engine over and over again. Now Ducati's and Aprilia's, and BMW are more assessable to us to buy them.
Simon needs to get his facts straight. KTM are on record as saying Jack Miller was an enormous help in developing the bike into a competitive machine. What was plain in the video is that these two don’t know what they are talking about. The idea of an allocation of rides, based on country of origin is laughable.
Let's get down to the most important question: why is Val's accent on this different than it is on the podcasts? 😀 I mean, I'm stumped about the source of his accent anyway, but at least it's been consistent up to now.
How many years in F1 does Honda have experience with aero? as much or more than Audi. I believe they're just not that interested anymore in funding resource$ into to 2 wheels anymore.
With Newey at AMR, and HRC as engine partner to Aston, I can imagine that they will team up with team Silverstone to boost development. KTM has RB, Ducati has connection to Ferrari, Yamaha is owned by Toyota.
That’s because of the people calling the shot same as in f1. Get rid of the aids and the fim and fia saying who wins what and get back to the rider pure talent. As we all know one brand winning for years and years is boring and killing our great sport
Everything will come to an end, even the most iconic partnership in the history of MotoGP. I do think it also says something about the current (commercial) state of the sport, unfortunately.
The japanese bike makers are not making the money they were making, and that's going to take a huge hit in Europe with the Euro 5+ and pending Euro 6 emissions standards leading to them not selling their top bikes in Europe at all anymore. Motorcycle racing has a unknown future to me right now.
well they're winning F1... probably enough for Honda. Honda are not as full on motorcycles as Yamaha. They're just there because they feel it unacceptable to lose to Yamaha, like in the Suzuka 8hours
Don’t count on that. Yamaha are in it for the long haul - they have their own feeder team in Moto2 and currently bench-testing a completely new V4 engine. Next stop for Yamaha is back at the front
Maybe Honda’s era has passed for good? Maybe the dominance of Japan is a late 20th century early 21st thing? All things come to pass. But hell its been a great ride, from the year when Honda brought bikes to the TT has hand luggage to today. They better get they’re sh!t together soon.
The Japanese have abandoned MotoGP for years now. They simply don’t care anymore. They don’t sell superbikes and that’s what’s all about. IMO Both Honda and Yamaha will withdraw from MotoGP the next couple of years.
I think you are smoking hopeium. Honda could produces more street bikes if they leave MotoGP. What is the real value in MotoGP anyway? I would rather have more Fire blades for sale than race weekend maybes.
@GregOwens-vh4se Also, look at Kawasaki, years after they’ve left MotoGP. If they stayed in the sport; they probably wouldn’t have the budget nor freedom to commission their Aerospace division to help built their greatest bike ever, the Ninja H2/H2R. (And, it’s scantily-clad relative: the Z H2.) Plus; they probably wouldn’t have their relatively respectable championship-winning streak in SBK with Jonathan Rea. (If, it wasn’t for those meddling kids at Ducati and Yamaha. nah jk)
In my opinion, MotoGP is getting out of hand with complexity. honda is better off walking away. When the motorcycle changes during the start from the race like a transformer, I think it’s getting a little out of hand.. they are not even real motorcycles. They are ridiculously expensive Prototypes. Honda you only need to be in world superbike racing.
Honda didn't quit in the 800cc traction control era, those bikes were arguably even more complex than current machines. If they do leave it will be the humiliation of having the European teams soundly beating them. Right now it looks like they're holding on for the new rules that ban ride height devices and simplify aero to come in. It's only a couple of years away now.
so glad to see a real channel instead of those bot AI crap... Keep up the work guys.
Yeah, what ghost hunter said!
Their podcast is awesome too.
@@Mcali1984 yeah I started watching them since end of August... so glad I found them.
Exactly.. i hate the fact that so many channels these days afe ai channels
@@ThePenout so true. because they are crowding the algo as well... so hard to find a legit channel... got to dig so deep to find a channel like this.
Real journalistic information, no click bait. Folks we need to support the journalists out there and not pseudo sites
End of an age. It'll be nice seeing an HRC red/blue/white livery though.
The Race have needed to make a MotoGP channel for the longest time. Bravo. Thank you for making a dream come true
i knew the writing was For sure on the wall when the 24 bike was unveiled. all good things must come to an end. 30 years is INCREDIBLE.
Amazing content hope this channel goes forward fast. Didn't know about Repsol Honda
I didn't know this channel existed, but I'm so down for this
It's about time MotoGP got it's on The Race channel!
A Redbull Honda in MotoGP would be nice though

Great channel! Thanks for uploading
Honda has been a shadow of itself for over a decade now. Not surprising that they are seeing sponsorships erode on their teams, and riders leaving.
RIP Repsol Honda.😢
I think zarco deserves a factory honda seat
I still remember Rothmans Honda livery, the best-looking livery ever.
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS, IM ALWAYS FOLLOW THE RACE WITH THEIR F1 CONTENT, FINALLY WE GOT MOTO GP CONTENT WITH IMO EXPERT, FACTS, AND ENTHUSIAMS 😁😁😁

It always felt like this year’s reduced repsol video was a first step towards this
Is this because repsol are unhappy with the lack of tv time with the hondas not being show during the race, as ive noticed repsol slowly appearing in motor sports they've never had an association with previously (btcc)
Loved your vodeo ,looking forward to more videos, awesome way of presenting and everything ❤, you got a new sub😊
They are even behind yamaha who still runs a inline 4 and 2 raiders. Probably the worst year in honda motogp.
Repsol Honda always had to have one Spanish rider, which is no penalty given the talent available, but this might give them a bit more flexibility. They need to make a more competitive motorcycle, like Aprilia has done. Sponsorship is only part of the problem.
Back to the 800'cc debacle. Again. The FIA screws up most things it touches.
FIM actually but yeah.
Wouldn't it be strange to call Repsol Ducati or Repsol Aprilia lol
Ducati Repsol bike next year 😊❤❤😂😂😂.
Great video, finally on TH-cam with short videos, keep up with great work 😊
Good work keep it up.

Cal Crutchlow: "Nobody listened to me." 🧐☕
Because you are injured. Enjoy your Yamaha paycheck though ;)
Great vid! Subbed!
Honda should just prepare for new regulation in 2027, its too late to develop the current one.
Great video. A little to formal compared to the podcast. I wanna see some video of Val and Simon arguing in person trackside.😅
I wish you guys had made youtube channel sooner, your articles were awesome but it's easier to digest videos now a days ❤
I wouldn't be surprised if Honda leave MOTOGP, motorcycles is just a small portion of their revenue so no point pumping money into it
yooo The race is covering motogp now?
What privileges did Ducati and Aprilia get was it anything like what Yamaha/Honda now have?

thank you to the race, real life humans going up against robot AI videos :)

its about time if you want to really know...repsol has influenced a lot of honda decisions..riders first of all
you need to Promote this channel more !
Nothing new. Those of us old enough remember when Honda had no title sponsor at all ! 1994 comes to mind.
I was 4 in 1994 so lol new territory for me in motogp. As an inter fan, not the first time though.
How many years in F1 does Honda have experience with aero? as much or more than Audi. I believe they're just not that interested anymore in funding resource$ into to 2 wheels anymore.
Can you also cover world superbike
With Newey at AMR, and HRC as engine partner to Aston, I can imagine that they will team up with team Silverstone to boost development.

an f1 team wont be much help unless they take inspiration from an f1 team and reorganise hrc that way.
Unbelievable
Is yamaha still use i4 engine

Don’t count on that. Yamaha are in it for the long haul - they have their own feeder team in Moto2 and currently bench-testing a completely new V4 engine. Next stop for Yamaha is back at the front
Thank fucking god this isn’t another MM biased Ai channel
Subscribed just on that alone
need to rid of those rediculous aero features, these bikes look silly
If you build a bike around just one rider and then he gets injured……. And then he leaves…….. 😮
Maybe Honda’s era has passed for good? Maybe the dominance of Japan is a late 20th century early 21st thing? All things come to pass. But hell its been a great ride, from the year when Honda brought bikes to the TT has hand luggage to today. They better get they’re sh!t together soon.
Not a shock at all , public secret for over a year at least.
Honda should and return with the new regulations.
Who is the guy being interviewed? Top notch
lol you don’t have twitter do you. All the GP journos or anyone involved in the paddock is on there. It’s Simon Patterson
Honda and Yamaha should leave MotoGP. They are wasting hope, money and track space.
Daaaaaaamn son

KTM should have called Repsol to sponsor the Gas Gas brand.
KTM is too busy trying not to have to sell gasgas off to be concerned with sponsorships.
for heaven sake stop messing around with so called test riders just put casey stoner on bike
rip my beloved repsol honda been following the same year i started following mclaren 1998
