My 1966 VW Sea Sand Sunroof Beetle. Before and After

This is my 1966 VW Sea Sand Sunroof Beetle. I bought this car a couple of years ago From the original family owners. The car was bought new in the San Francisco Area. Mrs Koch drove the car since new and then handed it down to her son in law and then in 2020, I purchased the car and have been driving it daily since then. The car is mostly all original with one repaint and an interior refresh. I believe the car to have 90,000 original miles and pretty sure the motor has never been rebuilt. It still has its 6 volt electrical system. I plan to rebuild the motor to a slightly larger displacement (possibly 1679cc) but still in original form (single port, single carb) and maintain it original engine style with all original looks.
I have been polishing the exterior and I believe to paint to be at least 30-40 years old. so, considering that, I think it looks pretty decent. Let me know what you think.

Nice! What steps and equipment/polish did you use?

I wash, clay, 3M compound, 3M polish, McGuiars Yellow Wax. I use a 5” orbital polisher for the compound and polish and then hand wax. It’s a ton of work but the end result is so satisfying

Original color is Sea Sand. It’s a shade off though. A little more gray in it

No need to be sorry. Some people prefer the Patina look. I’ve had those too. This one polished up fairly nicely. The paint is about 30-40 years old.
