I have passed on this bottle a number of times. Don’t think a bottle at 8yrs can live up to the price tag…that being said, I do like some Willet products
@@geland1 to be honest… I haven’t liked one of them yet…. We keep trying…. But I get a flavor from them that I am just not a fan of… and I agree… it definitely doesn’t warrant the pricetag
Even the informed whiskey drinkers fall for their crap. $300 single barrels that may or may not be sourced from other distilleries? Man, gtfo. Then the bourbon heads will go and pay double that price on the secondary market for em. Insanity.
@@javieracosta3439 right… I have seen this on the shelves for $800… and the owner was trying to convince me it was a deal… truth be told… not sure if I could have bought this at the price mike found it… it was around msrp…. But I have not liked 1 thing we have tried yet by Willett… not sure I could have pulled the trigger
I belive this is a wheated bourbon. Makers store picks, Weller 107 or a Ben Holladay red wheat rick may be better styles to go up against this Willett black bottle. But yeah, the value on this is just not worth what they put in the bottle.
For me, Willett is a distillery that just doesn't make stuff that I like, and I've tried most of what they make (but not the purple top). YMMV. More generally, I've developed "bourbon price fatigue" and have a hard time spending > $100/bottle these days.
@@DrBilly90210 I agree totally here… haven’t had a product from them that I have enjoyed…. And doing this channel we have found soooo many excellent bottle sub $100…. If we weren’t doing the channel don’t think I would go over the 100 either
New Riff (which is one of my "buy anything they put out b/c I haven't had anything bad from them" distilleries) recently put out 8 y/o bourbon and 8 y/o rye. Both about $70 and both are fantastic.
Nothing is a waste of time if you use the experience wisely.

Have you guys done a video explaining how you know each other? I'm new so maybe you've already done so.
Id like to hear your stories, whiskey aside.

He who deliberates fully before taking a step will spend his entire life on one leg.
The $250 MSRP makes very little sense for the age statement. I hate how Willett is living off of their reputation from a decade ago.

I worked for their distributor in MA/RI and I’m shocked willet is still in business, they rely on uninformed customers and I think that’s terrible
