Just because y'all asked, I'll go search it up lol
Bad Bunny did a lot of arena shows in the US during his last world tour and he gathered around 18-20 million dollars from all of it, all the dates (around 21 dates for 19-20 different arenas).
BTS did one stadium tour in the USA (the LY-SY Stadium Tour), and a set of random shows also in stadiums, for their Permission to Dance concerts. I'll only look for the PTD concerts.
One of those random concerts for PTD they got +30 million with just 4 dates in the SoFi Stadium. And another set of +30mi in the Allegiant Stadium with other 4 dates. So 8 dates +60 million dollars + or -
    So yeah...

I'm going to answer your questions to the best of my ability
    1. I don't know how much their tours have made. Yes they've had world tours, but their last world scheduled in 2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic, so they never got to tour only a few performances in LA, Las Vegas, and South Korea in 2021 and 2022.
    2. That video of them handing flyers is from the show American Hustle Life from 2014 where they came to LA for 2 weeks to learn more about hip hop from rappers like Coolio and Warren G.
    3. Bangtan Sonyeondan aka bulletproof boy scouts is still their name, it hasn't changed.
    4. I guess if you want a chance to make it in the industry you have to make sacrifices including sharing a room with 6 other people
    5. Yes RM is the leader and he's always been the leader. I think people were saying there isn't like a "star of the group", he's the leader like in sports there is a team captain.
    6. The number 1's for RM's mixtape mono. is for all albums.
    7. BTS started really gaining popularity in 2015 in South Korea, and I think they really blew up in the US in 2017.
    8. Of course they have to audition, some are scouted. Like Jin was recruited while getting off the bus while attending college for his good looks.
    9. RM and Suga taught J-Hope how to rap. They also played hip hop songs for the vocalists to help them to appreciate hip hop.
    10. They have numerous shows. Bon Voyage where they travel to different countries, In the Soop- a staycation, Run BTS- their variety show where they play different games.
    11. Trust me ARMY don't care how long videos are.

Just to clarify, BTS did not have the same opportunities as other groups because they were not part of any of the Big Three K Pop companies. Big Hit was a very small company and almost went bankrupt too. They had to do their own promotions and work harder to get themselves known. When TV shows cut them out or cut their performance they started doing online videos to share with fans more about them. When reality shows mistreated them, they created their own, Run BTS. When BTS came to the United States, their first concert was free and JK, V and Jimin went to pass out flyers to invite people to their free concert. No other group had to do that. BTS literally put blood sweat and tears into their careers.
The brothers have lived together for more than 10 years and it was not till 2020/2021 that they finally got their own places. It was their choice to live together. I personally believe this helped them get closer and why they are so United and brothers. No other group has what they have.
Also just some info…. Korea used a different age system so JK was the youngest and he was only 13 when he joined. You will often hear him say he was 15 when he joined but that’s because of the age system they used. This year South Korea changed their age system to match the international age system that we all use.
    ( I know it’s so complicated)
There is so much Content of BTS out there. From RUN BTS, Bon Voyage, In the Soop, BTS Bomb, their movies, lives as a group and individually lives. We are so thankful for all this because many of us are rewatching as we wait for 2025 when they come back after doing their military service.
    Also just some info.
    Oldest to youngest
Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V (Taehyung) and Jungkook (JK)

About the leader thing, yes, RM is the leader, but in korean groups, a leader has not the same rol as in western groups. Being the leader doesn't mean you are the one who sings the most, or the one who has the lead rol on the stage. Leaders in this groups are like a captain in sports team. He is the voice of the group when talking with the company and is the one who works to mantain the group united. Is more like a representative of the group, but not a leader on the stage. When performing all of them are the same, each with their role, some are best singers, some best dancers, some best rappers, but all of them equaly important.

To answer one of ur questions, yes sharing their day to day life w ARMY was a smart move. That and their massive talents are probably why they have a huge following, BUT, to maintain that HUGE and LOYAL following for ten years takes so much more than that. They love and appreciate their fans in ways we havent seen ANY artists do. And I dont say that lightly about BTS. They are very much known for their love for their fans. And on top of that, they are actually KIND and positive. Theyre never entitled and even 10 years in, still maintain the same hardwork and effort. They dont take anythinh for granted. And that is why, ARMYs are the biggest and strongest fandom in the world

5:35 (timestamp) this was in Los Angeles, and BTS hadn't broken into the US yet. This was in 2014, before they were even big in South Korea. I think they had maybe a total of 1 million fans Globally, but they weren't popular so much in South Korea, and they were not popular in America yet. I think it was 2 more years before they broke into the US Market, but the trip to the US to do a variety show (American Hustle Life) and study the origins of Hip Hop, helped them develop as artists, and not to mention they actually recorded their 4th album (1st full studio album) while they were there filming. Their agency was close to bankruptcy during this time. They did hold their very first concert in front of 200 fans. It was a really great experience for them. And they got some good connections (example: Warren G, and some producers in the American music industry) It was a great learning experienc for BTS, and their CEO and team.

    1. You probably wouldn´t find a bunch of people (not related) that love each other more than these guys love each other! Their bond is STRONG! Their love really inspirational! 2. Leader - different meaning in America and in idol group. Leader in America is like the most talented guy in the group that leads in singing/rapping/whatever and the others are more like backing vocals etc. In k-group the leader is the one who takes care of others, speaks for the group, protect the members and the rest respect his word/his advice. He is also the middle guy between the group and the company.

  • @imajinallthepurple

To give you a little perspective on how big they are:
    - When they gave four concerts over two weekends in Las Vegas in 2021 the entire city was bathed in purple lights and dubbed Borahaegas, restaurants and hotels had BTS themed rooms and menus and there were BTS exhibits, pop-up shops and fountain shows all over the city. They held their concerts at Allegiant Stadium as well as simultaneous live-play shows of the concerts at MGM Grand Garden Arena; sold out both of course.
    - Approximately 400,000 people came to their 10 year anniversary fireworks show in Seoul in June this year. Not a concert and not even attended by the group, though RM did make a daytime appearance. There were no casualties and ARMY cleaned up after themselves and the event.
    - They've shattered records set by huge western artists like Adele, Celine Dion, Taylor Swift and Michael Jackson.
    - They're as big as the 10 biggest other K-pop groups combined.
    - They alone are responsible for approximately 0.4 % of the South Korean national economy.
    - Just one concert of theirs in Korea is estimated to have attracted almost as many visitors to the country as the entire Olympics in Seoul in 2018.
So yeah, they're pretty big! 😅👍

BTS has been selling out stadiums for the past 6 years. They sold out 2 days at Wembly stadium in London in 90 minutes. 90 thousand seats each night. Their last concert was sold out before it went to general public. They sold out Sofi stadium in LA.for 4 nights and alligent for 4 nights in Los Vegas. Los Vegas had purple lights all over the city and temporarily called it Boravegas. Purple is BTS color, bora means purple in Korean and BTS member V coined the word Borahae which mean I purple you that I am sure you two have gotten in the comments. They started getting American fans in 2014 when they participated in KCon in LA. They took off worldwide in 2016. RM definitely is the leader and always will be as long as BTS are together. No question about it. BTS was formed around RM. When Bang Sik Hyuk met him the first time he signed him on immediately and decided to form BTS around him. They were suppose to be a hip hop group but within a year Bang Sik Hyuk decided to go for an idol group which is hip hop and pop. In the beginning they were heavy with hip hop and then transitioned into multi genre. When you listen to their songs and watching mv you need to read the lyrics as unlike K-pop and western music the lyrics have very deep meaning. They derive their songs from personal feelings and thoughts, classical literature, art, psychology, social issues and so on. They have given army many songs to comfort, encourage and to love ourselves. The topic that most people can relate to and those who don’t are sociopaths.
Jin was approached in the street by 2 label companies because of his looks. The first time was by the SM entertainment which at that time biggest music label but he thought they were scammers. The second time was by Big Hit executive when he was getting off a bus. He was studying acting at a university and 18 years old. He thought he was auditioning as an actor and not a singer or dancer. He had no skills in those 2 areas. He worked harder than anyone else as a trainee and that was the reason Bang Sik Hyuk picked him as the 4th member of BTS and the first vocalist to be chosen.

Just to give you a (kinda long) rundown of BTS's shows, since you guys wanted to know whether they're vlog-like or actual shows. The actual answer: it varies! Some are actual shows, some are vlogs. I'll capitalize the type of show they are. Yes, all of the programs I'll mention are still available to watch! Some, however, are available for purchase, and could be heavily copyrighted if uploaded to youtube.
*TH-cam and Weverse Livestreams:* Varies in time. These are the members' LIVESTREAMS that happen sporadically and randomly. Nowadays, BTS only go live on Weverse. Jungkook was live today for about 2 hours! The lives are saved, so you can go back and watch them all if you wish. After the lives end, they are reuploaded with subtitles so non-korean speakers can understand (Because when the members are live, they will be speaking Korean). However, we also have volunteer ARMY translators on twitter who translate while we watch! Weverse is a FREE app.
*Bangtan Bombs:* Released on BTS' official TH-cam Channel. These also vary in time. They could be anywhere between 1 minute to 40 minutes. These are the one-camera, personal VLOGS that you may have been expecting. For example, if the members are doing a photoshoot, we'll get a 2-3 minute vlog about something funny they did or said. We also get behind-the-scenes vlogs of members preparing and getting ready for an award show or for a performance. The award show/performance ones tend to run between 20-40 minutes.
*Run BTS:* A game SHOW. Equipped with a director, staff and multiple cameras and a theme/game every episode, these are planned out beforehand. As mentioned earlier, there's a different game or activity every episode. Some episodes have 2 or 3 parts, and some episodes revisit/recall old ones. There is also usually a penalty/punishment for the member that loses the game in an episode. Examples: Episode 85 was where the members took on an obstacle course at a water park. Episode 20: They cooked dishes for Jin in teams. Episode 52: The members did an escape room.
    All episodes are FREE!
*Bon Voyage:* A SHOW that follows the members on vacations together. This show is also equipped with a director and multiple cameras. However, the whole point of the show is that the members have to carry out their vacations without the help of managers or staff. The staff will have an itinerary of vacation activities planned out for them, and the members usually have to do everything else on their own (figure out how to get there, clean up after themselves, pay for their things, etc.) The members are also given a budget by the staff. They are NOT ALLOWED to use their own money to pay for things they want (unless given permission). There are four seasons. Each season is one country/trip. Season 1: Europe. Season 2: Hawaii. Season 3: Malta. Season 4: New Zealand. These episodes are NOT FREE and will require payment. However, there's definitely free versions somewhere on the internet.
*In The Soop:* A SHOW that's very similar to Bon Voyage, in that it's the members on vacation with cameras following them around. However, this show is COMPLETELY UNSCRIPTED. This show started in 2020, when BTS realized they wouldn't be able to do Bon Voyage (travel to different countries) due to COVID. Realizing the members can't have contact with other people for their safety, their staff built/renovated a huge vacation home in the middle of a forest (Note: Soop is Forest in Korean) filled with anything the members could want (video games, DIY projects, LEGOs, paint, snacks/drinks, a pool, karaoke machines, a big kitchen, tons of rooms, etc)., so that they could enjoy complete rest and relaxation. The episodes are the members just lounging around, doing whatever they want, being normal 20-something year olds. There are 2 seasons, and there's a different house in the second season than the first one. In season 2, Jungkook even brings his dog, Bam, along! Again, these episodes are NOT FREE and will require payment. However, there's also free versions floating around somewhere on the internet.

PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE became the highest-grossing US-based tour and broke an 18 year record, and the series of 4 concerts has the highest-grossing engagement since concert venues reopened in 2021.

RM, Suga and Jhope are like the three pillars of bts, they write lyrics, produce and lead choreography practices. Not only that, during the bts 2010 to 2012 predebut era, the rappers were responsible for teaching the vocalists about hiphop. All 3 of them would make hiphop playlsits and play them for the vocal line and give them information and history about hiphop. They sort of ran a hiphop school with 3 elements music and lyrics and dance.
Meanwhile Jin, when he moved to the dorms in 2012 (he moved into the dorms late) saw the absolute messy state they were living in and decided to step In and provide. He literally daddy like... Man stole cookware and food from his parents house and cooked proper meals for the boys with whatever they could afford and fed the members. before he came in, suga was drinking blended chicken and banana to survive.... they were in the trenches fr. Jin brought them some semblance of normalcy. He really stepped into that older brother role.
The 4 older bros really acted as mentors for the 3 younger dudes who were all still in school.

Anyways, it's true that BTS' content and personalities helped the fandom being that attach to them in some way but to be honest a lot of artists releases that type of content nowadays too. I feel what makes BTS' so special is their talent, artistic identity and the synergy all the members create and what made us really connected to them is their music and messages. They went to the United States for two weeks as part of an opportunity to be on a cringey reality show called American Hustle Life. That's when they were handing out fliers for their free concert on Hollywood Boulevard. They were not already huge in S Korea. In fact, they were more famous abroad than in S Korea. This is because they were experiencing massive bullying and industry lockout in S Korea because they were from a tiny, broke label and were industry outsiders, but also they were seen as a threat (because of their prodigious talent) to the major players in the music industry and were a Hip Hop based group that didn't fit the industry standards. They felt that they belonged nowhere and everyone was against them. They said they didn't even feel like they had been invited to the award shows for the first few years, because of how the other artists would treat them, like they didn't belong there. They were independent rule breakers in a country that is a very hierarchical meritocracy and they were fighting a very pitched uphill battle to break into the industry.
Because of all this, and because they were broke, they were the first ones in the idol industry to take to TH-cam and other platforms to share themselves and their music. They didn't have many other options. As a result of the industry lockout, with few opportunities to perform or be seen in S Korea, their overseas fanbase grew faster than in their own country. When they arrived in L.A. to film Amercian Hustle Life, there was a crowd at the airport. They were shocked. When their albums started to do well and they started to chart and win awards in S Korean, people accused them of cheating somehow because they could not believe they were doing so well when most S Koreans didn't know who they were and they were not invited on the tv shows or in the news etc. That is because their albums were selling well internationally, not in S Korea.

Bangtan Sonyeondan is still their name. That's what BTS stands for. It means to be resistant to the judgements, prejudice and hate that comes at young people like bullets. It means to stand against oppression. They also later extended the meaning to Beyond the Scene, meaning to continue moving forward to growth, both personally and as artists, so BTS now means both things.

I know others have said, but Leader doesn't mean the same thing in S Korea. That's why people said there was no leader in that sense. Because it's not the same. RM is and has always been the Leader of BTS, but it means he is the liason between the company and the group, he helps the group with staying on track and resolving conflicts between members and between the group and the label or others, he is a moral center. He also tends to be their spokesman and translator abroad as he was already fluent in English before they debuted. He is not "the star." He just has a lot of extra responsibilities as leader. He is like group dad, even though he is not the oldest. He is actually exactly in the middle, with three older and three younger than him.

That clip is from one of the vacation specials where they are in Hawaii, Bon Voyage Season 2. In the Soop is their staycation specials during the pandemic. RUN BTS is their variety show where they play games and do challenges (not to be confused the song Run BTS from the Proof Album.) They also have many behind the scenes and making-of clips for music videos. Bangtan Bombs were like TikToks before TikTok existed, short clips they uploaded of them playing around or behind the scenes, etc. There are also some other random videos of them doing games or skits, etc. They were completely uncensored and unedited in their original vlogs and their Bangtan Bombs. The vacation specials are more edited as a show, but are not scripted at all. They pretty much grew up in front of us the last ten years. They also continued to live together for about 11 years, starting from pre-debut, just moving to nicer apartments as they could afford to. They even wrote a song about moving out of their first apartment together (Moving On.) They finally moved to their own places and got rid of the dorm last year, but they still spend a lot of time together, except for the members currently in the military.
    ********
End - Suga is an introvert but also secretly a squishy Pisces. He is learning to be more open emotionally as he heals his many traumas and has never been afraid to show that real, raw and vulnerable stuff to us in his music, his videos and his letters to ARMY. But he does tend to be quieter and more laid back in personality. Jimin described him as "A cool neighborhood hyung" Hyung meaning older brother or close older male friend. ARMY compare him to a cat a lot. In fact, all the guys have emojis that are used in many videos made by ARMY to help differentiate who is speaking in group clips and so forth and are based on personality traits and mannerisms. BTS refers to them too.

I think people were saying there was no leader, because the way you meant it was like the leader in US boybands, where there's this one member that is obviously the lead and everyone else is kind of an afterthought. RM is the leader in the kpop industry sense - he acts as a spokesperson, mediator between the company and the guys and just general leadership. In a way he's responsible for the group. It's an official position.

Nah he learned it listening to hip-hop, it's pretty clear in the way he talks, and it's in their book. I think he just got more fluent watching it.

Their solo achievements have skyrocket for each of them coz they are currently doing more solo stuff, in light of millitary enlistment (they have plans for 2025 when they come back as 7 members). So, they have broken almost all of the records they set before (spotify followers, monthly listeners, itunes #1s etc etc). Also, the creator of the video specifies what contexts all the records are in. So, yes, RM itunes record is as an overall artist, not just korean artist. They just continue to break the records that they have already set, each year. So this video is a tiny bit outdated when it comes to achievements, but still overall a very good introduction video. And yes, they made their "breakthrough" in america in early 2017, and they solidified their "big" status in 2019 i would say (when they did their stadium tour in america with multiple sold out shows in multiple football stadiums, like rosebowl in NY, metlife in chicago and more) :)

Helpful hint for the guide: Not sure if you know.... Korean people used to count age differently to others...
Korean Age vs International Age - difference is 1-2 years depending on if their birthday has been.... In most older videos, including this guide, they are giving Korean ages so you will need to adjust.
The members were only 13-18 years old when they became trainees and 15-20 yo when they debuted.
In Korea when you are born you are considered 1 year old. Then on 01 Jan every year you add another year to your age, no matter what your birthdate is. ....
Year of birth - International age at Debut on 13June13 (Year and age became trainee)
    Jin 1992 - 20 yo (2011 - 18yo)
    Suga 1993- 20 yo (2011 - 17yo) Suga started with MIDI at 11
    JHope 1994 - 19 yo (2011 - 17yo)JHope started dancing at 8
RM 1994 - 18 yo (2010 - 15yo) RM started rapping at 11 and was well known in the underground scene at 13
    Jimin 1995 - 17 yo (2012 - 16yo)
    V 1995 - 17 yo (2011 - 15yo)
    JK 1997 - 15 yo (2011 - 13yo) JK signed with big hit at 13yo
Rule of thumb - if it's before their birthday - subtract 2 years to get international age. if it's after their birthday - subtract 1 year to get their international age.
    EG: TaeHyung (V) born 30 Dec 1995 ...... current International Age 27 (Korean Age 29). ... 2 years difference
So Tae born 30 Dec 95 is 1 year old, then on 01 Jan 96 he is 1 more year older (so they would say he is 2 years old, when we would say he is 2 days old.)
So he was considered 29 in Korea since 01 January, we would say he is 27 turning 28 in Dec.
It's a different way of looking at age, from new years day - Tae is living his 29th year (since conception) - instead of - he turned 27 (since birth)....
The Korean Government has recently (June28) brought in international age as the standard in Korea, but all older videos/ interviews/ shows, will be referencing Korean age.
    💜Have a great day
