Wow what crazy synchronicity. A moment ago When my phone gave me the notification that this video was published, I was literally just recording a dialogue with my inner child about how running off thinking about imagined scenarios was no longer ok. And that he should come back and sit with me and let go of the attempt to control by imagining worse case scenarios. To now let me, the Shen self, to remind us that no matter what happens outside, we will be ok, because we fundamentally have value.
    Wow

I had that talk with my child this afternoon. I had another upset occur which led me into a worry cycle. I slowed down and said to her, this is not okay anymore, you can’t do this to us every time and you will not drag us down to that crazed pain not once ever again. Now I think, one piece of problem at a time from now on, no matter how imperfectly it happens. I’m doing the piece at that moment that I can handle, I’m leaving the rest to God’s mercy on me.

    • @TenTenJ

And I think it helps to slow down and just take an instance on your thoughts with some pause, like you would just calm a child down a moment to think about what she’s doing so she can develop her awareness.

I just found you, I'm in my 50's and finally starting to understand why I am 'not loveable' 'not able to cope' 'not good enough' and amazed that this is not 'me' but a developmental stage! Thank you

Such wisdom and such succinct descriptions of what goes on in my brain! For me, the process is convincing my inner child that she no longer needs to have certain thoughts stuck on replay, that they don't align with her path of living more in the now. I know I have become more kind, calmer, often amused, and determined that I will live my best, most spiritual (not religious) life for whatever time I have left. It's a daily adventure and a daily choice. As always, finding your teachings is a blessing. I am grateful for the resonance and the insight. Peace to you and yours.

      Hi @nancypetrie5717,
Your reflection on your journey with your inner child is deeply insightful. Convincing the inner child to release old, repetitive thoughts is a significant step toward living more in the present and embracing a path of kindness, calmness, and spirituality. It's inspiring to hear how you've embraced this as a daily adventure and choice. We're honoured to be part of your journey and grateful for your kind words. Your commitment to growth and well-being resonates with the essence of our teachings. If you ever feel like sharing your experiences or seeking further insights, our FREE Wu Wei Wisdom community is a welcoming space for you at facebook.com/groups/wuweiwisdomcommunity/. Thank you for your gratitude, and we wish you continued peace and resonance on your path.
      Kind Regards,
      David

That metaphore of the inner child makes me smile because I know it corresponds to what I know as the ego, and I always tought that ego was so immature, just like a child. This video made me understand better why we ruminates, I feel a little less crazy 😜

  • @DrPatrickKingsep

Ruminating is something we all get stuck in from time to time. And it can be very challenging to break the habit and move forward - as ruminating keeps us from moving forward or enjoying the present moment of life too

I ruminate over and over about what I said a particular day and try to see if anyone could have made fun of me. Even though it was absolutely the appropriate thing to say at the time

    • @WuWeiWisdom
      @WuWeiWisdom  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi @cynthiasarah4286,
It's natural to reflect on past interactions, but it's important to remember that your worth isn't defined by others' perceptions. What you said was appropriate for that moment. Instead of ruminating, try to embrace your authenticity. If you're looking for a supportive space to discuss and share experiences, consider joining our FREE Wu Wei Wisdom community at facebook.com/groups/wuweiwisdomcommunity/. Tenderness and gentleness was a rarity in my nurturing as a child. The concept of our ego as the "inner child', gives me the honor to re-parent myself, and stop blaming my parents for being flawed. As we all are just learning how to love ❤️. Lifetime learner.

This is a great video. Thank you again.
I know all this very well. At times though, my inner-child rages in like a bull in a china shop when I least expect it! Ouch!
It's a constant battle between the two: the intelligent and logical shen which I know I have, and the freaked out inner-child that comes in when I get scared, especially when I am with authority.

Inner child work can be helpful in many ways. However, if you believe your overthinking stems from OCD and you would like to find ways to manage your repetitive themes, Exposure and Response Prevention is a well researched and evidenced method to help with this. Please find a qualified and professionally registered therapist to work with. You can also reach out to the UK charity OCD Action for informal support and information.

@@WuWeiWisdom Let's say you're serving time in prison...are you good enough? What if you're aged and wanted a happy marriage, children, family and friends but don't, are you good enough? What if you are apathetic about everyone and everything and only care about yourself, are you good enough? What if you participate in despicable crimes, are you good enough? Or is "good enough" only meant for those with lives that aren't complicated? SO, what if it IS true? You really AREN'T good enough and being that way is a way of life which mirrors your thought patterns? You're one of those many hopeless saps that will float through this world making no difference and never being missed or remembered. How many people know the 2nd President of the United States? Not many I'd bet. So, who's going to remember them.
