Pretty sure diffenbachia is toxic to cresties (and cats/dogs)
Yes, you are right! Thanks so much for letting me know! I did a little research and it would be a good idea to remove it from her tank. I probably should have checked before putting it in her set up.
@@amphibiousking9938 just so you know, most plants are toxic to them however that is only if they eat it, which most cresites cant even hardly bite hard enough to rip a leaf off
Plants looking good man, you should probably add more stuff for your crestie to climb
Love how you planted the vivarium
Thanks!
how did you hang her coconut hide ? i want to get pne for my crestie
It came with hooks and suction cups. I ordered it from Etsy.
I noticed that when you first set the substrate for your enclosure, you barely added soil inside. Maybe thats why your plants werent doing so good? I know that you need at least 50 percent soil for the substrate to have bioactive plants, especially ones that arent as hardy.
Thanks for the info! I’m still learning how to make bioactive setups properly 😅
@@amphibiousking9938 Keep the passion alive man. I dont even have a set up yet haha but ive been researching for the last 4 months and plan on getting my first gecko in a bioactive enclosure. Great video btw 👍
PS. You want non-fertilized organic black earth soil.
I'm torn between getting a gargoyle gecko or a crested gecko it would be my first reptile, and ive got a appropriate size tank for both I love them equally but im not certain wich to pick do you have any advice?
They are both pretty cool! They do have similar care requirements since they are both from New Caledonia. Gargoyle geckos are really cool but I’m not sure if they are as handleable as cresties. But it probably just depends!
I'm new to the hobby. Same dilemma so I ended up getting both. Lol. It's been fun and I enjoy both.
@Cece80 I kinda want a gargoyle gecko as well. They are so cool!
@@amphibiousking9938 just do it! They're fun and easy as long as you're gentle and patient with them.
I think im gonna get a gargoyle gecko now 😂
Looks awesome. Do you feed your isopods and springtails anything in particular? Oh also what's that thermometer and hygrometer combo you have? Is it pretty good?
No I don’t feed the clean up crew anything. They feed on mold and decaying plant matter in the vivarium. The thermometer/hygrometer is a Govee brand. I’ve been using them for a while and I would say they work pretty well.
I just did the same with mine. I went to a reptile show amd got a few different ones. Ended up taking out a bunch of branches i had. I think it was too crowded. I have like 5 or 6 different plants. When you feed your gecko insects do you let them free roam or put them in a dish?
My gecko isn’t really interested in insects anymore which is kinda weird. I feed her Pangea which is a prepared diet. It has insects in it which is nice.
@@amphibiousking9938 Hey I was wondering do you add any special lighting for your plants specifically? Im currently growing out my enclosure for my gecko, should be ready in a couple months. I had a cfl uv bulb as the lighting source and yeah some plants grew, but then I started seeing people use daylight led lights for the plants. I got one and have been using it for a couple days. Still too early to tell but I figured I ask around.
@richardsanchez5444 I just have an led light with white and blue lighting. It seems to be working but I haven’t tried any other lighting.
@@amphibiousking9938 gotcha. I'm gonna see if this makes any difference I'll give it a month. Do you trim your plants to keep it from getting too crowded?
@richardsanchez5444 Yeah I do trim my plants sometimes if it gets a little overgrown.
yes add more branches but looks great
clear plastic on top works too thats what i have
nice job your gecko will enjoy her new redco home n i like lowes too. i love that bamboo ladder ..does she use it?
Yeah she climbs on it sometimes.
Looove the trip to the garden center!
Tank looks awesome. Don't forget to water the plants :)
