Those old Schwartzkopf shuttle loops from the late 1970's were so AWESOME!!! My first looping experience on ANY rollercoaster was on one of THESE old shuttle loops,..it was the "Laser Loop" at Kennywood Park near Pittsburgh, PA. I was about 8 years old when I rode it. It was the MOST INTENSE 35 seconds on any ride. And the loop SCARED ME, and yet attracted me to the ride as well. I'm hooked on coasters now, thanks to the Laser Loop, and these Schwartzkopf shuttle loop models. Thanks!
Oh man I loved Astroworld. Greezed Lightnin' was on of the ones I would head to at the end of the night when you could only hope that a cool operator would let you ride again if nobody was in line or let you scamper around into an empty seat. When you went through the loop backwards your hands were forced down if you could keep them up because the initial launch twisted your stomach.
rode it first time at night when i was eight. the path to the loading area was so creepy. i remember as walked under the track a shower of sparks came down on us, and the lights flickered. was so awsome.
This was my first real looper. Awesome memories at this park but does anyone remember Old Chicago near Chicago? It was all indoor and they had a few coasters and other rides. It was about 1975 or so.
@prodos8 Anton's last name is spelled Schwarzkopf and I too love his designs. They may not be what people like these days but he was one of the big pioneers in roller coaster design. His loops were very circular as opposed to the clothoid (teardrop) shaped loops we see today. Most of his coasters also had no OTSRs, just individual lap bars.

My friend and I rode this thing like 13 or so time in a row. I will never forget how great the rides at AstroWord were.
This was the first roller coaster I ever went on at the age of 5. I'm 26 now and I miss astroworld!!
Back seat Hands to the sky! Still one of the greatest rides ever. So sorry it's gone.
So simple yet so good. Best ride ever. I miss Astroworld!
