They use "road guards" when moving in formation. When the Guards come to a cross road, the guards run out and face traffic to make sure the vehicles stop to let them move safely through. As the move past, the road guards move back into formation and eventually back to the front anticipating the next intersection.🙂

I know it's normal practice but why does a guardsman run to the front of the formation?

It’s also known as out the escort but really they do it to make an equal formation
