Thanks a lot for the reaction!! As usual, they skipped quite a lot in this episode as well, but I have to say that the nanahishi situation was overall, really well adapted. Her situation, personality and motivations get a better explanation as the story continues, which is a bit annoying, because it takes some time each time to see some growth, but I really like her character and her relationship with Rudeus. Regarding Rudeus way of using magic, yes, they combine spells using magic circles to create something different, mages can also chant two spells and combine them, but it takes a lot of skill. Roxy is not only capable of chanting multiple spells, but she can also shorten those spells, so she is incredibly skilled as well, in this show, there are only a few mages that are stronger than her (Obviously we are only talking about magic) Rudeus and Sylphie have chantless magic, which allows them to use mana in an incredibly precise and flexible way. The chants are meant to set parameters for the spells, but those 2 can modify those spells at will because they can control mana in any parameter they want, unlike the rest of the mages, and Rudeus doesnt use his earth magic to copy the circle, but he later does it with another spell, Good guess! As usual, here are some takes, notes and changes from the light novel!! 1-This episode starts 2 months after their wedding. 2-Rudeus has been keeping his routine of exercising himself and sometimes, Badigadi shows up and gives him some advice. In Rudeus perspective, Badigadi's skill level is not at Ruijerd or Ghislaine level, he was probably even below Eris, but he thinks that it's just that he isn;t trying, after all, as an immortal demon, he probably doesnt think defense is a necessity. I also don't know how skilled is Badigadi, because he did got destroyed by the stone cannon, but it was at full power and that spell can even harm the dragon god, so its pretty overpowered, and he most probably knows no martial arts or swordmanship, but he still is an immortal demon king, so although he might not be too skilled, he actually is really strong. 3-Whenever he comes to watch Rudeus train, he also stays to eat with Sylphie and Rudeus and leaves soon after he finishes his meal. 4-In the part that I believe was cut from season 1 where Rudeus and soldat meet with cliff and elinalise, Rudeus tells Cliff that curses can be transfered to objects, just like laplace did to the spears of the Superds, and that the cursed childs are the same as the blessed childs, it just changes if the result is good or bad, which is pretty obvious, but apparently no one else had thougt of that. He then realizes that not even Cliff who has been studying in non stop to help Elinalise knew that. Hitogami had told him taht while he was dying in season 1. It was a funny moments because hitogami had just revealed him an incredibly important piece of information like it was nothing. 5-Rudeus talks to cliff and zanoba before lunch and Cliff is maing a little bit of pregress with Elinalise's curse, zanoba has been working hard to figure out how the doll works and Julie keeps practicing her magic. 6-In the cafeteria, Rudeus has some exclusive seats for him and his friends. After defeating Badigadi, he is feared and respected by everyone. Sylphie still plays her role as Fitz, but she doesnt hide the fact that she is a woman, thats why she doesnt like displays of affection in public. He once groped her ass and she looked at him like dissappointed and told him not to be dissgusting in front of people. 7-He has been taking advanced healing and intermediate detoxification classes with Pursena and he apparently always gets aroused when he is close to Pursena and Rinia, and makes them feel a bit weird because he stinks of sexual desire but he never even tries to touch them, even when they show him their underwear, he only takes a look. They are just surprised with his good behavior. 8-Rudeus does not discriminate, and now that his libido is back, he can now appreciate every type of body, includin Nanahoshi's, but although he used to like her type back in Japam, he now only feels nostalgia, but that doesn't mean he is not gonna keep admiring nanahoshi's body, she notices that and threatens to call Orsted if he ever puts a hand in her whenever he stares at her too much. 9-Sylphie also tells that compared to the nobles in the Asura's Palace, he is quite normal and asks to Rudy not to hold back, that she can do anytghing he wants, But Rudeus always tries his best to be considerate, although he often loses against the tentation. 10-The episode starts from here. Rudeus tells Sylphie that the disturb magic is overpowered, after all one of the seven great powers used it. He keeps a secret that it was Orsted and that he used it to kill him, and asks Sylphie to keep it a secret, because if one of the seven great powers comes after them, he will be no match. By the way, the seven great powers are really strong as fuck, even the weakest is an absolute terrifying thing, can't wait to watch them animated. 11-The university created some wird stories, one of those is that the school is governed by the 4 heavenly kings called the demonic circle of six. The rumours said that the circle is commanded by Rudeus. If someone could defeat the circle of six, then they would earn the right to challenge Rudeus. The members of the circle were Zanoba, Cliff, Pursena, Fitz and Badigadi. 12-To celebrate, Nanahoshi arrived to the bar and pulled out a huge bag of money to reserve the place, but Badigadi said that it would be better to pay all the drinks to everyone that were to arrive to the bar and put the whole bar in a great mood. Sylphie while being drunk confessed to Rudeus that she was a bit jealous of Ruijerd, because Rudeus ofte n talks about him with too much respect. 13-Nanahoshi while drunk is quite aggresive, she got mad at Rudeus for being too sweet in front of everyone, and having loud sex while she was depressed in bed and wanted to keep complaining with Rudeus but Badigadi carried her on his shoulders and made her keep singing her "weird" songs. In the ending, the one that is singing is nanahoshi and is supposed to be the ending of an anime called Gandhara, although I dont know if that actually exists, but anyway she kept singing for some time while badigadi was playing an instrument that I cant remember. The Grandhara song was changed to Tsubasa by Undergraph in the Anime. This is the song being sung in the credits this episode as well as what she was humming in the last core, episode 9 - The White Mask. Before she meets Rudeus for the first time in the school.
I mean, Sylphiette knew and visited Norn and Aisha daily until the teleport incident, so they all should be very familiar with each other. Rudy was sent away when they were babies, so I can see him having a harder time with it.
Yeah... But young kids are different than their older selves... Especially the closer they get to being teens. The difference between our own son at 7yo versus 10yo is even crazy. Plus, they've had several years apart with little to no interaction with young kids.
It definitely seems like Aisha is now really close to her brother despite him being a "pervert" - and it's understandable Norn might not like him since the first time she saw him he was punching her father. I wonder what Ruijerd will say about the break up of Rudy and Eris. I bet he'll get along well with Sylphie.

The ending is like singing at Karaoke. Japanese high school students often go to Karaoke, so I can picture her singing with her friends. The lyrics tell us Nanahoshi's mind, check out the English translation.
Really wish they didn't do the ending that way. It was nice having her singing it in reference to her doing that at the afterparty, but there should've at least been extra animation. The party was supposed to happen in a bar after after Nanahoshi goes to grab some of the money she had saved up at the Mage's Guild, and Badigadi, Linia, and Pursena spot the group leaving the university and join in ready to throw down (and "Fitz" being sent to "chaperone" them by Ariel). The ending should've been used to show a drunk Nanahoshi singing songs from TV dramas and anime, then coming over to complain to a drunk Rudeus and Sylphy being all over each other to complain about being able to hear them having sex all the way from the other side of the house, only to be interrupted by Badigadi picking her up and telling her to come back and sing her "bizarre" songs for him (and then he proceeds some instrument from who knows where and tries to play along, but horribly).

The Nanahoshi ragequit scene was already shortened as it is and Rudy's monologues were basically slashed by 90% so any more focus on the ending would've impacted the rest of the episode. They can't quite release an episode without the OP and ED yet but I don't remember the exact cause. Either way, I agree that the scene flowed ever so naturally in the novels, and I'm glad I read it beforehand because my love for Nanahoshi is very strong
The ending song of this episode was sung by Nanahoshi's voice actor as she was singing a song at that party. The same thing happens in the LN: Nanhoshi sings "Gandhara," the ending theme from an old Japanese TV series "Monkey." I was thinking whether they will get permission to use that song in the anime. However, I am guessing that it was hard to get permission from the licensing company. I am not sure if they tried to do it. It would have been cool if they used that song.
This is the first episode in a long time that genuinely made me feel what I felt in the light novels. This means that the new director seems to understand how to truly adapt Mushoku! The small moments, foreshadowing, emotional maturity-brilliant.
I absolutely love how Nanahoshi went from wearing a mask and not letting anyone in her life/project to the end her celebrating with no mask and a big smile on her face. She is slowly learning to let other people in.
I think the mask was mostly to avoid letting people know she was essentially immortal. Yes, she looks odd as a Japanese person, but the not aging thing might get her kidnapped and studied.

The anime cut out that the reason why people reacted so much to Nansahoshi being carried through the hallway was that she was already slamming her head hard against the wall and even tried to use the knife before Rudy reached her. She was pretty bloody rather than just depressed looking.
What? Uhh I don’t think this is accurate…? Maybe a change from the WN to the LN? The way it happened in this episode was pretty much how it happened in the official LN. He didn’t find the knife until they were already at his home.
This was probably my favorite episode of season 2 i dont know why but I really liked everything with nanohoshi wail theres alot more to it for her as a engineering student when im working on a electrical circuit and everything in theory should work but it doesn't or when im working on a personal 3d printing project i spend a bunch of time modeling and I wait 8 hours just for something to mess up at the end is extremely frustrating. Also seeing everyone work together and hang out was fun and ruejard comeing back is so hype.
Plot twist: The reason why Nanahoshi cannot use magic is due to microplastics in her body. Now they have screwed over this world.💀 You know what's gonna happen next episode? Ruijerd left Rudy and Eris and now he comes back Eris is gone and Rudy is married to someone else. He's gonna bring up Eris and Rudy is gonna have to pull out the good ol' "new phone, hu dis"
Hearing the show say the circles are like circuits and “overlapping” reminds me of stacked circuit boards which I guess is the electrical version I’d what they did

If you ever do a rewatch, it's easy to see how far they've come and the potential of what they'll be in the future. It's cool that you're reading the novels to learn more about the story.
