It was noted in the lightnovel that rudeus fireball would have the explosive equivalent of a nuke, as he wasn't paying much attention/ was on the verge of death and simply tried to throw everything he got at orsted - my boy would have disintegrated the whole mountain
Episode 21 sold me on reading the LN. Orsted is insane and they’re all honestly luck they were allowed to live. Fun fact, Orsted went after Rudeus’ lungs because he wouldn’t be able to chant to cast magic if they collapsed. Orsted was genuinely surprised to see someone be able to cast without an incantation. Rudeus also couldn’t wordlessly heal himself because he doesn’t understand how magical healing works so he needs incantations
good attention to detail, i knew the first part but not being able to heal because he doesnt understand how it works is something i shouldve realised on my own lmao
iirc, the thing about him not being able to use incantation-less healing magic because he doesn't understand the healing process scientifically, and that he would have been able to if he had been a doctor in his previous life, is a theory Rudeus himself holds and is not confirmed to actually be the case, even though it makes sense if it is
Futher more to this, when Rudeus was *powering up* his final attack on Orsted, he was thinking about a nuclear bomb. If Orsted hadn't used the gate, it would've blown up the whole mountain, killing everyone - Even Orsted ... although er... can't comment more due to spoilers on Orsted' powers. (The gate should be able to withstand all tiers of magic, but as you can see it was about to shatter it.)
If you know what i am talking about, I remember reading upto the point where he tries to save ruijerd tribe from a disease. Where he fights someone with his ring. Yeah. I dropped it after that due to some matters and I still havent read further. May need to start again.
@@_tkd_6689 I don't really believe in this theory because Sylphy and Rudy's children have no problem using healing magic without incantations and I doubt they have medical education 😅
Plenty of folks have commented about episode 21's fight, clarifying that Orsted collapsed his lungs as a standard anti-mage tactic. But the whole fight after that has so many amazing little details: Rudy's first attack is his magic bullet shaped to a point and with spirals etched in to achieve modern day bullet spin, but he also rotated it faster than he had in the past, heating the bullet up due to friction. It ends up being classified as a very high tier magic much later on (but it's awesome to see a semblance of his future power so early on). His next move was to force air into his body to keep from passing out. Third, his fireballs kept getting dispelled and he was still very close to Orsted, so his casting arm was hiding his other hand, which he used to generate an air blast that Orsted wouldn't disrupt that would give him distance. Then he used earth magic to prop himself up, giving him something to lean against and a better angle for firing a fireball. And, finally, plenty of people have already clarified about his nuclear fireball. I'm sure plenty of folks have explained that Orsted used his gate instead of approaching because he was sure Rudy not healing himself would be a trap. In all the situations where he tried to read Orsted, Orsted's power gap made it impossible for Rudeus's ability to make sense of the possibilities Orsted had to attack. How powerless must you feel to see dozens of ways for you to die in an instant and have the fear of knowing you probably can't stop it. And that's the details in Episode 21 that are only about the fight. Don't even get me started on Nanahoshi, Hitogami, the Mana Disaster, the 1st episode, and the absolute drenching of the dialogue with foreshadowing, all of which had details in episode 21 that have huge implications once you've gotten further into the story. Go past the 4th or 5th turning point and then come back and watch this episode again. It'll be an entirely different episode to you.
6 out of 10 is insane. its literally the best isekai that set the standard for everything that came after it lol... adapting the books as faithfully as they did and embodying the filmmaking standard of "show dont tell" season one was a masterpiece
He's a fan of action/shonen apparently. Mushoku Tensei takes its time to build its world, until the mana disaster it's even close to a slice of life (and its a good thing, considering what the show is about). Just not really what he's used to, also you can't really understand a lot of what is going on with the anime alone tbh, a lot of stuff isn't explained especially in terms of world building, I don't even think we see a worldmap even once. You also can't really understand Rudeus strength/weaknesses which can be a bit subtle. The manga or better the LN makes it clearer. Clearly, Mushoku Tensei can't be compared to a shonen such as Bleach for example, even if I subjectively think Bleach is mindless trash I can understand why he prefers it: more action, a more traditional "shonen" spirit. But none of the shows he mentioned have even half the world building that Mushoku Tensei has. Those are just too different genres. That being said, Mushoku Tensei isn't the best isekai imho. It's very good but there are a lot of them at the same level at least. Interestingly, they always come from Light Novels, I guess it's easier to create a whole world with books, rather than with a manga or (worse) an anime.
@@abhinavchaubey2798 It always depends on what you're searching for: - The Twelve Kingdoms, for the world building. A complex (even more than Mushoku Tensei) world and very original, Chinese-inspired even if it's a Japanese anime/LN. The narration isn't always as good as Mushoku Tensei though, let's say each series has its pros and cons. (personal favorite tho) - Re:Zero, for the way it mixes isekai and magic with thriller/mystery aspects. Only watched the anime. - Overlord, note that I disliked the anime but I really love the novels. So if you can only watch the anime, maybe forget it, the difference is night and day (even if it's still very popular as an anime). The originality is mainly the overpowered main characters, but in the LN I also loved the carefully built world with a lot of details. - Tanya the Evil, another original take on the isekai genre. The main character is interesting, and the setting is original (an alternative reality that mixes WW1 and WW2). Only watched the anime. Maybe a little below in my heart but I have to mention several others: -That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, power fantasy with a slime mc climbing the ladder of power and developing his own country little by little. -Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions, for its totally different take ("normal" main characters) and kind of poetic setting (very beautiful). Not that popular though, it may be subjective of me. -GATE, the manga at least. I like the opposition between modern and fantasy. -The Vision Of Escaflowne, a bit of nostalgia but I loved it as a kid. -The Rising of the Shield Hero: nothing crazy but it was fun. A lot of people say Inuyasha (an old classic from the 90s) is very good but never tried it myself. I didn't try everything so I probably miss some good stuff.
@@abhinavchaubey2798to be honest, i don’t think there is something like MT. It’s just in a league of it’s own. I don’t like drama shows, but MT is just different.
At min 11 you said that Rudeus was chilling at the start of the disaster, but that's only because he was the one in that situation, he was strong enough not to pass out and wise enough to think a way to stop the fall, otherwise Eris and Him would have splat in the ground due to the teleportation in the sky
Honestly, Mushoku Tensei is my all time favorite anime, and I've been annoyed at a lot of criticisms of the show that I find unfair, but that's because noone seems to be able to give their opinion respectfully. You gave your reasons for which parts you personally don't like as much, and praised those moments you did like for what they were, and gave your overall opinion of the show respectfully, making it clear that it's just your opinion, and I respect the hell out of that. I wish more people knew how to simply give their opinions respectfully like this.
ive recently watched it and its honestly amazing, obviously most people will hate the more perverted side of the anime ( id rather it didnt ) but the meanings the series shows is crazy complicated at times but still really nice
Fun fact: during the fight with orsted after he crushed rudys lungs he was very cautious of rudy because he wasnt sure why he didnt heal them and assumed it was a trap to make him let his gaurd down
@@assarlannerborn9342 true. I noticed it as well. He's prolly one of the few reactors i've come across who wasn't that invested in the show's plot progression and world building.
Yeah. The story telling, world building, animation, characters are so good, but rudy's pervertedness and that he is p word is the major con and it is making people hate mushoku.
@@oolongTea295 It's not a con imo, it's what makes his character interesting, it would be boring if he was just a regular guy getting reincarnated. It makes you question yourself and feel conflicted seeing his evolution. Rudeus in his old life would have probably just stayed still and died instead of going to finish his mission when Eris left him. TLDR; people that dont like mushoku tensei arent paying attention to the point of the story...
Lmfao I LOVE Eminence, Love Slime, Like Black Clover, but they dont even compare to me, the story, the depth, world building is incredible in this series(so good that I started reading LN/Manga because of this) Also again I love Slime, but it has sooooooo much boring stuff, meeting episodes which felt like they dragged on for an eternity. Granted that could've been just the way they made the show(especially the part where they show parts, end the season, then redo the damn parts all over again and we dont even get to the next stuff for a few episodes). And Black Clover suffers from waaaay too many episodes, as much as I did like it, LOVE Naruto, but whenever any series has to do hundreds of episodes there is so much stuff that feels like its filling up space or going in circles.
@@user-zl1vf4me1p ughhh... That's what we THOUGHT, but now they decided to take on other projects, do stuff too fast, let a bunch of SUPER talented people leave(probably because they didn't pay them enough) and now we get 4/10 of what we had in S1.

1:17:29 I respect this honest feelings of yours sir This show is amazing to me to the point that I would rate it 9/10 but I still can't deny that I only watch some peak episodes when watching people's reactions
Vierra wearing that bikini armor is actually explained _in detail_ in the books: Since everyone uses mana in some way, warriors can coat their flesh in it and use it to power their abilities and strengthen their bodies' defences. Rudeus *is incapable of doing this* despite his best attempts, so he's one of the physically weaker adventurers and combatants in the setting. So wearing bikini armor wouldn't be a hindrance when you're protected from the smaller scrapes and can use healing magic for anything more significant. Furthermore her backstory is that she and her sister Shierra ended up in the middle of a bandit camp after the Teleportation Incident and both were repeatedly raped. Vierra's psyche endured, but Shierra's didn't. She developed androphobia, so Vierra keeps men's looks off her by giving them something else to look at. This is why Paul is especially angered by Rudeus' insinuations, besides the fact he's been celibate ever since the Teleportation Incident. When it comes to Paul fighting drunk, it's just that he's so good at fighting that he powers through the booze. But it wouldn't surprise me if North God Style included a drunken fighting style. Practitioners of the school do get eccentric, like a halfling swordsman wears extremely well polished armor to reflect sunlight in his opponent's eyes.
@@pininja4981 most critics of MT if it’s not “Rudy is Pedo so show bad” and general I dislike that that main character is flawed stuff, they don’t have much if any real complaints, just vague “it’s slow paced compared to other isekai” statements or “it’s bad” or ironically quite often “slime better.” without any elaboration.

bitch really just said he likes eminence in shadow over mushoku tensei, which is in my opinion the greatest isekai and one of the greatest fantasy shows of all time
Nah, Eris didn't dump Rudeus. She's just.... absolutely terrible with communication. She 100% blamed herself for Rudeus "dying" with Orsted. She absolutely believed she should've been able to stand up to him, if only long enough to buy Rudy the time needed to run, recover or counter attack - and the fact that Ruijerd and Rudy both managed to at least put up some resistance while she got quite literally one shotted by Orsted was a huge blow to her ego. When she said they "weren't well matched" she meant it in the sense that all she'd done up to this point was rely on him - and she wanted to start giving back to that relationship, to be in a place where she could protect him rather than the other way around. But she can't, and she knew it... which was why she left with Ghislaine for the sole purpose of growing stronger, to follow up on Ruijerd's claim that she could eventually surpass him. That said, Eris being Eris... of course she had no idea how to communicate that in a healthy manner, and what we got was the note that was left with Rudy. Which, obviously, was taken at face value and with Rudy reasonably assuming the worst between his prior life experiences and the exact words written. As for why she didn't discuss it face to face, it was for the same reasoning Paul didn't allow Rudy to talk him out of being sent to the Boreas household - both realized there was a very good chance that Rudy would succeed in talking them out of that decision despite it needing to be done, at least in their minds. Poor communication kills and this is a prime example of that.
If your not on rudeus side from the start here, you've not followed along that he is still inside of a childs body.. adult mind or not The amount of danger rudues was in, he wouldn't survive the demon continent without ruijerd
Mmmm, I can kinda see your point, but Eminence writing wise is mostly what you explained, its more about the entertainment that super well written plots, i'd definitely argue the Jobless has more complex writing in comparison to Eminence. Even in the baser aspects like both MCS being op, Jobless handles it in a much more balanced manner, this allows for proper tension in a battle action anime, Shadow on the other hand feels completely unstoppable at every point In the show, his battles are meant to be hype because as an audience we wont get tension because no way is he going to lose. I get it tho, your point is from the basis of appeal and not narrative structure itself.

As someone with a major in AV Communication, I can confidently say that Mushoku Tensei has waaay better writing than other isekais, it's objectively better, but I have been watching you for some time now and I understand that this isn't really the type of show you prefer, you are more for the absurd power battles, comedy and edgy characters, for shows that make you enjoy yourself more than a more "crude" story, that's why I'm looking forward to when you watch Slime S3 and The Eminence In Shadow S2, I bet those are going to be fun lol
No OVA?!? I get so sad nobody watched the OVA when it happens in the season. Someone likely already said it, but they cut Rudeus landing and breaking tf outta his legs, and Aisha pissing herself(rightfully so!). Rudi helps her wash up, and he is surprised that seeing a naked girl does nothing "for him," thinking it's because it's his sister. This matters a little later on. 44:22 Uuuummmm, dude. Thise barriers are not circles. They are domes. Lolz
"What the fuck was her mother teaching her?" They're nobility. *Asuran* nobility. Pilemon, Rudeus' uncle and the man they were planning to hand Eris over to, had his second son when he was ten years old. When Philip and Hilda were handing her to Rudeus as a birthday present (and to cement their betrothal), Hilda told Eris to her face that Rudeus is the only male who would ever tolerate her and he'd be her only marriage prospect. That's why she came back to his room after running out, thinking that even if she weren't happy in marriage, she'd still be with him. Her seeing Rudeus apologize for being so pushy was what made her start falling in love with him. In the novels this is what she was thinking after they slept together. She'd finally come to terms with being in love with him and she couldn't bear being a burden to him. So she's going off to train in the art of the sword, to be his equal when he fights Orsted again. Her seeing him practice the ability Orsted used on him made her think he's going to challenge him again, so she wants to be ready as a swordswoman capable of cutting the Dragon God down, or at the very least pin him so Rudeus can finish him off. She tried to word her message in a way that would reassure him, but wouldn't give him enough information to track her down and dissuade her from the path she's chosen. She came to the same conclusion as Paul did when Rudeus was 7: neither can win against him in an argument.
whats great about mushoku is it gives the more depth to the character of rudeus (and others) and also delves onto the flaws of his character, he is not perfect, he has his own insecurities along with his responsibility, and although he was gifted with massive amount of mana it does not mean that he is the strongest there is ( which is completely different from other shonen) and besides s1 is only the introducton of rudeus, we will see him grow and experience all his achievements and hs development, ( I mean his story does goes till his in his 70's)
aaah i mean opinions are nice and all but when i rate i usually go for 3 main criteria: Animations: one of the best you'll see to this day at leat 8.5 Plot: show is not finished so can't give a definite vote, but the world building was good, and how the different stories got linked together with the episode passing was also good. Since it's unfinished i would say 7 Characters: the main cast is pretty well built, the internal conflict of the MC is also well portrayed: 7.5 Giving this a final score of 7.7, bringing this down to a 6 seems pretty hard to me cause there were not very apparent flaws in the show, i would like to understand your criteria on this one.
Millis is very beautiful on the outside, but the religion is highly fanatical. Imagine the Papal States where the Inquisition is the official police force. The nobility are locked in a great game much as the Asuran nobility are. Still, the opening theme for that episode always makes me weep because it makes me feel so safe. The writer of that piece understands liturgical music.
Yeah I’ve seen people not liking my favorite shows before, especially it being MT, quite a few people I know dropped this early. Just surprised that he likes Eminence more. Like, what?
I feel bad for Ellenalise. Her story is pretty tragic once you get to know more about her and why she is the way she is (she doesn't bang dudes by choice, at least not at first). The characters of this show are so great. I love Roxy, Eris, Rudy, Ellenalise the most but so many side characters that we get to know better in season 2 are also amazing. Then we get into the world building more and it gets really interesting. After reading a bunch of the LN this series is easily in my top 3 of all time. I'm still not done but the point I'm at it's already incredible.
@@red_streak she was born/ created hundreds of years ago. Her "role" was supposed to be to created kind of magic crystals for Orsted iirc (his story is nuts too, the world building gets really good later on) so he can fight someone. She's had many kids who had kids (Rudy knows and likes one quite a bit) but has a bad reputation so she raises them and leaves. That's kind of a simple explanation of her story but it's a lot more complicated but it would spoil too much getting into more.
@@red_streak she still has the curse now, it's just she figured she might as well make the best of it and enjoy it if she has it. He's working on a way to break the curse and they even get married. He made a special set of underwear for her that allowed her to go on longer without having to bang dudes and she doesn't want to bang random dudes now that she actually found love. Her and Rudy travel to rescue his mom and in the 6 months they were gone I think she only had sex 2-3 times with randoms, holding out as long as she could. All I'll say is the payoff for the depth and attention to detail in this show will only snowball over time. It's weird to me because this author just wrote A's in virtually every single category of what males a good overall story. And it was a weekly webserial published with zero ability to revise. It's just building a base. Imo conflict, tension and fights are amplified by a good grounded story focusing on ideals, characters and worldbuildimg. Most shows taper off at season 3 and are utter shit by season 5. This show will become exponentially better as it goes on. This is a prologue. Basically, the main plot doesnt surface till the end of season 2. It will either be the finale or early season 3
This is a thought provoking anime not a shonen, with depth, development, LMFAO Black Clover over this.. Haha. BC is like the most basic brain off scream action nonstop, that's it.

It'll be an entirely different episode to you.

adapting the books as faithfully as they did and embodying the filmmaking standard of "show dont tell" season one was a masterpiece
@@xenotypos Can you tell me the name of other isekai as good as Mushoku Tensei or better as you mentioned
@@abhinavchaubey2798 It always depends on what you're searching for:
- The Twelve Kingdoms, for the world building. A complex (even more than Mushoku Tensei) world and very original, Chinese-inspired even if it's a Japanese anime/LN. The narration isn't always as good as Mushoku Tensei though, let's say each series has its pros and cons.
(personal favorite tho)
- Re:Zero, for the way it mixes isekai and magic with thriller/mystery aspects.
Maybe a little below in my heart but I have to mention several others:
-That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, power fantasy with a slime mc climbing the ladder of power and developing his own country little by little.

@@oolongTea295 It's not a con imo, it's what makes his character interesting, it would be boring if he was just a regular guy getting reincarnated. @@oolongTea295 People that hate the show because rudeus was a pedophile and pervert arent REALLY watching it. The show is literally showing him growing as a person and theres so many scenes that show this lol He always reflects on his previous life and how much of a loser he was and as he does slide back into that mentality when hes down, he gets back up in his new life and progresses. Rudeus in his old life would have probably just stayed still and died instead of going to finish his mission when Eris left him.
TLDR; people that dont like mushoku tensei arent paying attention to the point of the story...
On Orsted's curses stopping him from ever using his full powers.... They don't. He has his own reasons not to go all-out.
Mushoku Tensei should be 100-110 episodes if they adapted the full story and didn't skip any important stuff, so by the end it'll be very long.

Vierra wearing that bikini armor is actually explained _in detail_ in the books:
Since everyone uses mana in some way, warriors can coat their flesh in it and use it to power their abilities and strengthen their bodies' defences.

Bring this show back man
"What the fuck was her mother teaching her?" They're nobility.

Animations: one of the best you'll see to this day at leat 8.5
Plot: show is not finished so can't give a definite vote, but the world building was good, and how the different stories got linked together with the episode passing was also good. Since it's unfinished i would say 7
Characters: the main cast is pretty well built, the internal conflict of the MC is also well portrayed: 7.5
Giving this a final score of 7.7, bringing this down to a 6 seems pretty hard to me cause there were not very apparent flaws in the show, i would like to understand your criteria on this one.
even your rating is harsh in my opinion cuz they really did more than a 7 and a 7,5
Millis is very beautiful on the outside, but the religion is highly fanatical. Imagine the Papal States where the Inquisition is the official police force. The nobility are locked in a great game much as the Asuran nobility are.

Seeing what sort of person Rudeus was like from the start of the series to the end, and the value of his connections is the point.
Spoilers:
And we saw how important those connections are from Oldeus, who lost those connections and became a monster who killed, raped, and rejected anyone trying to help him, for the rest of his life.
That's the whole point, to show you how flawed he is and progressively gets better. I just find it funny how Meliodas be grabbin ass and titties all day long... "oh that's just part of his character bro"
@@PortalSins Regarding him getting over his past self, if you notice in Episode 23 is when we first hear inner monologue from Rudeus, rather than his old self, so that is the point where he starts viewing himself as Rudeus, not his past self.
@@PortalSins he did have a character development out of his old self at ep 2(conquering his trauma of going outside), 12(his win against eris and not letting it get over his head), 14(risking his life for kids he barely knows), 17(him making up with paul instead of not making up because of his pride just like he did in his past life), 23(trying to find zenith instead of staying in the tent after eris left him). Were we watching the same show?
Neel ever heard of Campione! God Slayer?
