When you want your units to attack the enemy tell them to STOP attacking that enemy and they will kill him. Legend just solve the biggest problem of TW:WH3 👏 Actualy brilliant. How did i not think about it when the units usually do the opposite of what they are told?!
their game is just too complex for the technical basis they have. it is surprising how WH3 is advertised like an AAA game, while it remained in an unfinished beta state. I mean it is kinda charming, but way overmonetized for its gameplay value.
Complex games have bugs. I'm not saying it's OK. I'm not saying I like it. I'm not saying they shouldn't bother fixing it. I'm just saying, complex games have bugs. Always. I just think it's pretty graceless to sneer about a game being in "unfinished beta state" and "way overmonetized" when if you're like most, you've probably played it for hundreds, maybe even thousands of hours? Like, not sure about you, but I've spent about 10p (~$0.15c) per hour for the time I've played this game. I've got my money's worth out of it and I think most players have, even the ones who complain about it. It's not perfect, but it's good.

Hello guys! This was my battle and I'm so grateful to Legend because I tried this so many times and could not overcome this. I was close in one try, but the Slayers were a problem. Once again, thank you so much Legend, and sorry for the unbreakable unit effort (that was a pain in the ass)! The campaign is going very well after this!
I had a similar glitch while playing skarbrand I had some bloodhost armies attack ungrim ironfist and killed everything except 3 slayer pirates who were unbreakable. The problem i had was the fact that the 3 slayer pirates somehow had 2 hp between them and were actually unkillable and I lost the battle and since 2 of my armies were on force march they insta died even though they had plenty of units left. Kind of dumb and don't know why this sort of thing is happening.
Legend here ready to Troll the Troll Slayers with an army of Trolls. An hour long battle. Yeah, that tells you this will be an absolute slugfest of a battle.

Had this immortal unit bug happen to me in a Greasus campaign and thought I was going crazy. Hour and a half battle down the drain, I did indeed rage quit the campaign and never came back. This was fun watching you go all the same stages of grief I did , but of course you found the way out I could not :) Was also an ungrimm battle, not sure if the bug is specific to his army.
Got two 0 HP unkillable slayers once when i played a vlad von carstein campain. I guess the slayer died by getting pushed over while the journey's end ability (or whatever it is called) was active so they didnt actually die.
That helpless feeling...I know. I can remember Tyrion standing in front of the Loremaster spawn point in his quest battle waiting for enemies...lol! Glad you found a solution.
This happens not only with slayer but also chaos spawns. Missile, damage dealing spell, or cavalry charge (works with Grail knights and tzeench knights) can finnish them.
single entities doing stupid shit is a staple of the game since forever, never truly fixed during the decades of Total War. this is just one instance which is rarely happening with a select unit. but this type of shenanigans are everywhere in the game, just try to run down something at the end of any battle, or there are the number of single entity heroes who charge and trip the opponent without damage. I wanted to get into this game, but I am happy that I only bought vanilla first without spending on any expansions. this is a somewhat charming but bugged kind of game that is good for messing around a bit, and then to uninstall for good. once in a while a Legend video is more than enough.
I've seen this bug happen 3 times, in 3 separate TW games (Rome 2, wh2, and wh3) never knew how to deal with it. Thank you legend, because you are right, I quit the battle everytime. Another CA bug solved

Immortal entities has happened to me aswell, only with undead units and they get stuck in a "fall" due to explosive magic/bombardments. You'd think they'd disintegrate but no, they're invulnerable due to their endless fall animation. Unlike this slayer they couldn't move at all and nothing could break the undead out of their freefall
is it possible that what killed the immortal slayer was the troll grab animation? at 49:00 when you have two apparently immortal slayers, one of them gets grabbed and instantly dies. The second one was zoomed too far and ended the game too fast to see, but maybe the same thing happened: regular attacks do no damage, but the synced grab animation bypasses whatever the bug is and instantly kills the model. It just has an extremely low chance of triggering because the trolls just don't attack in the first place. (sorry for the comment on an old video, no idea if this issue has already been adressed/solved)
I had a similar experience the other day - vs Ungrim on the map with a really steep snow hill as Vlad. 2 Slayers got knocked outside the playable area of the hill during the blob fight, no magic, flying, or ranged to deal with it so ragequit that campaign...
I've had to endure an unkillable single cohort of sotek skink for an entire hour... the little bugger was on my side too! He endured an hour of an elite endgame slaanesh army just beating on him until he finally died and i could do something else with my life
That “not gonna attack” thing happens all the bloody time, since 4.2 It’s made melee units, that were actually a decent choice in most armies, completely pointless. To the point where jade-warriors AREN’T actually useful even with a few gatewardens in the army, because if you’re no attacking back, you’re still going to lose against fraggin goblins.
I've found the surround a unit, then tell them to stop technique also works with cavalry and monsters when running down the last few or one fleeing unit. Since they stop moving they don't knock the entities down, which allows them to do full damage, which they will do if they are in range to attack one of the entities. It is kinda dumb and counterintuitive that the best way to kill a routing unit is to tell your unit to stop rather than attack once they are on top of a unit.
Never understood CA's design choice with getting knocked over not doing any damage. If a unit is knocked over, it should deal full damage regardless of melee defense. Then just make it so heroes and LLs can't be knocked over under any circumstance. Would force battles to be more cinematic that way
Tbh these videos are the only thing that get me back into TW W3. Look forward to your review on the next dlc since not to many are as brutally honest about there thoughts with it
I had the same problem two days ago. Last slayers refusing to die, my units struggling to attack entire units of dwarves… Spent half the battle trying to kill the un breakable Legendary Lord when he was the last one left…
Yup. Dragons are having trouble pushing through infantry again, and they get almost completely pinned to the point of ridiculousness even by far slower monstrous infantry, which catch up even though Dragons should be faster, and even particularly lightweight monstrous infantry pin them way too well. In addition, Dragons are quite janky again and once again are bad about obeying breath attack orders.
I have noticed that using the halt command actually seems to make melee units more effective this patch. Eg I had throgg + trolls try to bash down a gate and they were taking ages, but every time I pressed halt they would all actually swing and take off a big chunk of its health
I am only 27 minutes in and I can say I probably would have given up on this battle though I think I wouldn't have let myself get into this situation in the first place. Damn what a slog this must be for another 40 minutes to play out.
I had this bug multiple times. In my cases the Slayer died if he was too long out of combat or from AOE Spells with a damage output that would kill a full live slayer model in one shot.
I actually just had this issue two days ago in my new imrik campaign!! The routed dwarf general could not be targeted by imrik and my dragon. They would move to where he was when you issued the attack order and then stop
I've had this happen multiple times, was always very thankful to have direct damage magic. Good to see there's at least kind of another way out. Stupid bug.
It's impressive how terrible Squigs are because Squig riders are pretty insane value by comparison. I've gotten Squig riders to very consistently punch above their weight.
The bug of units refusing to attack an enemy like that has been in the game since launch Mandolore's Video pre launch mentioned it. He mentioned it may have been related to the Blood DLC not being out at the time, not seeing any blood on your battlefield? Is it not enabled at the moment? Side note I found toggling Guard or Skirmish on and off would fix it when I had it happen
99.9% would rage quit, this includes Legend, but for the video's sake he had to endure it.

yep, theyll fix bugs that benefit the player but will leave in bugs that hurt the player and give the ai an advantage
