- There may be some better units in those factions' pools, but these are the most unique and famous units of them in Medieval 2 Total War.
Thanks for watching, see you in the next one... - เกม
Rather The Most Iconic units of every faction
Yep, most faction has a cavalry unit that is stronger. Chivalric knights, Templars etc. would be the strongest for most western factions. But, it would look kind of boring tbh.
Venice should have had The Venitian Heavy Infantry as their best unit.
Crossbowmen are easier to get early game and Venetian, Milanese crossbow spam is probably much more famous.
I think best units should be divided between Missile Infantry, Melee Infantry, Spear/Pike Infantry, Cavalry, Missile Cavalry (if the faction has them) and Artillery
@@GOGPlays You don’t get Venece for those generic crossbows, you get it for the heavy infantry charge. I don’t get your logic.
Or Venetian Archers due to their long-ranged Composite bows while protected by good armor
The Geneose crossbowman haunt my dreams. Idk why but anytime i am on the same continent with Milan, i end up facing near literal spam of them.
Milanese AI loved that unit. They have high tier cities and spam their militia versions.
Yep, and my cheap Venetian mounted militia goes hurah on them
I remember expanding as England and Milan starting a war on me. I knew crossbows have a nasty armour penetration but by Jove did they favourite them!
But haunting? Not quite once you have decent cavalry and artillery. And they cannot light up siege towers either. I find they're a tad over-celebrated for a unit that's considered a nation's special one.
Retinue Longbowmen, now there's an archer unit for ya that can make any enemy rue attacking you!
HRE Gothic Knights are just a meme. They look good but they don’t work as intended since the launch of the game. If you want infantry you go with Imperial Knights, but the strongest unit in the roster (and the strongest cav in the game) is the Teutonic Knight (also super iconic and famous).
For Venece you can’t take a generic crossbow, they have two of the better units in the game by far. One is the Stradiots and the other is the Heavy infantry, you play that faction only to get those two.
All the rest is fine, you can argue a few, but it’s good enough. 👍
Oh yeah I forgot about those French Lancers, definitely not the best cav of France. You can make an argument for Suiz Pikemen, or the Heavy Crossbow unit (I don’t remember the exact name, but you get it), there’s a lot of better options for France.
Lancers have full plate armour useful in all angles. Shield armour is less useful for that matter. Yep their crossbowmen aventuriers or smth like that is the best crossbowmen as an infantry, but I thought a heavy cavalry fits medieval French image better.
@@GOGPlays yeah, but for some reason they lose badly against other cavalry of similar prize. They are not bad, just underwhelming and far from cost effective.
@@GOGPlays also the unit is visually beautiful, I love how it looks. Style 11/10.
I think hre best unit is reiters or something like that.
That Rocket Launcher and Elephant still give me PTSD to this day
Lol, the sound of crossbow's loading mechanism Geneose Crossbowmen made me think Geneose Crossbowmen were shaking in their boot so hard for the moment xD
Major bonus points for including the Saxons!
Would definitely argue that it is Norse War Clerics for Denmark, think they are hands down the best non-missile cav in the game tbh
Norsemen were known as better axemen in medieval times. Yep, most factions have a stronger cavalry unit, but it doesn't fit their unique image.
Unit stile 10/10, and yeah they are super cost effective. About being “hands down the best non missile cav […]” they are solid but definitely out of top 5.
Norse War Clerics are made to kill enemy heavy cavalry and general's bodyguard, they sadly do not have lances and aren't as good against infantry, they are however worth every penny, since Denmark do not have much anti-cav units besides the late game Swordstaffs and Halberdiers.
Norse War Clergy (Armored Clergy) is the best no-gb cav in Denmark, and they look so cool too
@@simonredion4417 It doesn't matter that they don't have lances since in melee they kill the most cavy units in the game and GBs too, because they have maces (AP weapon) and that makes a big difference. They're also good at melee agaisnt infantry if you do the charge prev
Maybe you could make a video in the future for the best unit for each Period of time
Seeing Danish Axemen and Varangian Guard vs each other would be very interested, as they were historically both Vikings.
Here's my take:
HRE = Reiters
Venice = Stradiots
Portugal = Conquistadores
France = Scots Guard
The rest is passable.
Reiters sounded more reasonable now. But, I felt like Gothic knights are more famous for HRE.
Portugal would have the same with Spain then. They had conquistadors too. I wanted to show unique units even it's not the best actually.
maybe but stradiots were mercs from the balkans
Will you do this video, but for the dlc campaign factions?
It sounds like a reasonable video idea, thanks for suggesting.
i lost my youth playing this game
And let's say that non of us regrets it
It was perfect
And let's say that non of us regrets it
Lovely collection of units which you'd happily have in any army. Crossbowmen are op in a decent army or bridge battle. Although I loved that you had the French lancers. Would have loved to have seen each unit in its preferred territory
I wanted to put more famous and stronger units rather than absolutely the best ones. The French were known for their heavy cavalry and stricter feudalism during those times.
@GOGPlays You should totally do another one then. There are some super famous ones like the sherwood archers, magyar cavalry, hashashim, and hussars to name a few.
Nice vid
Thanks:)
I had to retire from this game and Steam for life stuff, i miss it a lot!
Did you take an arrow to the knee?
@@eugenefrolov1396
Yeoman archers!
Come baaack :(
@@NataliaYaremchuk0816Well you are a real life witness of a total war 😐
ah yes 2h shock infantry i always use them as somewhat disposable assault troops that are the first to rush the wall breach or assault the enemy lines with ligher swordsmen following behind them to exploit the bloody gap that the shock infantry left behind , ofc i could just flank the enemy with shock infantry but that just makes battles more trivial than they ought to be i preffer a good old slugging match with mountains of corpses on both sides
I think two handed swordsmen are stronger than axemen. They can cause high damage against units after charging units. They look cinematic though.
@@GOGPlays i think 2h swordsmen also have more defense
Those Conquistadors are always a blast to use
They're the best sword infantry in vanilla. Only pikemen with tactics can defeat them in melee.
hi man unsure if u will see this but how do u get rid of black bars on m2tw. i dont have them on any other tw game and its only Medival 2. thanks alot
You should close the UI from game settings I remember. You are welcome.
Where are you playing pc or mobile ?
We need one for Rome Remaster as well!
Me playing M2TW for ages: I know everything
Camel riders with guns: merhaba!
Haha Moors are not a popular faction. They act like cowboys of medieval times and they're quite op. They can defeat all units with long range muskets and mobility except elephants.
@@GOGPlays I used to have full stacks of cheap Irish horsemen with arquebueses and that was OP
@@GOGPlays it actually makes sense that there are camel riders in the desert, but they were used totally different irl
Counting like all units, but must be different between infantry and missiles. Also most stronger unit in Denmark is the Obudshaer, cuz they work the same in vanilla and DLCs.
Just counting Kingdoms/DLCs in my take (and infantry most), cuz vanilla is not my cup of tea:
Spain: Tercio Pikemen
Portugal: Dismounted Portuguese Knights
England: Dismounted English Knights
France: Volguiers
Venice: Heavy Venetian Infantry
Denmark: Obudshaer
HRE: Dismounted Gothic Knights (Forlorn Hope in Teutonic and Britt)
Scotland: Noble Pikemen
Byzantium: Varanguian Guard
Turks: Hashishim
Russia: Dismounted Dvors (because they're count as heavy infantry too)
Papal States: Swiss Guard
Egypt: Hashishim too
Moors: Hashishim again loll
Hungary: Battlefield Assasins
Milan: Standard Carrocio
Sicily: Dismounted Norman Knights
Poland: Dismounted Polish Knights (and the most strong since Poland IS the wrost faction in the game)
I remember playing as england in the middle east and the mongols completely destroyed my armies
if apache?? what unit??
bro what mods are u using?
None just vanilla untouched files at this one.
England have two strongest unit in your video , I only admit the second one wasn't English Mailed Knights and was English Knights .
The second one was Normans, they had the same flag in the game.
What was the last one with two swords was it rebels?@@GOGPlays
yep they are rebels@@nothing00164
How to follow single unit in M2TW android version?
I have never played that version tbh.
How do follow the units likes that in 1:03
Press the delete button when you selected a unit.
@@GOGPlays but can your do it on mobile?
@@GOGPlaysBut on mobile?
Pikemans!!!!
music?
War of Kings from medieval 2 ost I remember.
Portugal , uk and France have the best units
Rocket luuncher(hawacha) is best!
It's the only artillery defeating late period armies. It's firepower and frequency is great, if you use them well.
Can you make one video about best unit of Byzantine this faction ? Since the last video of the best unit was mention France the faction
I made that one to show that the French unit roster has some of the best units in MTW2. Your wish sounds too specific but I may try sometime. Thanks for the suggestion👍
I think Cuauchiqueh have better stats than Jaguars.
I thought Jaguars looked more iconic for Aztecs.
@@GOGPlays Then the title should be "The most iconic units..." 😅
I'm play only reliase horse archer or rocket launchers elephant easy win reliased
For HRE it is Teuton knights. Gothic knigts in vanila are so, so overrated.
Yep, sounds reasonable but those are more iconic. If we included all the expansions, Ritterbruder should be the best. They look both dangerously cool and frighten enemy infantry.
@@GOGPlays Actually, Ritterbruder is the 2nd best unit in the game, the first one is the Cannons of the Holy Sepulchure, from Antioch Crusades campaign.
