I'm going to make a Bible cover for my father's Bible that is getting so old that I have to keep it in a gallon size ziplock bag. It still has the book tape he put on the binding to keep cover together.
It has all my father's personal notes written in it; he was a minister.
It's a family heirloom now.

I think I would do the flaps in horizontal rows from bottom to top so that the yarn patterns would be facing in the same direction as on the front and back covers.
I was tempted to do one of these just by making a weave wide enough to wrap to the insides. We'll see.

Thank you for this tutorial. I was sewing a Bible cover and with the batting and interfacing and all, I was ready to pull my hair out. Then I realized I made a crochet hook case....as well as other things, so why not do a Bible cover with yarn and my magic wand (crochet hook). This was a wonderful break down. Thank you so much.

I learned a great way to not twist the chain is take the first chain and put it on the crochet hook and then put the one your currently doing on as your in a circle. namely while your doing the first part after making the chain.

I have an answer to your fustrations with twisting the ring for the handle- go to yay for yarn and look up chainless starting double crochet. it will blow your mind.

I would like to know if the initial chains need to measure loosely or if the chain is pulled tight around the book? If I make a chain, that chain can stretch. So i don't know how I need to measure that chain. If I keep the chain relaxed that's one thing but if I pull that chain, then I need to remove chains in order for it to fit the book. Please help with this. Thanks. 🙂
Quick question from a beginner! Is there a reason that, for the inside flaps, you make the foundation chain for the height of the inside flaps & not the width? I mean, why do you make them long chains a few rows high instead of a few rows wide with lots of rows high? Does it make it easier to attach them later? Thanks!

did i get this right--ch4 and turn for DC, ch only 1 and turn for SC? I like your videos, I just discovered them recently. I just began again to crochet and I am sad I lost my original set of metal hooks from when I was a teen. I just broke a cheap plastic hook. It lasted less than 4 or 5 uses! Size 8!!

I love this video!!!! I'm going on a trip and didn't want to take the cover on my book; it doesn't stay put. I am however, having a hard time with the dimensions. Every time I chain the amount that measures the book, crochet the next row and re-measure......it's longer than the book. I then have to frog it back to the chain and delete some. Same thing happened with the inside flaps!! Any advice would be helpful!! Thanks!!❤️❤️
I don’t know if you’ve solved your problem, but you may be starting your first stitch IN THE FIRST STITCH. Start in the second stitch. Also, you could be putting multiple stitches in one stitch. These both would increase your size. When you finish a stitch, move your thumb to the next EMPTY STITCH and keep going like that. Try checking ea row for a bit to make sure you’re not doubling up on stitches. Maybe this helps….

I'd also like to ask....why a chain of 3? Wouldn't a chain 2 be better? As I'm making it, a chain 3 seems to leave more of a gap at each end. Just a thought.

You would probably need to sew together two of the sides, leaving one open to slide the ipad in/out. Then put on the handles on the opening side. I hope that helps!

If push comes to shove you could get a piece of fabric and stitch 4 little corner liners in.

Shannon Vieyra she said it in the video when making the side cover. 12 rows of dc tall. The flaps are 24 dc. So something similar?
