This five minute news segment.. doesnt scratch the surface of how much this man was a legend of the Action sports ,& BMX community. And a good Soul as well. This was a huge loss to our BMX community and action sports as a whole.! His legacy will live on forever thats for sure! I’m 38 now but I skateboarded. You always run a risk of snapping your neck or brain trauma on a freak fall. Crazy I survived as a kid. My buddy busted his spleen trying to grind a hand rail and had to be rushed to the ER. R.I.P. 🙏🏼
I’m 58. Last Memorial Day, a freak mtb accident nearly broke my neck (my PA was really nervous until I had a CT scan). As it was, I sustained a concussion that I’m still recovering from. Extreme athletes travel a fine line; sometimes it catches them up. R. I. P. Casey.
This sort of thing will unfortunately happen a lot more often as time goes on. The bar for these kind of extreme sports keeps rising. I skated for around 15 years starting from the late 80s. There's always a chance of killing yourself doing even some of the most basic tricks with a minor lapse in concentration but the kind of stuff people are doing in skating now is leagues ahead of what they were doing back then. On top of that with most of these sports like skating going mainstream and attracting more and more sponsors and big money people are pushing themselves more and more. A trick that would have been a finisher on the end of a well known pros section back then and likely one of the highlights of the whole video is now just a normal part of everyone's run.
I busted my spleen riding bmx I hit a 6 pack rhythm and on last landing handle bars went into my stomach and rode home 5 miles internally bleeding when I was 15 yrs old! Spent 6 days in ICU!
You guys are annoying to pedestrians and civilians when you ride on sidewalks and pathways, BMX riders are a whole different breed don’t lump yourself in with them. 2:01

Has some of the best SELF MADE athletes in the world. They are a different breed. And Pat will be missed. Yes!! These Superheroes don't get paid nearly enough! they willingly risk their lives for the love of the sport, but they should be compensated for the High Risks! The I.O.M. TT Races are on as we speak, Soo many riders have died @ the TT doing what they love! But it's hard to rationalise that Soccer & Basketball players get up to 100x what these guys get paid without risking their lives! Many Extreme Sportsman get paid O Zero Nada Nothing from sponsorships & pay for everything out of their own pocket- They do it for the love of the sport! 🙏RIP Pat 😞🥀🤍

RIP huge inspiration, I skate not bmx but this guy was always so fun to watch, he had such a unique style and such a deep bag of tricks, he made a huge impact in action sports and sadly left us too soon, thoughts and prayers to his family
As a person who grew up playing extreme sports, this is actually the first time I’ve ever heard of an athlete dying from the sport. Super sad. I’ve taken some pretty heavy slams doing bmx. This could’ve been anyone of us.
I keep telling my 3 sons that they have to be super careful because one wrong move and you're either in the hospital or deceased. May this family get through the loss. Many prayers !
Travelled all over the world, must have been jabbed 5 times. They don't say how he died, ie. landed on his neck, severed spinal cord, etc. He very well could have "died suddenly" while on his bike. You've seen the footage. It's very sudden. 1 to 2 seconds and they are out like a light. Sad either way, but it's criminal if it was not a true "accident".
As a young boy my friend's and did stuff like this for fun, but you guys turned it into a very respectable sport, sorry for the loss of this young man and many prayers to his family, may his fans love and keep him in there hearts RIP

Im guessing it was a neck related injury. Bmx riders should start wearing those neck donuts that prevent your neck from bending. Make no mistake, these jumps are huge. Literally made for dirtbikes. Sad to hear, rip brother.
unfortunately the rotations in BMX tricks are largely initiated and controlled by the head, the head moves and the body follows, and the neck braces heavily limit the motion of the head.
