What makes you think that? He should have raised preflop. AQs is near the top of your range but even the best hands are likely to fall behind against 3 opponents. The rest of the hand is fine and pretty much plays itself (call on the flop with two overs and some backdoors, call on the river as you now have a fair few outs to the best hand, check-raise on the river as leading with a donk bet would look really strong), but 'perfection' would have been raising preflop.
@@jaxsonbateman Yes, he could have raised with AQs as a squeeze, and there is a good chance that everyone folds and he wins the minimum (or UTG is trapping with a monster). Or he could have played it exactly like he did with AQs, which plays just fine in a multiway pot and is the way to win the maximum.

And why would everyone fold when there's already been a raise and call? Furthermore, given that he'd be 3-betting, and there was that raise and call, it's not like there's no money in the pot already. At the time he'd be 3-betting, there's over $400 in the pot - 20 blinds (or 10 if you count the straddle) without even having to make a hand is great. And then, if he does 3-bet preflop and isolate going into the flop, it's so much easier to win if he doesn't actually make a hand, because you don't need to push multiple opponents out of the hand - only one. Annnnd then, if UTG somehow does seem to have a monster here (lol at someone at this level limping with a top tier holding), he'll lose the minimum if he gets 4-bet preflop and decides to fold it down. The way you're talking makes it sound like you'll always hit something strong with your AQs, and that's just not the case. You probably have the lead preflop, or are a coin flip if someone has a pocket pair, so you take advantage of that and raise to try and isolate. If you make a hand later, cool, you can bet for value. If you don't make a hand and the texture is right for it, you can try and bluff your opponent out of the hand and still win. The best poker players aren't those that can win when they make a hand - that's easy; it's those that can win enough of the time when they don't, and that's a lot harder to do with 4 people seeing the flop.

XD Many other times he'd be forced to fold on the flop because he hit nothing, and being against 3 opponents not only would one of them have likely hit something, but trying to bluff 3 people off a pot is way, way harder than 1 person. In this specific situation he had a hand that was fine to call a flop and turn on, but many times against 3 opponents that just won't be the case. Furthermore, the hand basically played itself from the flop onwards. How would anyone half-decent really play that differently? That dealer was picking chips up to pass to the winner ! He should have been shoving the chips with open palms, chips can easily be palmed away other wise.
If you ever want someone to call a check-raise of yours, just act like you're thinking deeply about their hand and say something like, "I don't know if you have it but I think you're just trying to steal the pot."

Ron was in check calling mode. Most people playing that way want to get to showdown cheaply. Probably put him on AJ that tried to turn his hand into a bluff with an over and a paired board.

Particularly given the commentary was he had been playing textbook poker and not getting out of line all night. Then to call a $720 bet on a paired board with basically one card, the Ks as the "outs" because any other flush is beat by a possible full house. I call BS.

These games are about running over the table playing as many headsup pots as possible, small raises pf vs a bunch of limpers is idiotic. Games must be juicy then ever for old school rounders. All these people watch tourney poker and copy their bet sizing. This idiot got beyond lucky chasing with a hand that most likely needed perfect perfect in this multiway pot . Him hitting this hand was the best thing that could happen for the rest of the players at that table.
