Gotta love how Hasbro really wanted a connected continuity, and then, told each creator to just use the "squint test" to make sure everything lined up. That being said, while none of the books/games/shows line up, I do think each has their own positives and negatives. They never really seemed to line up to me when I was younger, but it was neat to see some small things kinda line up. Similar ideas, but nothing concrete. @markss367 no they weren’t, High Moon believed it shoe horned them into a corner where they couldn’t take the story in certain directions that they wanted, and even then what they made to try to tie in with prime doesn’t work anyway.
@@TEG_Barryz exept that not what the co writer and director said Hasbro gave them alot of room to develop plot threads they never say that hasbro imposed strict guidelines in the games. At least from the interviews i've read
I just consider them linked the same way the TF Prime game is linked to Prime, it doesn’t work continuity wise, but it makes sense when you consider them a shared universe, not a connected linear story. Much like the Armada game, Devastation, or the Bayverse tie-ins (Or how Bumblebee and ROTB can’t connect to Bayverse). It just makes the most sense that doesn’t involve bashing your skull against a concrete wall.
Although I like the idea of creating an entire continuity, I choose to believe that none of them are connected. Even RID2015's director Adam Beechen has spoken in an interview and on his Q&A where he says that RID was NEVER intended to be a sequel to the Prime series and sees it more as a stand-alone show despite the references.
Aren't there Prime Beast Hunters comics that literally connect the two directly after the end of the Prime. You know for the franchise Primarily designed for selling toys of car robots fight jet robots, where story is an after thought thus why it's been very well known for lore breaking continuity errors in every iteration of the franchise. Continuity errors always happen when you have two different chiefs in the kitchen, thus why there's issues even tho the story was intended to be connected, but loosely to allow for more artistic freedom which made a better end product. And besides, both being connected still has a more cohesive continuity than G1.
@@TEG_Barryz I said that because the people that made the franchise, lore was literally an afterthought the focus was just to make fun toys. That's why there's so many continuity errors across the entire franchise. People can believe it's connected and people can believe it's not. It's designed that way on purpose that way people don't have to play multiple games several companion books and multiple shows to understand one product. They did that so you can jump to any one and not be too stressed about continuity and just be entertained, For example the forced a terrible tie in of the games with the movies. (Dark Spark) You prefer WFC/FOC to be their own thing, from everything else, that's cool because they're great Transformers games but you don't have to be rude about it if sometime doesn't care to blur the lines to connect those games to something else it was intended to connect to, tho not perfectly designed to. If Hasbro really wanted to they could make a third game to make all the retcons make sense. They won't tho because that era is sadly over.
@@TEG_BarryzHe's not wrong though? Give people the same exact prompts and they both will come back with something different. Just look at the Manga of Dragon Ball Super versus the anime. Yeah, that episode where Megatron is confused as fuck that his ship is talking to him? That episode where he calls his ship the nemesis after it gains sentience instead of Trypticon? That episode?
It may hurt but RID and prime are absolutely linked while it’s just stated prime is in FOC and WFC, and because of that we can reasonably determine Prime, protectobots and RID aren’t canon because sideswipe is a new birth despite serving with bumblebee, trypticon and the nemesis are distinct characters (watch the episode, you’ll understand) and dark spark isn’t canon at all, let’s just agree regardless if theirs evidence or not (there is I just don’t feel like explaining it) so prime, rid, the dark spark and protectobots is absolutely not canon, theirs numerous reasons why grimlock, sudeswipe, the nemesis, the amount of autobots, characters and where they were not matching up, there’s just a lot of evidence to suggest what is and isn’t canon here
I was thinking about doing that for this video but honestly it would have been too long and I just want to get back to talking about the books, comics, and audio logs.
I’ve said it a few times before in past but to best understand Aligned is to look at G1 and its various continuities. Cartoon, Japan, Marvel, (Not) Marvel, Dreamwave, IDW, and so on. Recognize them under the G1 banner, even share ideas, but are completely separate in fiction.
This a great video and I agree. The Aligned Continuity is what I’d call a cluster fuck…but a very fun cluster fuck as it had its best moments and gave us some good content. Honestly if I were to go back and change something about the Aligned Continuity I’d make Prime more aligned with games like make the FOC designs have earth alt modes and make Cliff and Jazz partners again in the show.
Hasbro also says that Starscream has both no idea what dark energon is in prime but then worked on Trypticon station guarding dark energon in war. Shut up.
I’ve always hated these games being connected to TFP. Because it doesn’t make sense. Now, they can have the same background and lore established for the Aligned Continuity. The Covenant of Primus for example. Honestly, the closest the games come to aligning with anything is G1. It’s almost perfectly set up as a reimagining of the first part of G1’s opening where they leave Cybertron. It’s not perfect. The most glaring issue are the Dinobots but we’ve seen weirder retcons in TF before. Dumber ones too. Just say they were transported after the Space Bridge Explosion and they were teleported where they find the fossils and Ratchet and Wheeljack make them new bodies based on the fossils. Idk it’s the biggest problem connecting it to G1 and I think we can work around it. FFS they have the Constructicons being built on earth, then native Cybertronians reprogrammed by Megatron, to them being the ones that built Megatron! I think we can do something for the Dinobots. Another reason I like it being connected to G1 are the Combaticons. They were left behind because they fell off the Ark. Either their destroyed bodies, or minds, were recovered by someone like Shockwave or there were backups of their minds already in place should they be destroyed. Whatever the case, they can work with “Starscream’s Brigade.” As for Screamer himself, him sneaking onboard the Nemesis with his cloaking field isn’t out of the question. Ready to take over if Megs falls, or is weakened enough for him to sneakily finish off. But after going thru the Space Bridge he dies with the others in the crash. Megatron just decides to let him rejoin. Why? Because he always does it regardless of continuity. It doesn’t make sense, but he does it. That all makes more sense than it does for TFP. They were never meant to connect. It’s better for them to share the lore but be their own things. Idek how you’d explain the glaring Dark Energon problem. Starscream goes from being able to manufacture it to only referencing rumors of what it can do. Megatron had already infused himself with it only to do it again. Unlike G1, there’s less room for these kind of continuity errors and retcons.
First! FlappyPappy in the discord btw. Also just wanna point out RID Sideswipe is considered a young teenager that was birthed from the well of sparks after Optimus Prime's sacrifice, yet however we see him as a young soldier in WFC/FOC, and Bumblebee never talks to him about the war that they both fought along side each other with

I think, for me, most of the "plot holes" aren't even plot holes. The war for cybertron games Transformers Prime, the novels the comics and Rid 2015 are actually connected in many ways, I'm able to explain everything in my headcanon. But yeah in the end the Aligned Continuity is a mess.

Just imagine prime and the games separeted continuites, and the books or comics as pseudo remagining of those two, just like every G1 mídia or the situation between bayverse and the bumblebee movie
Both stories are much stronger separate. If we want a prequel to prime we have the novels and the covenant . They fit with prime’s timeline much better but I think it’s best if prime is the starting of its continuity. With it continuing to rid 2015 and rescue bots as well as rescue bots academy.
mad at u? MAD AT U i agree with u. i never read any of the aligned books or novels but i have played the cybertron games and watched tfp and rid 2015 aint no way as much as the games and prime are great they ARE NOT in the same universe
Yeah I never accepted TFP as canon either - and I was a fan of the show before I'd even experienced the games. This should honestly be a no-brainer to the fans. Both universes tell very good stories and are phenomenal experiences in of themselves. Hasbro's (or whoever) attempt to merge the two into a single cohesive universe was haphazard at best, and came off as quite desperate. It can be agreed that both continuities share certain story elements, especially in terms of backstory (Orion Pax being a Librarian, Megatron being a gladiator), but that's it. They're just two universes with similar backstories. It's because of this "merger" that we'll probably never get a third Cybertron game. And it doesn't help that when you express this sentiment in the comments section of FOC videos, you have people saying "watch TFP" which makes no sense at all. That's not to mention that concluding the story built over two games by switching entertainment mediums to a TV show is just beyond moronic. Also RiD and Dark Spark are fanfiction on account of how shit they are.
Eh I don’t think so. The games are completely different than the show in terms of arcs and characters and some other stuff. An example would be Prime Starscream being surprised that megatron survived shoving a dark energon crystal into his spark chamber even though in War for Cybertron Starscream saw Megatron get his whole body and spark infused with Dark Energon.

the aligned continuity loves contradicting itself. how many time have Prime, rescue bots, RID, and rescue bots academy contradicted each other? too many. in RBA grimlocke isn't like he is in RID, in RID for some reason the deceptions think Megatron is evil still, even though at the end of prime he said he and the deceptions were done. and so many of hand comments get contradicted "we don't breathe" meanwhile in RID get affected by knockout gas.
wait transformer prime was connect to the woc/foc game? they both a separate story to me. That's does not made sense because megatron is cybertron jet and not a cybertron tank. and another to add " dark energon " in game megatron get dark energon from starscream protect the space station to keep dark energon in store right?.. but in transformer prime megatron flying around in space to find dark energon and that starscream is surprise of dark energon like never hear of it... that abig of bs. in woc optimus befor become a prime..is was just name as " optimus " like in idw Cybertronian Security Force. and do not have any refer orion pax in woc... or maybe long time did not play the game and i did miss something. transformer prime and woc/foc are difference variant of Transformers... the story looks abit a same, but is just another version only.
While some of the characterizations of the characters are different and there definitely plot holes. I do believe there had been some conflict before the start of prime given they had mentioned on the show (it’s been a hot minute since I’ve seen prime) where the had been on earth for a while Things in the “canon” do get debunked after the next thing comes out canon or not I think it’s a cool idea and adds to the story since you are following inconsistent but relatively the same version of the characters from the beginning to end.
The halo franchise is another one that comes to mind that suffers from this issue. It started a little in reach and became a wider issue in 4 Franchises just be like that
I wholeheartedly disagree with _Exodus_ being canon to WFC and not contradicting anything from the game as it literally replaces the game with similar but distinctly different events, and it has direct sequels leading into _Transformers Prime._ Now, I have no clue how well those books connect to _Prime_ having never read any but _Exodus;_ but _Exodus_ alone _does_ fit _Prime_ fairly well, and certainly better than either fit WfC imo.
By the way guys, forgot to bring it up in the video (I also just didn’t want to bring it up) but obviously rise of the dark spark isn’t canon either.

I think the games can connect to prime, but the books cannot connect to the games
I think your looking at it while squinting
@@soliz9256 the fall of cybertron audio logs kind of fix this, they are apparently not the same type of dark energon, again I could be wrong but I think that’s what Ironhides audio log was trying to fix
@@foxyplayz1399 yeah, it’s a squint and it fits kind of thing, it’s more so certain things you’ll have to fit the puzzles yourself instead of it being directly explained, there’s like two or three things that cannot fit under no circumstances
@@thabsoffical.-8742 I would have to check it out. Imo I treat the allign continuity as more so a format than a connected story. I just think of it as
1. Oppression by the “AutoBots” cause the war
2. Cybertron falls due to poison to the core or all spark being launched off the planet
3. Decpticons and AutoBots leave cybertron
What is the music you use in the background: A cover of the River by Puscifiier?
How many comics does IDW have for war for cybertron and fall of cybertron I’d like to get my hands on all of them and read them
Nearly almost every transformers shows and movies are their own continuities
Mb for asking but can u do a video of what happened to the ark in foc and the rest of the autobots missing?
Bro got 1 shot💀
After years and years pass I just have my own canon in my head being the
- Transformers One
- Some missions of Transformers Cybertron Adventures
- WFC
- FOC
- Transformers Prime
- The comics that shows how dinobots survive on cybertron with others when team prime is on earth
I know, some things dont match up, well hell most of them, but i just like it that way :)
Anyone have any new ideas what to add there similar to it, comics or something?
It's the same case with Gundam the Origin and the OG Gundam Show
finally someone said it
What is the soundtrack in the background if this video? It sounds like the humbling River but heavily edited?
On paper both prime and the games have the same or similar plot points that when looked at from a single time line it makes no sense
Case and point the arcee and cliffjumper in kaon
The whole thing with the space bridge.
Ahh I’m a prime fan but this doesn’t bother me bro not one bit lol
I love the moment I clicked this video, I just see the most absolute negative comments lmao. Also great vid by the way. A lot of shit thats in the TF Prime doesn't connect well with the cybertron games. Although they're both peak so I dont care. Things like "how did slug survive" in the sewers he was flooded. Looking at the comments below, the moment I saw you shit talking those guys I was like "what the fuck?". I mean it makes sense though and they're not wrong. Although in Prime there was a Trypticon design that did appear in the computers in the episode. Not arguing or anything so yeh. Either way I subbed so yeh great vid bro. Try not be a dick or anything cause I can tell your a good guy.
the best tf content creatir rn
I kinda always assumed the Cybertron games were prequels to G1 or some form of G1, like Transformers Devastation
the aligned continuity loves contradicting itself. how many time have Prime, rescue bots, RID, and rescue bots academy contradicted each other? too many. in RBA grimlocke isn't like he is in RID, in RID for some reason the deceptions think Megatron is evil still, even though at the end of prime he said he and the deceptions were done. and so many of hand comments get contradicted "we don't breathe" meanwhile in RID get affected by knockout gas.
RAHHHH RESCUE BOTS MENTIONED!!!!! WTF IS A BAD EPISODE???!!!!??!?!?!?!?@?@!!🤯🤫🔨
wait transformer prime was connect to the woc/foc game? they both a separate story to me.
I do believe there had been some conflict before the start of prime given they had mentioned on the show (it’s been a hot minute since I’ve seen prime) where the had been on earth for a while
Things in the “canon” do get debunked after the next thing comes out canon or not I think it’s a cool idea and adds to the story since you are following inconsistent but relatively the same version of the characters from the beginning to end.
The halo franchise is another one that comes to mind that suffers from this issue. It started a little in reach and became a wider issue in 4
Franchises just be like that
Yeah. This is why Fall of Cybertron for all its good. Is one of the biggest story flubs in the Alighted continuity.
