My first MM&FF was back in ‘94 I think. It had the Orange Crush coupe of David Zuralow I believe. Bought every issue since until the last copy. What a great rag. Thanks for all you do for the Mustang community Evan
Another great video Evan, thanks to Brian for discussing this with us. Anxious to see just how well the Godzilla performs on the track once things are dialed in. I would like to see more videos on the Cyclone Wagon in the near future, being a Cleveland fan and owning one, but be interesting to see what mods if any you go with. Mine is a '73 351C 2v, so any ideas would be appreciated for street performance without breaking the bank.
So Quick Question, my pickup has a built 460, C6 2.75 gears and 35x12.50s if I did a regular dyno test in 3rd gear just a 2-5k pull goes from 70-180mph... tires just rated for 95 mph, since there aren't any hub dynos near me wouldn't I need to test in 1st gear? Wouldn't that skew results severely
Listen carefully. A steady state (rpm) hp test should match the "inertia corrected" HP curve at that rpm. This is VERY important. This is a cheat. Magazines play games with "corrected HP" depending on who bought a 2 page ad. There has been an enormous discrepancy between BS hotrod magazine types claiming 600 flywheel HP, then making 350whp on a dynojet. Dynojets have become a resource for the average hot rodder to see that the trick of the week BS part isn't quite what the (paid for advertising) magazine said it was
I understand what you are saying and not sure if I would call it a cheat anymore than correcting to STP vs SAE J1349. It is a standard, what I would call a cheat is when someone dials up the intertia factor to produce a dyno sheet that has shows more power than the engine would produce steady state. As mentioned going down the track the engine accelerates much faster than the engine dyno at even 600 RPM/sec.
Always good to hear about dyno's and the factors that improve or hurts the number. It would be nice to see the numbers on an engine (test mule) on a hot day say in the 90's and then one in the 70's to see what the temp does for and against. Just to get a ballpark on percentage gained/loss.
The losses you mentioned would be different for every combination. IAT deltas fluctuate depending on temperature, humidity, acceleration rate, VE, etc...

Dyno Don approves this message! Bob Glidden F'Yeah!
Looking forward to seeing Brian Wolfe Mustang in the winners circle.
Love the t-shirt!! Local 194 here🤙🏼
Good information to think about and keeping it logical . I always like hearing what Brian has to say . Cheers 🍻 👍
Great video Evan & Brian, thank you!
More would be great!
Thank you this was a awesome episode!! Great! information on how there are so many different factors involving getting numbers for your application
Thanks for that Evan . You the man 🤺

I have some opinions on this but do not have direct experience, so would suggest you discuss with who is doing the chassis dyno work.
Great information.
All good advice..
Bumped sticker sucks, but good info!🐍
Sorry about that, but thanks for liking the content, appreciate you being able to seperate the two topics.

@@brianwolfe2993 Sorry for the misunderstanding. My point was also about abusing inertial correction.

@@kylemilligan752 No problem, was not certain so just wanted to add my perspective.
