  • I head back into the bush for an epic weekend of fishing, bushcraft and exploration. I sleep in a cave, fish a beautiful river, cook up a feast and just enjoy myself in the Aussie wilderness.
    Hope you all enjoy.

    @10:26 Even how remote and wild this is , you can distinctly hear the hum of a jet engine overhead. Its incredible how we have taken over this planet as a species. But this countryside is just amazing. Thanks for sharing again Scotty.

    I consider you a very lucky young man, Scotty, to be able to trek out for only 2 hours and come upon such beauty. I am old enough to remember doing that same thing here in the USA on a crisp winter's morning. But, sadly, these places, in many parts of our great land, are becoming over used by people who do NOT have the respect for nature and the responsibility for stewardship of the wilderness. They leave behind a trail of plastic and tin and other garbage which has no place in the wilderness and they care little about policing up after themselves, as if there will be some kind of "magical" cleanup crew coming in after their departure to pick up their mess.
    I have few things left on my "bucket list" but one of them is to visit Australia and your neighbors to the east of you in New Zealand. I have a need to lay eyes on your natural beauty and to hear and feel the climate and the sights and sounds of your outback and the wonderful places which we do not have the opportunity to have here for our outdoors pleasure.
    Keep up the nice videos and don't let a few ornery fish get to you, I have thrown baits of all kinds and descriptions from casting, spinning, deep sea, and surf, and fly rods at those fish and I know that, once you learn to think like a fish, your luck will improve immensely. Regardless of the fishing luck, you still have the benefit of all of those wonderful pristine wilderness scenes in your "backyard" of which to enjoy and be thankful for the chance to be a part.

    Hello from the Southwestern US. I liked your video. You've got a calm demeanor and a quite way that makes the escapism that you portray very enjoyable. It made me want to go to Australia for a vacation. I'll look forward to future videos.

  • @RubyPlanet81
    @RubyPlanet81 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Also, I just wanted to say thank you for your videos. It is such a joy for those of us who are unable to get out there and explore the beauty of nature.
    Please don't be disheartened by fishing. The best pleasure is to just be amongst nature and experience the peace of wildlife and the environment. It is a bit like golf in the sense that you're there for fun, fresh air and the great outdoors. The beautiful shots or fish you land are a lovely bonus. Also, it is quite difficult to fish with lures as a first timer without instruction. Bait works best and it is also true that our rivers, estuaries and oceans have been over fished but most are making a comeback. Please keep doing what you do. Those of us with very young children, disabilities etc really appreciate your work and passion for the environment as we currently can't explore the bush but can experience joy vicariously through your work in the meantime. Thank you

    .......Great video, Scotty, and beautifully done. This is one of my favorites !!....Thank you for teaching respect and preservation of historical artifacts and locations.....You have asked for input and fishing tips to catch more fish....I am no expert but I will try and be brief on what works for me......You fish waters that are great looking and usually are very clear.....Your choice of rod and reel is a popular one. Clear water calls for line that is harder to see....my favorite for panfish ( eating size ) is six pound test...8 at the most. Smaller lures catch big fish too. I use 1/16th to 1/8th oz leadhead jigs and carry a small assortment of plastic grubs and twister tails up to 2 1/2 inches long in several colors. I carry a few small foam floats (corks) just big enough to float the lure to allow a slower and longer presentation in the deeper pools ...or you can fish jigs without the cork and bounce them along just off the bottom and around structure like trees and dropoffs..... Fish seek their comfort zones just like humans do....If the upper layer of water is too warm or cold for them....they go a little deeper.....They are also sensitive to bright sunlight because they have no eye lids......so look for them along shady banks or in deeper pools.....With this type of gear I have caught many fishfrys and hard fighting bass that caught me by surprise.....You have to play them longer and try to keep them away from snags.....Hope this works for you......Good fishing and best wishes ......

    I like that you put the fishing on your vid even though no fish were caught
    Social media these days normally only show success and young people come to expect success all the time
    It's very important to see that sometimes it doesn't work out
    PS hunting and fishing is more misses then hits, don't get discharged

    Fishing - try to match the lure to the colour of the water if possible. soft plastics work a lot better and are much cheaper. You should also be targeting sunrise/sunset. Learning different retrieve techniques will help a lot too. Catch em!

    For me, European, it is quite interesting to see new plants in your videos that I haven't seen, wombats, etc. Also it is cool that north is the warm side while here south is the warm side. And also in our hemisphere the sun moves from left to right when looking at south. So when you look at north in Australia does it move from right to left? Very interesting. Never been to the southern hemisphere.

    The dug up ground can be pigs or a wombat looking for yams. In the southeast coastal rivers bass migrate down stream to brackish waters in autumn to breed and head back around the end of spring. Plus when the water temperature stay below 12c the native fresh water crayfish go into hibernation and reemerge when the water temperature stays above 12c. So that could be the reason why there is no fish. I assume you were on the south coast if not I can not reason why you didn't,t catch a fish. Great video again Scotty.
