Theodore was actually the son of David Haviland, the founder if the Haviland Porcelain Company! His father sent him to the United States to handle U.S. operations in around 1853. One if Theodores idea was to put a set of their china in every household, it was even advertised in the Sears & Roebuck catalog!
Theodore was born in France & his father sent him to New York City around 1863 to run the American part of their porcelain company.
