As the Dragon Boat Festival is approaching, the air is filled with the refreshing scent of reed leaves. When I was little, I would ask mom to make plain sticky rice dumplings for me during this season. But this time, I decided to make something differnt. I've made rice dumplings with collybia albuminosa, ham, rose petals and jujube paste. What's your favorite flavor?

Out of nowhere my tears just burst out... I guess it’s homesickness. Zongzi is one of my favorite Chinese signatures, every Dragonboat Day my mom will make them, savory or sweet. Haven’t gone back to China in years now, I miss every part of it! Thank you so much for making those amazing videos!
Zen Wang A hug to you Dear. I understand how you feel. I lived a same peaceful countryside life when I was young. I didn’t realize how happy I was during those days especially all Chinese traditional festivals when the big family gathered. Step by step, I left the village, left the town, left the city, and finally left China. I thought I am chasing a dream life in the remote countries with poems, then I find out my dream still stays in that small peaceful and beautiful village.

When I was a child, Grandma would make zongzi all by herself, choosing and washing leaves, preparing sticky rice, wrapping them one by one, and I didn't bother to help her. The plainest kind with sesame/sugar dig was my favorite. Simple but savory. She left me 2 years ago, God I miss her.

Watching her, I can see how ordinary Chinese people live in these days. Absolute peace and happiness. Here in South Korea, we feel the same things. We overcame many difficulties and enjoy what we achieved. We live in peace too. In fact, we share the very similar lives. Many thanks. I will visit Sacheon, China someday.

When you sit to eat I've noticed there are not any drinks. Is that customary? 💙
You mean non-alcohol drinks? In China when there are soups on the table, people just drink soup instead of soft drinks. Alcohol is another story though. However if it's a feast for some occasion, there will be both soft and alcohol drinks.

제가 스무살 때 학교에서 교수님 동행 하에 동기 선배들과 상해에 15일 정도 교육 겸 여행간 적이 있었는데, 그 때 항주 소주에 잠깐 놀러가서 쫑즈 먹었던 기억이 있습니다. 고기가 든 쫑즈 였는데 정말 맛있었던 기억이 나네요. 어느 명절에 먹는 풍습이 있다고 어렴풋 기억이 나는데, 그 스무살이 벌써 14년 전이군요... 갑자기 아련해집니다.
