95% of those captains have no idea how to trim their outboards. In heavy seas, trim them up to push the stern down and bring the bow up.
Amazing to see these people who live here and obviously know the conditions don’t empty the bow of their passengers. I worked fishing boat 40 plus years ago and we’d tell people to leave the bow while we moved from location to location if conditions were gnarly.
Also. To see so many boat’s designed with horrible view of what’s directly in front of them. Moron designs.

Most of captain's in this video have no clue what they should do. So I think they lack experience or are just stupid.
Again, we see children with no PFD’s on. If the adults choose not to wear them, so be it. But those adults have to insist on the children having them on. What was the outcome of that woman being swept overboard in 2020? Hopefully that guy that dove in saved her and didn’t end up as a statistic.
The guy who dove in and tried to save her had no life jacket on either.
mystery boat is the "kit full-o-fun #2" These kits are fun to put together and are commonly found at the bottom of most inlets & lakes. went out of business in '97 (sinking sails)

The Fountain at around 2:30 seemed to handle the waves really good for it's size.
Yeah, he seemed to have at least some basic skill. He miscalculated a little bit near the end and got some splash, but he was never out of control. The white invincible handled it like a champ though!

Saw a pontoon come cruising by with a guy sitting on top of the outboard with a beer. Later talked to him the steering cable broke, he had his feet on the transom and was 'steering with his butt'.
That boat at 8:30. All people drinking, more people onboard then allowed and to close with gold key, nobody in lifeguards. Ridiculous!!!! Life doesnt have value? Come on people!!!!

I wonder if that Dusky wasn't overloaded to start with? It's a 25, right? Back of the envelope calculation says it should carry 14 people, but that assumes 150 lbs each, and there were maybe 2 of the 9 passengers who were under 200. It also assumes ideal conditions, which Haulover pretty much never is.
yeah..the engine died..we can hear it begging for mercy on the way out of the inlet...it was overloaded..also thats a rig that doesn't belong there on most days.
Maybe put couple more big people in it???

We sailed an Irwin 10-4 out of Monty Trainer's in the "80s and I never saw insanity to this degree. About the worst thing that happened was boats getting too close for the Regatta or a catamaran flipping. These people seem to be oblivious to the strength of the sea. They are standing into danger.
Amazing how they overload what looks like a toy boat that actually has no business out there. Some are proud of their dinghy! 😂

The first thing you DON'T do is dive in after her with no flotation. That just makes for 2 people to rescue.

It should be scary for everyone and in particular for those with experience that a skipper with no license, no training whatsoever can go through this busy inlet with over 40 footers at 50+ miles an hour. The waves make visibility very poor, there could be someone swimming for all you know and you could have to avoid them in last second decision, where do you go? boats don't stop or turn like cars do, so? over the jet-ski, over the pontoon boat loaded with the entire family or collide with the big yacht ? I know, your freedom, well you should go exercise your freedom to drive dangerously where it is safe for everyone and where you can get more hours behind the wheel to get confirmed as skipper. Someone will loose their life and many will cry. Not mentioning that the channel just emphasize the above as everyone wants their moment of glory. I boat every week and for the last 50 years, so I admit the years have made me more quiet with the levers but I was licensed even before getting my IMO certification and I avoid those places if I can. Worse is that the day something really bad happens and it will all of us voyeurs will make the channel counter roll over 6 digits.

As for LEO presence there it's just to let people know they're in the area. No one ever likes the Cops until they need one then bitch about why they're not there sooner............smh Why hasn't the county/city put a speed limit in that inlet is beyond me.

Most have no consideration for the safety of their passengers, children!!! Not experienced, total disregard for safety...... do not know what else to add..... 🤦♂️...... Mmmmm..... maybe ego and alcohol play a role as well. What do I know???!!!! Some are trying to sink their boats, some try to drown their passengers!!!! Dangerous!!! Have been on 5 MSC Cruises, member and experience in the NSRI (National Sea Rescue Institute) in Namibia, South Africa......I think their are more "Cowboy 🤠 Skippers" over in the US 🇺🇸 😳...... It's troubling to see these police boat(s) always come out for absolutely nothing, the towboat is there, why not let the boaters call the police if they need them? This guy is getting paid to cruise around all day in a million dollar boat, burning untold gallons of gas. Really, lets rethink water cops. And worse, they are most likely a retired (on disability) cop from some northern city.

Nothing troubling about that at all. There is also enough stupidity in the area that warrants them and rescue to be there - go binge through this channel and that of wavy boats and you will see why they hang around there. I would rather cops be there than sitting behind a sign trying to radar for speeders on a straight highway.
