I’m so glad I stumbled upon your page! I’m a current grad student going for a masters in IT with a concentration in cybersecurity. There’s probably one other black woman in my program but I’m glad to see more black women getting into the field
Idk how I stumbled upon your videos but I’m so happy I did. I plan on learning how to code (self-teaching) this month and the information you gave in prior videos has helped me out a lot. Keep the videos coming!
There are plenty of opportunities for apprenticeships. The workforce will pay you to learn and give you specialized training to receive certifications. I recommend looking into it.
So glad I came across you video. I’m in the healthcare. I’m not passionate about it anymore and very interested in the tech world but not sure exactly to go for..
I get this question soo much for people in healthcare! I’m definitely going to do a video on it bc I want to see all my healthcare baddies become tech baddies (if they want to lol)
I needed this! I graduated high school during 2021 and I quickly rushed into Nutrition an Food and then dropped it then tried again with Public Health, however, I realized the healthcare field is something im no longer passionate about. Tech was something I was interested in but I wasn't sure how to start. Anywhoo, im so happy I found your channel, im about to binge watch this series.
I’m so happy I found your channel, I’m about to binge watch all of your content, you had me at majoring in African American studies (I was an Africana studies major too)
I am sorry for the delay but so happy you are here! Yes my Africana Studies background is what motivates me to keep sharing the information I have. I want us to win, always!
I am glad I stumbled on this video. I am trying to transition into a career in tech. I am looking to see if I should get certificates or Masters in software developer. Thanks for sharing your story.
Thank you for watching! You may also be interested in some of my other videos if you are looking to get into software development! There are a lot of options to learn that are relatively inexpensive!
nicole . young thank you! I think our stories are similar. I would always steer away from heavy math and science classes in college. I just recently decided I want to go into tech. I’m not sure which specific area in tech I want to go in , how do I go about selecting the right field in tech for me?
@@cocoababby6321 Hey I'm newly heading towards tech as well. I am a business analyst at my company and work closely with IT and I'm more so interested in the design aspect not so much coding but UI/UX design.
Omg so glad I found this video! You’re dope.. I’m going into tech and so nervous but so excited! Ready for the challenge I know it’s going to be hard work.. any advice for first starting out? God bless you gorgeous XOXO
Sis! TH-cam hid your comment but I’m so excited for you! My biggest word of advice is to Stay consistent. Whatever you goal is, making a daily habit to stay with it is crucial when you’re just getting into it. The more consistent the quicker you’ll see progress!
I agree! There is so much more than programming in this industry. There are a few places to network virtually right now. The FB group in my description is one place - FB Groups in general are so good. There are a couple geared toward black women in tech!
The best way to learn is to DO. I would suggest finding some good resources to start doing practice projects. There are challenge websites like HackerRank that can be helpful or you can find tutorials and follow along with instructors in C++ on TH-cam!
You are such an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us🙏I’m thinking of studying info technology at 23, with no prior IT experience. Did you have any other concerns with what stage you were at when going into the field? For me, i feel like I’m too late into the game.
I felt that way too but its never too late, I started around that same age too. One of my favorite colleagues that I've ever worked with started learning to code at 40 with no prior experience, he was a carpenter prior and now he's one of the best coders I know (only 3 years later). It's never too late!!
Hello! I’m currently a high school graduate. I’m having trouble debating whether I should get a degree or just get certifications. Do you think it would be wiser in the long end to have a formal degree? Considering us as black women are looked down on in the hiring process.
There is definitely a lot to consider for your future right now! It would really depend on what field you are interested in, where you obtain any certifications (make sure they are from accredited programs) and how you plan to get the experience. If university isn’t for you that’s ok! Just make sure you are still preparing for the job force in other ways. Your experience and ability to do the work will always be the most important thing when trying to get hired. Those things paired with your background experiences will make you an asset to any team or company. If they don’t see it it’s their loss!!
Girl! I didn't event really know what coding was before the startup. Most of what I learned was through exposure! I'll make sure I talk more about that in my next video
I wouldn't recommend school. There are lots of bootcamps and online certs that can help you get into the field in as little as 3 months. School is too expensive, not worth it lol

Im new to coding
Welcome!! What have you gotten into so far? Have you started with any languages yet?
My thing is that programming is the only thing considered as "tech"... I'm a black woman pursuing networking

I'm trying to learn c++ right now and i was wondering what is good way to understanding and practicing codes

@@nicoleyoungtech Thank you very much !
you already had coding experience before the start up? or you learned from there as your beginning experience?
Girl! I didn't event really know what coding was before the startup. Most of what I learned was through exposure! I'll make sure I talk more about that in my next video
nicole young wow so you were just thrown right into it
Just discharged from the Marines looking to get into I.T. Do you recommend school at all or just doing the online Crete?
Certs*
I wouldn't recommend school. There are lots of bootcamps and online certs that can help you get into the field in as little as 3 months. School is too expensive, not worth it lol
Am a new beginner in tech training but don't no the one to go for
can you help me out
Feel free to reach out and ask any questions you have!
What state was the tech start-up in?
Pennsylvania - Pittsburgh has a cute little tech hub that is growing with startups
Don't take this the wrong way but you look like Azriel Clary
