I am rooting for you! please never give up!

hows it going, sir? What are you studying to help you?
Saved $2 and lost a motivated, kickass employee. Glad you came out on top, but this should be a lesson to hr managers everywhere to treat employees with respect.
For real tho!!! 💯💯💯
Well said!
Absolutely! Match value with value
pretty sure this has nothing to do with "respect" but some sort of tax thing.
@@painexotic3757 I agree in a big picture way. The employer demonstrated having more respect for keeping their books in order than the value of a good employee.
It's not a stupid move, if the bottom line outweighs keeping hard workers who pay attention.
@@painexotic3757 Even as a tax thing, it was eye opening that this is the tax bracket I'm fighting for. That tax bracket wasn't worth the effort I was putting in.
As soon as you said the missing $2 to get to a $40k salary bothered you, I subscribed and liked this video - I'm with you man! That's some corporate BS. Good for you for changing your path, I know it takes a lot of work and it's not easy!
hahaha, thank you Bronte! Glad you could relate, cuz that felt like an insult back then. But I always remind myself, "rejection is redirection", and I'm glad that $2 was the redirection I needed to make this career switch!

That powerful "Rejection is Redirection"
@@rootstechnology Hey, I come from Czechia. Just out of curiosity, is this like an American way by managers to say to the demanding employee ,,allright, I´m gonna give you the raise but I really do not want to,, :D I mean is it typical in US or is ti more like an exception among managers or employers in general? Good luck with the career, anyway!
I laughed so hard when I heard that cause that would piss me off too for some reason lol
@@rootstechnology actually tax bracket in US jumps up at around $40K income, so they saved you money there probably, because if they gave you above $40K you'd be taxed 12% instead of 10% if it's below $40K.

Sorry about that, Chris. I'm sure it's a lot rougher given that situation. Java especially, isn't beginner friendly either, so that's it's own thing. I usually recommend students start with an easier programming language to learn like JavaScript or Python, before moving to more complex languages to learn like Java and C++, etc. I don't know if you have time for that, but if so, maybe it might help. Hello, I'm a (female) first-generation Canadian with Somali immigrant parents. Your video helped me so much since I was also looking into boot camps because of the fear of debt Also to find the fastest way to get a good job without getting into debt. I'm still young (just turned 18) and since I'm graduating high school in two weeks I want to know what to expect and learn from other people. I see myself in you, which did help me clear some suspicions on the matter, but never the less thank you for sharing your story it really helped me. Thank you truly!!
Glad you're inspired, Tide!

This is encouraging... I just started learning Java programming with the hope of getting a better job. It can be quite daunting having a full time job and going to school. But I’m pushing myself knowing that at the end, it will be worth it. I am also from Nigeria, let’s talk more if that’s okay with you.
Hi Chidi, good to see you learning on your own! I personally don't recommend Java to beginners, as it's really hard to learn as your first language. Even me that's been an engineer for years, I don't like doing Java, so I can't imagine a beginner trying to learn it. I've seen Java stop too many people in their coding journey because of how hard it is.
I'd recommend you start with web development fundamentals: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
After that, Python. But, I wouldn't bother doing Java at all.

Saw your video at the beginning of 2021 and followed your steps.

Can't even lie, it felt uncomfortable, and still feels uncomfortable lol. But, I'm managing. Thanks for watching!
I’m in that spot now. I just got promoted and I felt like they just threw me a few more dollars to do 5x the work. They also just added me to a billing team that’s in California. Taught me how to do everything they do, but I get paid less... their excuse was California has a higher cost of living than Dallas. So yeah I’m done lol. I’m studying code every day & I’m saving 4-5 months of bills/rent to really start building something.
Hi Catina. Sorry about that. I really hate the crappy way companies treat the people doing the work to sustain the business.
I'm glad you're taking matters into your hands by learning how to code though. That's inspiring. Currently learning Python and reached a point where I'm getting discouraged because of that sudden spike in difficulty. It'll be worth it in the end though. Thanks for sharing this man!

It’s true they come here so hungry and it pays. God bless America
When you do learn Ruby or any other language just remember this when you start out and know nothing about coding:
As you learn to code you will see and then design very simple codes that are super easy to understand.
Now as you learn other stuff and add to that simple code you will see how that simplistic code builds up over time to look very hard indeed.
What keeps it simple is when you have line numbers turned on
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for sharing. The major thing I learned from this is how important it is to be open and share. It's easy to keep things to yourself and be comfortable, but by being proactive and open, you were able to bring multiple opportunities to you.
Yeesss! I'm glad you picked up on that lesson, that's one of the most important things! People can't find or help you if they don't know what you're doing and what you need help with. And, it's important to start doing for others while you don't immediately need anything too.
Great takeaway!

I was a full-time musician in my country. Then I move to the US in 1994 I was 28 yrs. My English was bad. I had all kinds of crazy jobs, dishwasher, landscaping, etc. Then I had this girlfriend that was attending college and she said to me: why don't you study something? I wanted to impress her, so I took the admission test and passed it. I got into a Computer Programming degree. Best decision of my life! I love technology and love my carrier. It is a myth that you have to be a "Math Wiz", basic Algebra will do and logic. Anyone can do it! You don't even need a degree, in fact, colleges and universities only give you the tools to begin the rest is all you! Today there are so many FREE resources to become a CS or a Software Engineer.

@@rootstechnology you are awesome, thank you so much!!
What everyone missed was the deadline he gave himself. He manifested that date by writing it down.
Everything else went unscripted.
Dont dream, write down what you want, when you want it and never look at that note again.
If you read this, tomorrow will bring success.
Exactly! Good insight! I firmly believe in manifestation, it’s been major in my life. Glad you picked up on that!
Thank you for tuning in and subscribing to my channel!
@@rootstechnology Awesome. Yeah I manifested literally everything I have in my life.
Sometimes I write so much notes, I keep forgetting if I manifested this or that. Lol
You are inspirational brother. Stay strong and inspiring. ✊🏾
@@rootstechnology I also picked up on this as I've heard many ppl say you should write a deadline for a goal...can you do this for multiple goals and how did you do it? Did you write it then never look at it again
@@ACTUALLYrussell Yeah, you can create a deadline for multiple goals. I just picked a date that I wanted to have the goal done by, then put it on a piece of paper and hung it up by my desk where I saw it every single day! It was a constant reminder, so it was always on my mind.
I think that's the key. Write the goal down, then make it visible to see everyday as a reminder.
thank you
Blessings my brother. I am also a self taught software engineer. I only picked up a book to get started.
I can honestly relate when you were describing your learning journey. I too did those coding marathons, at times even over 12 hours because the time was there for me and I was very much interested. This was because I quit a job I lost interest in.
3 months later I secured my first role as a junior, very low salary to begin with but I wanted it (Knowledge and experience). This is where I gained much of the knowledge and experience I hold to date. I moved on from that employer.
Where I’m at now I can do so much more and specialise in different technologies. The bigger picture is for me to be in a position to roll out solutions for businesses and organisations as well as giving back and most importantly solving problems.
Very pleased to hear about your journey, once again Blessings.
