Me too man. I’m a yard jockey (trucker) for a company that is a 3rd party for Amazon, but I am desperate to crack into this line of work. Especially having gotten my bachelors degree. But in the middle of 2020 when all of the hiring freezes were strongest. How can I break!

As soon as you said the missing $2 to get to a $40k salary bothered you, I subscribed and liked this video - I'm with you man! That's some corporate BS. Good for you for changing your path, I know it takes a lot of work and it's not easy!

Just out of curiosity, is this like an American way by managers to say to the demanding employee ,,allright, I´m gonna give you the raise but I really do not want to,, :D I mean is it typical in US or is ti more like an exception among managers or employers in general? Good luck with the career, anyway!
I laughed so hard when I heard that cause that would piss me off too for some reason lol
@@rootstechnology actually tax bracket in US jumps up at around $40K income, so they saved you money there probably, because if they gave you above $40K you'd be taxed 12% instead of 10% if it's below $40K.
Saved $2 and lost a motivated, kickass employee. Glad you came out on top, but this should be a lesson to hr managers everywhere to treat employees with respect.

@@painexotic3757 I agree in a big picture way. The employer demonstrated having more respect for keeping their books in order than the value of a good employee.
It's not a stupid move, if the bottom line outweighs keeping hard workers who pay attention.
@@painexotic3757 Even as a tax thing, it was eye opening that this is the tax bracket I'm fighting for. That tax bracket wasn't worth the effort I was putting in.
From $40k to 125k, only 3 years! That was a really fast progress!
Yeah, I basically changed jobs every 11 months, and that helped to quickly increase my salary because I kept asking for more money each time lol

@@AnoNymous-2013 if they don't increase your salary enough to what your worth is move on to somewhere you're appreciated. It's that simple, every relationship should be reciprocity. It's somewhere you'll be appreciated, find it
@@AnoNymous-2013 for some reason, something negative always happened at work around 11 months that made me want to leave lol, and that ended up being a blessing.

I'm in the same boat man, I'm only 27 but I've been an arborist for 5 years and did construction before that. I'm burnt out on blue collar work and I'm starting to think about what I want my future to look like. Always loved working with computers on the side and I'm slowly learning programming on the side. Currently teaching my self python programming. love watching young black people like me who got into the tech industry the unconventional way because it Gives me a little hope that I am not “wasting my time” like my family thinks.
No, you aren't wasting your time at all. To help you be more effective, I recommend you find a mentor that can help guide and tutor you, and that you learn React JS and Python, along with all the other tools and technologies you'll need to know in between. If you're interested, I teach my students these at www.RootsTechnology.info, and I help them prepare for the job search as well.

@@rootstechnology I also picked up on this as I've heard many ppl say you should write a deadline for a goal...can you do this for multiple goals and how did you do it? Did you write it then never look at it again
@@ACTUALLYrussell Yeah, you can create a deadline for multiple goals. I just picked a date that I wanted to have the goal done by, then put it on a piece of paper and hung it up by my desk where I saw it every single day! It was a constant reminder, so it was always on my mind.
I think that's the key. Write the goal down, then make it visible to see everyday as a reminder.

The most math you'll do in web development is usually counting from 1-12. That's just adding, and I'm sure you can do that.

My memory has been affected by my depression and anxiety. I struggle to retain information and I oftentimes feel like giving up. I feel so useless.
