Thanks for this run through - I never knew about the one 'fortune effect rule'. Some players are more forward and daring than others, so I use a little house rule - if a PC earns a Hero Point, it is for the whole party - so all PCs gain a Hero Point at that moment. To balance this, I don't award them often.

That is actually a fantastic idea to keep it fair and spread out for the party while not loading everyone up, and keeps you from having to search for things to give points out for!

To date, as a GM, I've mostly simply awarded them for completing challenging combat. Thanks to this video, I'll be expanding that to personal awards, as well. Also, your videos deserve a better following than you're getting so far. Good stuff, Mr. Sly.

Thanks for that and for watching! I really appreciate it!
I'm glad the video gave you some ideas and I'll try to keep the videos up!

I also like to give hero points when very cinematic events occur. Last session at the end of a combat all the pcs were tied up in melee and mostly unable to assist anyone else. The cleric rolled a nat 20 to crit against the monster he and the wizard were fighting which free the wizard to do other things. The rogue crit his attack killing his monster. The monk brought his monster down to 2 hp. As the monster was sliding off the rogues rapier the wizard used telekinesis (I think that is the spell) to throw that monster into the monks monster causing 4 damage and ending the combat. Yes the wizard is limited to 1 bulk with the spell but it was such a cool end to the combat I allowed it. The wizard has more damaging spells available but they did not have th3 same Rule of Cool factor to end the combat the way the wizard did. The combat could not have happened like that without everyone doing what they did so hero points for everyone. 👍

That sounds like a great series of events! Telekinetic Projectile maybe?

@@slystrategist that was probably the one.
He also has used Needles to very good effect in the campaign.

Hardest part of hero points is remembering them. Both as a player and as a GM.

Absolutely! Remembering is actually pretty difficult. I try to remember at the beginning of the session but in the game is the hardest to remember.

To make easy us of foundry with hero point as a player you should be able to right click the chat roll window and reroll with a hero point.

instead of giving out 1 point to 1 player when they do something kinda kool. i reserver it for when anyone does something amazing, but everyone is inpired by it, so they all gain a point. its a team game, all are inspired by someones act, that dont just inspire themselves

That is a great way to look at it and very similar to another suggestion in the comments as well! IT's a good reason why everyone get one!

@@slystrategist also makes it easier for dm to track. dont have to worry about accidental favouritism, have i given that player too much, that one enough? all get 1 anytime something epic happens. along with strategy and success. i also give out for good roleplay. reward my players for trying, cuz we all nervous introverts that are shy about getting into character
