Which is why all these cops are corrupt and should go to jail, not get gold badges. Confessions through torture and beatings are not only unconstitutional, when discovered they free guilty people by getting evidence thrown out and frequently get innocent people convicted. But Andy's character did this all the time, and the others went along with it. That's how people get beaten to death for stealing a cigarette.

It was great the way this episode and the next one (or the one after) highlighted how different officers had different ways to be effective. Medavoy was feeling down because he couldn’t get a confession from this guy, then came back in a later episode and got an emotionally unstable guy to confess to a double homicide by being understanding. Such an amazing show.

The Epitome of a One Man Scene when Andy plays both "Good Cop, Bad Cop". It's a serious situation concerning a tragic event, yet a part of me does chuckle when Andy goes from one extreme to another and back in a matter of seconds and keeps "the interrogation" going smoothly. It's similar to when I hear "You never want to know how sausage is made! My immediate answer is Why not?, I'm still going to eat my links and or patties! No worries!

And you know, Medavoy was one of the most annoying characters in the show for me... his social awkwardness, his inappropriate comments. But there were some things that Medavoy could do that Andy and Bobby couldn't do. That was part of the great writing in the show.

In the “Bombs Away” episode Fancy asks if a suspect in custody may have more bombs planted in public. Sipowicz says he believed the suspect was planning something else, meaning yes he thinks there are more bombs out there. Fancy doesn’t say anything but gives a look. The look of do whatever necessary to get the suspect to give it up.
