An ordinary day just camping in the treehouse. Crazy Neighbour did a great job repairing and improving the treehouse with balconies, a new roof, and a staircase. It was like a trip to a cabin for the weekend. This is just the beginning, there is more work lined up to improve the treehouse. We are looking at using it as a studio for possibly a podcast or vlog, and of course as a place to camp, or for guests who are over to go camping in.

Steve and crazy neighbor are the kind of adults we all thought we were going to be when we grew up. I watch these videos and think "Why did I stop building tree houses and forts?" Now that I'm grown and have some money, I should be building treehouses that boy me would marvel at.

Love the idea of a fold down bunk, it would really open the place up. You could even look into doing double bunks on one side with a nice table on the other for meal prep and step 2 consumption. Crazy neighbor did amazing work, love the tree house Steve!

I do know a little bit of those migraines job pain, etc. a lot of times if your head hurts or your jaw hurts is a sign of your heart failing. I don’t know what happened to Jess but I’m thinking cardiac arrest or heart failure of some sort because they’re corroborates headaches

Big nails and bolts were put into the trees to hold the floor and weight. Yeah, I'd say the trees were hurt - hopefully they won't die later on.
I am not sure if those threes will survive, they completely covered large part of their root system, might not be enough water for them to stay healthy.
Man I don't know what it is, but there's this magical thing of turning a cold place (in this case a tree house in the middle of the woods) into a warm sleeping place that makes things so extremely cozy... Even watching it you just feel like "damn, I wish I could spend a night in there with that heater after a good meal"...

This channel quickly became one of my favourites. Accidentally found it looking for stealth camping tips (I'm a bikepacker with a protective dog which makes finding a remote place even more important, the dog will bark at any strange commotion) I found so much valuable information not only on finding a site, camoflageing, how to behave around the site not to raise suspicion but also how cooking and a sleeping setup can be minimalistic yet fun and functional. Made me realize you don't need fancy equipment to go on an adventure.
Also Steve's vibes are so wholesome and humble. I know many people have said it before but I still think Steven doesn't even fathom how important these videos are for some of us. I battle with depression and these videos for some reason I can't grasp tremendously help.

My bucket list item is getting a friend like Crazy Neighbor. I don't think I've ever had a friend who would do something for me like this or who I felt I could trust absolutely in a situation like rafting down a river. A friendship like that is a special and treasured thing.
It just occurred to me that crazy neighbor is just some dude who was living rough in the area that Steve made part of the family.

I've been binging your videos for the past month now, Steve, and I gotta say that your TH-cam channel is gold for me. It brings me back to an earlier TH-cam, one I'm nostalgic for because of the authenticity and simplicity. It's inspired me to go solo camping again, as well as make my own channel to share my own outdoor experiences. Thanks for bringing us with you on these trips, looking forward to the next one! That tree house is every kid’s dream. Most adults too 🙂. My aunt built a screened in sleeping porch off her bedroom. So she could sleep outdoors in nice weather, minus the mosquitoes.
Awesome treehouse, awesome Crazy Neighbor, and awesome Camping With Steve! Have you considered drop down tables, hinged to the walls? If you had several, on different walls, you could use them for lights, or charging laptops, or just a place to set your Step Two.
A few shelves and some hooks in the lower section would give you space for gear and such.

You have really made me want to camp again, was turned off by camping in "camping resorts" which feels more like camping in the parking lot of the woods. A tip for cots that are set up like the ones you have. Stand up the cot vertically with the final piece on the ground. Step on the side of the piece that needs to be attached. Use the leverage of the length of the cot to align the hole with the peg on the tensioning piece. I hope this makes sense.
A table that folds into the wall would be really handy. Also, some more shelves and hooks could go a long way. This treehouse is turning into quite the Hunker Down Haven.

I knew this was going to be the next video! As soon as Steve said he was heading home last week i just knew he wouldn't waste anytime and camp in the treehouse, and who could blame him, crazy neighbour did an amazing job!

About 28 years ago I built a tree house. 2 stories 2 rooms upstairs with a large overhang and one larger room downstairs with a storage room next to it. I had scored the 2x wood and rafters for free. I stopped using it after people started moving close to the area but it was great for about 10 years. I recently went back with my kids and checked out the area. By the time i had left i had insulated the upstairs with blue board then did the "master bedroom" with 4 inches of regular insulating then 4 inches of blue board it stayed nice and warm even on the coldest Alaska nights. It was a great little place. Anyways when we went there to look around it seems someone had put real windows in it and insulated and dry-walled the whole inside and set it up for electricity via a generator. Was pretty cool to see it i asked some of the people in the area about it and it seems no one really claims it teenagers seem to periodically find it and do work on it from time to time.
Also recently showed my kids another tree fort i built just outside of this town i used to work in. This one was never that great as I was only there in the summer so beyond sealing it up from rain and mosquitos and making it a comfortable place to sleep and store clothes i never did much to it. Lots of others started to come and do the same near there but a bit closer to the roads so fish and game would tear their stuff down, luckily mine was far enough back in the woods and over a hill that it was left alone by them. Was really cool to show my kids these places though. We still camp a lot every summer hit the road in the van its great. They both have said they want to hitch around the states like I used to so hopefully one day we all will.

When you said "you want that one?" to Crazy Neighbor regarding the slightly seasoned with soil mushroom (hadn't been 5 seconds yet so it's still probably good) and he simply said "No" back, it was the most beautiful and genuine moment that I've ever witnessed. Crazy Neighbor is like the grand tree wizard so if he says not to eat a mushroom then I will follow his wise words

If you put in the drop-down bunk beds on one wall, you'll have room on the other wall for a drop-down table and a small wood stove, easy.
And considering how that treehouse was built, it really should be a "no by-the-book" zone. Your "on the fly recipes" are perfect.

What a fine surprise the treehouse upgrade is to come home to! Kudos Crazy-Neighbor!! Steve, consider Reflectix (a/k/a: Bubble Foil) instead of tarpaper. It'll keep the bugs out and reflect heat/cold accordingly.
