  • This week I have been building more walls in the bus to frame out the space for my fridge, wardrobe, electrical bay and pantry.
Getting the walls straight and square turned out to be the hardest part of my build so far!

The struggle is real, for sure, as we all know nothing is square or level in a bus. Great job working through the frustration, and it’s looking good.

I used to work in a manufacturing home plant. We would pre-build the walls (laid down) on large level and square metal tables and make them square that way. Some walls were angled at the top for vaulted ceilings. Often the wood is warped and would have to be bent slightly to square them up. Of course, they were able to go off blue print measurements. Then after the vinyl flooring was installed (but before any carpet, tiling, ceiling/roof, exterior walls, etc. were installed) these interior walls were screwed to the floor.
Thanks for your videos and all the time you put in to shooting and editing them!

Despite the frustration you got there in the end. Well done. I decided to buy a truck with a pantech on the back because I didn’t want to deal with the curves on a coaster. Btw, I have leant heaps watching you build journey.

Thanks Lisa! I thought about buying a truck too before I bought the coaster but I really wanted full access to the cab from inside. I do envy the square walls in truck homes though!

Have you ever consulted with a boat builder as how they "square and plumb" an inside structure on a non square/ mobile outer structure ???
Love the video and efforts you put forth.

not sure yet. Hoping to have the bus finished top a liveable stage by the end of the year, as I'm not sure how long I will be able to continue living in my current place after that. Will hopefully have some time in the new year before we have to move so I can save a bit more money and also Pepper needs more training before she is ready for full time bus life. Probably go full time sometime in 2023

great job, just dont put the batteries on that platform. It should really be on the floor. The second u make an emergency stop those things move. That wood is not going to keep them in place. The higher the weight is the more force it generates so the platform is a bad idea.

I don't want to put the batteries on the floor in case I have a leak and water gets under there. The batteries will be strapped down so won't be going anywhere

@@AGirlADogandABus strapped down to what? If its to the bottom on those 3 cross members u created, hat flimsy pine will instantanly will get ripped off and pull out any screw instantly if the batteries get wet where it would be an issue your entire buss would be flooded so you will have bigger issues...

I will most likely be making up some straps from flat bar steel or aluminium that will be screwed into the shelf and/or the walls. Haven't quite finalised all that yet. They will not move. As for water damage, it would only take a small amount of water to pool under the batteries if the bus was not level and they were sitting directly on the floor. And even if the whole floor had the same amount of water, damage to some timber cabinets is not as bad as damage to $3000 worth of batteries, Not to mention the potential safety issues with water mixing with my electrical system. No thanks.
