Great tutorial. We just purchased ours and the manual did not explain any of what you did in detail!! I just learned a great deal! Thank you so much! Well done!
This video was very helpful in repairing our dishwasher. Our upper tray sprayer fell off during a cycle. We thought it must somehow connect to the back wall, but it didn't seem to fit securely. At video minute 9:42 there is a picture of the top tray with the sprayer moving out attached securely to the tray. Once we realized the sprayer doesn't connect to the back wall we were able to figure out how it attaches to the upper tray. We fixed it within minutes. Thank you!!!
I went from Bosch to Kitchenaid during a remodel 8 years ago, and I only switched to match my built-in fridge and other Kitchenaid appliances. I bought their top of the line model, and 8 years later I’ve had too many plastic parts break on the rack glides, including the adjustable height mechanism that I’ve replaced twice, and also the plastic wheels on the bottom rack. I just started reviewing dishwashers again, and I’m planning to go back to Bosch after watching this video. Who cares if the bar handle is not exactly the same as the fridge!
Roger Bravo thanks for the comment! I’ve wondered if I should have tried the kitchenaid since the top rack feels so much more substantial, however, I trust consumer reports and they LOVE Bosch! No issues over here 👍
I’ve had two top of the line Kitchen Aides. The first was new in my old home and the current one was installed when I moved. I’ve tried to fix and jerry rig the broken racks for several years. The top rack also cleans horribly despite all the usual trouble shooting. My new Bosch 800 is coming shortly and I cannot wait,,
@@tigeralumandmomx3868 well. Mykitchen aid did spotless cleaning in 40 minutes cycle. bosch takes 2 and half hours and stuff typically comes out more dirty then when putting it in
Also watch out for the heater element relays on the control board. My 7 year old Kitchenaid nearly caught on fire from it. The Bosch racks sure do feel cheap in comparison, but I know the Kitchenaid ones don’t last... neither do their pumps. Drain pump replaced 3 times in 7 years. I too had countless problems with my Kitchenaid, but electrical smoke got it kicked to the curb... and it’s a COMMON problem that Kitchenaid hasn’t recalled over. Running my first load in 800 series with CrystalDry now. Can’t wait to see how it does.
I'm about to order one, and your video saved me from reading the manual. Thank you. Now I can explain it to my wife and pretend like I'm the expert! We've been happy with our 12 yr old German made Bosch, and after a remodel, it's still running strong. It's going to a relative.
I'm looking at buying all new appliances and Bosch is what i'm looking at the most for brand name. You give in depth details about this appliance. I spend hours researching everything I buy. Nice to see a video that gives me so much info. Thanks
ThePost1968 thanks for the compliment! I also can get pretty involved with research :) I occasionally buy a Consumer Reports online monthly subscription for $7.95 (approximately) just for final comparisons to make sure I’m not over looking something.
@@Dad1987_ I did purchase Consumer Reports for one month to make sure I buy the best quality kitchen appliances that are reliable and and a good price. But I am disappointed because I live in Canada and many model numbers are not the same in Canada as they are in the US. I have no way to find that exact model number in Canada :(
Purchased a LG originally due to the suite sale the store was offering. The stove and Fridge are working great but I had problems with the dish washer (all within 2 weeks). The store took the LG back and I purchased a Bosch 800. It will come on Wednesday. I thank you for the tutorial and the information on the products to use. If the manual is as bad as the LG, I am ahead of the game already! Again, thank you.
I've owned my Bosch 100 model for 10+ yrs, no issues what so ever and looks like new like I just purchased it yesterday...I'm in the market for the 800 model
Thank you this is so helpful, we just bought this model and we read the manuel but your video helped. We finally figured out the rinse aid is essential to make the dishes dry at the end of the cycle.
Excellent and instructive video. I just installed the newest version of 500 Bosch dishwasher, and it does have the Speed 6o setting.I'm still learning all the features (especially the reset and drying tips), so please keep these tips coming.
Two family members own houses with open plans and their old noisy dishwashers were heard all over their houses. Both bought the Bosch 800 series and they both are very happy with them. I bought the 800 series with a 40dbA rating and cannot hear it run. It does an excellent cleaning job as well.
I bought the 300 24inch scoop handle 6 months ago. Super quiet. When I put in a new faucet I inadvertently turned off the dishwasher water supply and ran the machine. My old GE ran a waterless cycle after a water disruption and the heater melted the plastic interior (bulged but still useable). My Bausch simply stopped the operation after 3 minutes. Yes, if you leave the door closed after a load the water won’t evaporate and the dishes remain a bit damp, but the ideal situation is to open the door after a cycle; the machine water is so hot it evaporates very quickly. Personally, I think the $1k price difference between the 300 and the 800 is ridiculous. The cycles are overkill for the price. Love my Bausch.
BRAD that’s interesting. Glad to hear the cycle stopped on the Bosch when the water supply was off. We toy around with drying strategy and find if we crack the door the condensation drying isn’t as effective. Perhaps if you leave it open overnight the water will naturally evaporate. Does it leave the dishes free of water marks? Looks like Home Depot is selling the 300 series for $764 and 800 series for $944. $180 difference.
Thank you for the great review. I was concerned about the drying issue reviews I found online, but your video helped explain how to achieve successful drying with the 800 series.
I got a Series 4 - Independent (not incorporable, called Series 4,6 8 here in Europe). The best option that I have is the Door Open -natural dry. It adds 20-40 minutes to the washing cycle, depending on program, but at the end it will also auto open the door for @ 10 centimeters. I really really like that option, since everything is dry when i go to check the dishes in the morning. Good video.
We just ordered a Bosch 800 series and went back and forth between the 500 and 800. I liked that the 500 had the option to have the door pop open but thought it was odd that the 800 didn’t have that option. I saw people saying the drying was really good on the 800 so decided to take a chance on that model. Time will tell I guess. We are getting rid of our Samsung water wall model after dealing with horrible cleaning the entire time of owning it. Also the only cycle that worked was the 60min cycle. The rest didn’t function. The water inlet valve went bad. I replaced that myself. Then now the water wall pump died. It’s about 4 years old now. I looked up the most reliable brand and found most preferred Bosch so that’s what we went with. I’m tired of super high priced junk that breaks and/or under performs. I’m either going commercial appliances when we buy our new house or going to get an old set and completely refurbish the old school appliances that would run for 20 years.
Thank you for the great review. We just bought this same model dishwasher and absolutely love it. I did not know about the light starting to flash if it detects a leak; that is very awesome since we purchased this one to replace a 21 year old one that started leaking..not good for wood floors.
Gavin L The one like you have with the adjustable wings in either side. Went with black stainless too which is nice because Bosch makes their black stainless with the black being in the stainless instead of a coating like almost every manufacturer uses. They seem to really make a fantastic product.
Nice review. Thanks. Just bought 2 of these 800 models sight unseen. Had to order them. Have liked our old Bosch that lasted over 15 years without a hitch.
Mark g glad you’ve liked your old Bosch! We also bought ours sight unseen. You may already know, but it’s not uncommon for Bosch to give an Error message pertaining to the pump. We got a message on our 3rd or 4th load and realized it was due to the garbage disposal being too full. We now make sure the garbage disposal is empty and have never gotten one since. One other tip- you can modify the rinse aide setting to release more rinse aide. Factory setting is 5/6. The old models had a little dial that you could turn. The new models have a code process in the manual if you want to increase the amount of rinse aide to help with drying. Cheers!
Gavin L Thanks so much for the I formation! Looks like since I will have two it will be worthwhile to read the manual for once😉 My other dishwasher currently is a lg. Mid level, but not as quiet as I would like. Last night I ran it after some repairs and with nobody around noticed it was louder than I had thought. I think I will just load up my two old dishwashers to the flea market. 30 minutes probably can sell them for 50 bucks a head. Keep them out of a landfill for a few more years. I am more worried about the fact that in one of my install locations I have to make another 1/2 inch of space. Plan now is to knock out the tile under the dishwasher and hope I can squeeze it in there. My wife is a neat freak and she will not be happy with any mess I make. Poor thing🙃
I just bought one with the crystal dry and so far after two washes I love it. It is really quiet compared to my older Kitchenaid model which finally died after 14 years and numerous repairs for the soap dispenser and control board fuse.
I am so impressed by this thorough review that compares this product to other brands and models. I am in the market for a Bosch Benchmark or Bosch 800 Series and this helped a lot.
@@Dad1987_ I am actually trying to buy a Bosch Benchmark dishwasher today (either model SHE89PW75N or SHX89PW75N). Best Buy has a member pricing of $1,889.99, which is $210 off the regular price of $2,099.99. Unfortunately, it shows as "Sold Out." I chatted with Best Buy and was told "This is on back order from the manufacture directly." Thanks again!
Vic I just ordered the SHE model for the same price from a local appliance store. They said the same to me about delivery, they have no idea when it will ship. Apparently COVID has put a huge burden on the Bosch factory.
Thanks for this review. I just got my Bosch 2 weeks ago and I love it! Best dishwasher I ever had. I did have some questions about a few things, but they were answered here.
Thanks for the great video - I have the Bosch 300 series with front controls - I like the machine the drying is just fine except for the plastics, but that is fine - I expected that. I usually run the Auto cycle and the cleaning is excellent!
Great video. I just bought a Bisch 800. But I don't see a red light on the floor. Does that need to be turned on some how. Out 800 does have a light on the door. No handle.
Thank you. I paid $1,035.00 for this dishwasher and the manual doesn't mention anything about a red light flashing on the floor and many other features. The dishwasher quality and reliability are great but the manual sucks.
Good review. I have a Bosch 800 series dishwasher and I have a problem with the ball bearing glide on the upper basket. One of the wheels is gone. Can I replace wheel? Where do I get the wheel and is there a video on how to replace the wheel? Maybe I have to replace the entire assembly? And how do I do that?
We just got the 800. We are having trouble loading large glasses on the top rack. They are not secure and fall over unless it is is full and the glasses are packed in there. There are only 2 off us so we put a few things in at a time and the glasses always fall over. Any advise?
Fantastic review and introduction to this product. I purchased and installed one recently and learned more features just watching this. Bosch should sponsor you.
SO helpful! I noticed a lot of the things you mentioned in comparing the KitchenAid & Bosch at Best Buy. The KA just felt much sturdier, and the spray arm was metal. The Bosch shelves felt loose and cheap when pulled out, with a cheap feeling plastic spray arm. But the cons you discussed regarding the KA are quite noteworthy, and I think I prefer the top rack better with Bosch. For those reasons I'll probably go with Bosch--IF I can find one! Thanks so much for this informative review.
Bosch offers an option called Crystal Dry on the 800 series. Not all 800 models have this feature. Crystal Dry is only available within the 800 series; not available on 500, 300, 100, or Ascenta series.
Great video..... I too am having a drying issue. I'll try using Auto and for the option Sanitize. One thing that I'm noticing is the 60 minute cycle doesn't seem to be 60 minutes. Another thing I've noticed is when I put in an option, the light is red but it doesn't stay red, is that the way it works?
Fancy Nancy I think you need to hold down “start/reset” to reset your cycles. Then power on and off and select the cycle you want. When you select an option the light above the option should flash red until you hit “start” and then it should stay solid red until you close the door to begin the cycle. Speed 60 is really 1h 24mins. Not sure why they don’t call it speed 85? Let me know if this helps. If not, I can make you a short video on how to do this. I have found that it dries best on auto/sanitize/extra dry
Thanks . I learned a lot. Just had mine installed yesterday. One silly question. Do I remove the stickers that are on the inside of the door or leave them on? Thanks
Hi Gavin - We purchased our 800 Bosch after moving into our new home May 2019. I have been a die-hard KitchenAid customer for over 25 years having purchased everything from dishwashers to washer and dryer experiencing great performance and rare service calls. Somehow, I was convinced by the sales guy to try the Bosh. A few weeks into the purchase I am frustrated at the loading design layout and drying results. I purposefully, looked for videos that would help convince me why I shouldn't run screaming back to the appliance store to try and exchange the Bosch. Your video was very helpful and pointed out several features we didn't remember having (we had to purchase 5 major appliances at once and couldn't remember every feature). I noticed you didn't exactly lay out the silverware in the top rack according to Bosch specs by placing the tine portion in the open space and the handle inside the slot. I also didn't realize the Finish rinse product comes in different formulas and that you're not supposed to block the overflow vent when filling. All very helpful tips. I'm going to try loading and using another Finish formula. Here's hoping. Thanks for a great video. Marianne in AZ.
Hi Marianne, I'm glad you found the review helpful. A few other drying tips include putting the top rack at an angle so one side is on the highest setting and the other on the medium setting so the water runs off the dishes due to gravity. There is also a setting per the manual that changes the amount of rinse aid released. The factory setting is level 5 out 6 but can be increased to 6/6. The older machines have a little dial that can be adjusted but the newer machines require a particular sequence of the cycle buttons to get to this setting. Hope this helps!
I just had a Bosch dishwasher installed and just ran it for the first time. It has a horrible chemical smell coming from the interior. Is this normal when they are new?
probably. We fight with same issue for a year and half already. It is more fancy model. I paid $1900 for it. And is the biggest piece of crap I ever owned. Most of dishes are dirty, and a cycle is 2 and half hours long. Wha bosch claims to be quietest in class, it is twice louder then kitchen aid we had before
Nearly 2 months and about 15 loads of dishes and STILL have a horrible chemical smell that hits you in the face when opening the door after a cycle. I’ll never buy another Bosch
Thinking about getting one of these, 10 months in is it still performing well? Also, can you fit large cups, like the 32oz tumblers on the middle rack? Great video, thanks.
Kenneth Henry so far so good! No issues. Quiet and reliable. The middle rack is adjustable and can be lower to fit larger cups or bowls. We removed the silverware basket from the bottom rack to make more space for pots/pans. We do all the silverware on the 3rd rack. It’s amazing how much you can get up there!
Thank you for the great detailed review of the dishwasher. We just had this dishwasher installed yesterday. Was wondering do you know if this model (SHPM78Z55SS) has the time light feature (where the remain wash time is projected on the floor)? Thank you again! Have a great day!
The model in the video only has a red light that is projected when the machine is on. There is no way to see the remaining time. That would be a great feature!
Hi David, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. We went with the 800 because it is 2 DBA quieter than the 500 (42 v 44) and in some cases the 800 is rated at 39 DBA. You also get an extra wash cycle with the 800 series, ECO Wash. Finally the 500 is the only Bosch that does not have a "Speed 60" (60 minute wash cycle for recently and normally soiled dishes). Instead the 500 has a "Clean 30" wash. I wanted the standard Speed 60 cycle since it is featured on every other Bosch we looked at. The upper movable rack is VERY useful. We raise it to fit cutting boards or large serving platters on the bottom rack. Or lower it to fit tall cups in the top rack. Although it is not as smooth as some other brands it has been quite functional. The "Flexible 3 Rack" is also great. We keep the wings down and are able to put spatulas, egg cups, etc on it.
@@Dad1987_ Hi Gavin and thanks for the useful video. I have a Bosch DW I purchased precisely b/c of the Consumer Reports reviews and info. It does not have the 3rd rack but I did try one of those for a week before returning it and moving on to my Bosch. I returned the 3-rack model (another brand) b/c I found that the third rack (without the "wings" feature was basically useless for anything other than utensils and more importantly--in adding the 3rd rack, it seemed the mfg. had "stolen" the space from the bottom rack of the DW, making it darn near impossible to fit even a "normal" sized dinnerplate on that rack. Another reason I went to the Bosch was, in fact, the adjustable height upper rack system. It is my number 1 favorite feature of the DW and I can honestly say I've never missed the 3rd rack and really did not like it when I had it. My current Bosch has been going strong for many years and I wouldnt change a thing! (Model SHE66C02UC/48)
Thank you for your post. I’m very glad that I found you about this dishwasher. I will refer to it once I get mine going. Hopefully soon. New sub!👍 *I didn’t see your sub count go up from 308. Just an FYI.
I have just installed an 800 benchmark series dishwasher and I also notice moisture on the sides of the dishwasher. But what bothers me the most, is the little tiny pool of water on the little flower like emblem in the far back corner. It does not dry by evaporation, nor does it drain like the rest of the dishwasher ( there does not seem a way for the water to flow down to the drain). I have not used the sanitize option yet, but do you think that will dry up the sides and bottom of the dishwasher including my the flower area. My dishes, by the way, come out clean and dry.
We have had our Bosch 800 series dishwasher for about a month and we are puzzled by the manual's statement that you will know to add more rinse agent when the "Add Rinse Aid indicator light on the control panel illuminates." Cannot see such a light on the control panel. Is it something you have seen?
I have a 500 series 44dba Bosch I recently bought. I am very dissatisfied with the noise level of it at certain times. You can hear the water hit the door in a rhythmic pattern about every 2-3 seconds as the spray arm rotates around. It’s almost like listening to a ticking clock. I am assuming it should not be this loud and I have arranged to return it. Just wondering about the noise of the 42 dba machine. I expect to hear water drain and maybe fill but wondered if you hear water splashing and hitting the door during the wash cycle?
Debbie Chaney you’re right, we can hear the water filling and draining. But other than that it’s nearly silent! Sounds like you may just have a broken spray arm. Good luck!
Debbie I have the same issue as you with our new KitchenAid 44dba dishwasher. There are loud and constant water splashing and knocking sounds the entire wash. It’s distracting.
I have a new Bosch 500 SHPM65Z55M which is excellent at cleaning dishes, and very quiet, but I have never seen the Auto Air function open the door. I contacted Bosch, gave them the model info, and they sent a service tech out. He could not figure it out, then contacted Bosch, and was informed that there is no Auto Air on this. I am confused, as I thought all 500's had this feature. Have emailed Bosch again and awaiting a reply. I am also curious as to what actually opens the door when selected in the program.
Thanks for the video. I'm wondering if you have any thoughts about the Blomberg DWS51500, as a comparable dishwasher to the Bosch panel-ready 18-inch model? Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks!
MB Solomon Hello, I can’t speak directly to that model; however, I checked the consumer report rating for you and discovered all Blomberg Dishwashers receive a 50 rating which is VERY low. In general the ratings range from 36-88. You should be able to easily find a comparable look at a similar price with a rating of at least 75 or higher. I suggest you buy a 1 month consumer reports online subscription to see the breakdown of each make and model’s reviews. Consumer Reports recently releases their 2020 rankings as follows: Bosch Ascenta ($630 best buy award w 88 score), Bosch 300 ($770 w 85 score), Thermador ($1800 w 84 score), Bosch 100 ($675 w 84 score), Bosch Benchmark ($1700 w 84 score)... There’s a reason 7 out of the top 10 are Bosch or affiliated brands. Best of luck with the decisions. Be sure to buy the extended warranty if you go with Blomberg. Thanks for watching the review and don’t forget to hit the “like” button! 👍
I just checked, and YES! the time ticks down and displays remaining time. It would be nice if the light on the floor was a pie chart that filled or decreased to indicate estimated remaining time.
Hi,thanks for the very thorough review. I'm looking at purchasing either the Bosch SHXM78Z55N or the SHXM 88275N. Cant really see what the difference is between them except one 88275N is a couple of hundred dollars more.
I think the main difference is the DBA. Once you get to 42 or under the difference is not very noticeable. You Probably won’t hear a difference between 40 and 42 dba.
close to buying this 800 series, but there are several times you mention the 300 series is better rated. money isn't the decider, but dbA and also the 3rd rack is a welcome feature and better drying is a good thing. would you steer me to the 300 in this case?
Tom Lakovic I’m happy with the 800. We spent a bit more for the pocket handle and a few features we found important. If you want bang for buck you should go 300 because you’re getting the Bosch name, reliability, and a majority of the features at a lower price point. Consumer Reports loves the 300 for this reason. They also love the entry model because it’s leaps beyond what you can get for an entry model elsewhere. It sounds like you might prefer the 800 for the same reasons we do!
@@Dad1987_ Hey, thanks for the reply. I should have added that we are going with the panel ready integrated look. i assume that makes me responsible for my own handle solution... it seems that 300 & 800 both come panel ready. what if anything am i giving up by going 300 vs 800?
This is the best review I’ve seen on the Bosche 800 Series Dishwasher. Why did you choose the pocket handle over the external handle? Which is the most popular?
Because of a very stupid contractor, the floor was built up after the dishwasher was installed. We did not discover the issue until the shem78z55n Bosch was delivered and thus returned. I picked that one because I was sold on the Crystal Dry feature. I use a lot of plastic that is never dry in my current one. I was planning on remodeling so that I can get that feature (ADA will fit but does not have that feature), but it sounds like it might not be worth it from your review. How well does it dry without the Crystal Dry....is it much worse?
This dishwasher was great for two years, but I came to find out that the Crystal Dry system has a faulty part that breaks and causes leaks. It is the threaded nut located inside the cabinet near the back of the dishwasher that holds the Zeolite crystal container to the bottom of the unit. It cracks, allowing water to seep into the drying unit underneath. My vent fan is now full of water and the entire drying system will have to be replaced before I can operate the dishwasher again.
I just bought the Bosch 800 Super Silent (40dba) model. It worked right after the people installed it. Two days later, I can't get it to start. I even tried the hard re-set (turned off the circuit breaker for 10 minutes), and it still won't start. According to Google search, this seems to be a common problem. If anybody has any suggestions, please let me know.
micheal49 are you getting an error code? We had an error 2 days after install and realized our garbage disposal was too full and it was blocking the pump. Now we always run the garbage disposal at least 1 a day or before we run the dishes
Thank you so much! I can understand this Bosch dishwasher better. I do have the 800 and my main problem is drying it, now i need to buy the Finish detergent. 😁
Yes give it a try! Do you use the Sanitize and Extra Dry options? We usually let ours sit closed for some time after the cycle finishes to let condensation drying / interior heat continue to extract water from the dishes.
I really wish they had a chopper option, the filter is a gross idea to me. Also wish they had the 800 and up had the auto open function that the 500 does. It is really a great feature.
Question: We just got the 800 series and gave it a test run. My question what do you do if you open the dishwasher half way through the wash or dry cycle? Do you just close the door again or do you need to hit the start button before closing the door? Does it pick up where it left off in the cycle before you opened the door.
the 500 series has the ball bearing upper rack, the speed 60, and the delicate cycle. The main differences between the 500 and 800 that I noticed in my research was the 800 had the "crystaldry" feature, the eco cycle (which I would never use), the WiFI (really?? why?). Not having a foreseeable need for those particular features, I saved $400 and went with the 500.....so far, I love it
@@chrisparsons3141 overall the drying is great. When the door pops open, everything but the plastic stuff....and items that have a concave/cup like surface facing up....is dry. If it sits for a couple hours before you get a chance to empty it (we usually run it just before bed), even the most of the plastic is dry
I have the 800, and after 6 months of use I must say that I am disappointed with the sturdiness of the main rack. Once loaded, when I pull or push the main rack it twist and the wheels fall off the rails.
@@jimmccall2689 no it’s the bottom rack who’s giving us troubles, and it’s still not fix. So we now avoid to load it completely otherwise one side or the other fall inside the metal shoulder where the wheels are suppose to run. My entire family hate this dishwasher because of this problem.
What is the water hardness level at your place. My old bosch dishwasher had water softener where I could add salt into but this one does not. Can the dishwasher get damaged as my town has very hard water.
We just bought one. works great HOWEVER a horrible chemical tar-like smell was coming from it the first load we ran enough that we all came running out into the kitchen asking what the awful smell was,....thought it was burning up! We've now used it three times, still has the odor but to a lesser degree where we don't smell it in the kitchen but, after we open the door on it when the cycle is done. I just read it is Bitumen. Literally asphalt! It's for the insulation purpose to keep the machine so quiet. Do you smell it in yours? I've read some having no smell, other's slightly and yet several owner's reporting it is noxious all the time. The article's all said that it is in every dishwasher now and more of it if you have stainless interior's?! Just wanted to know from you yourself and or anyone else with this Bosch? Thank you.
I have the 800 series. I am having issues starting. I open the door and I see buttons kit fur cycles. I want different cycles . So I hold down the start button for 3 seconds to reset and it flashes “01” . I then choose my cycles and hit start . Close the door and solid red light shows on floor . It sounds like it is turning on. Stays on for a Few minutes and light goes off and it beeps. What ami doing wrong?
Sandy Griffith when you hold down the reset button and get a “01” that is code for drain only. It’s useful when you stop mid cycle and want to drain the water or are testing something. What you need to do is power off and on when you have the “01” flash. You have put the machine into a reset mode but need to power off and on to complete. Moving forward you shouldn’t have to do this, just select your cycle.
I love my current 800 series bosche but its old now and we're looking at replacing. there are many 800 series that all look the same? I've tried googling the differences and comparing but they all look the same? What are the actual differences?? Shockingly, great video. Already went to my cabinent to see what products im using! just need to upgrade to turbo rinse aid! LOL
Glad you liked it. I made it for a family member and now it’s helped nearly 200k people. Crazy how TH-cam works... I know model differences have different handles (pocket or bar) as well as top control or front control. You may also find different 3 racks and an option for the machine to pop the door open at the end of the cycle to help with drying. Good luck.
Thanks for this video. I currently own a Bosch Ascenta 50dba dishwasher that I’ve had for almost 10 years. I’ve loved it but it’s white and I got a new refrigerator, stove and over the range microwave that are stainless steel Maytag appliances last year. I’ve been trying to decide on whether I’m gonna buy a new stainless steel Bosch with the third rack even though it won’t match my other appliances or if I’m gonna buy a new Maytag dishwasher with the third rack and have all matching appliances. It’s a tough decision for me. I like the third rack on the Bosch much more than the Maytag. I also like that Bosch has the removable, easy to clean filter. I don’t know at this point which one I’m gonna buy.
Hi Traci, in general you'd want to keep the stainless steel look throughout the kitchen but shouldn't feel an obligation to keep the same brand. Most people will never notice and it isn't usually a factor if you plan on reselling your home. Don't forget to hit "like"!
Glad it helped!
@@briantii let me know how your new Bosch performs. I’m still waiting for mine. Ordered in September, but it was on back order until Nov.
This is, hands down, the best Bosch diswasher review I’ve seen. Thank you!
I appreciate it!
Excellent, thank you. We bought an 800 series last night from Lowe's and this was a factor in our decision making process. Thanks again!
Lunker Dunker Baits thank you for the comment and glad to know this helped confirm your decision!
$180 difference.

... [12 minutes later]...
Well done Gavin. Well done.
andrew wachholz thank you for the feedback! It was intended to be private video for a family member but has been helpful for many! Cheers
Thank you for the great review. I was concerned about the drying issue reviews I found online, but your video helped explain how to achieve successful drying with the 800 series.
Leah DiPascal glad it helped! Don’t forget to hit “like” 👍
I got a Series 4 - Independent (not incorporable, called Series 4,6 8 here in Europe).
Thank you for this video. I could find no manual for the Silence Plus 84 dBa when I moved into my new house. Thanks to you I can finally run a load!
This is the most thorough review I've seen. Thank you!

Thank you for the great review. We just bought this same model dishwasher and absolutely love it. I did not know about the light starting to flash if it detects a leak; that is very awesome since we purchased this one to replace a 21 year old one that started leaking..not good for wood floors.
How much did it cost?
Super informative. My 800 will be delivered/installed tomorrow and your tips are things I wouldn’t have thought about. Thank you!
Matthew Fiermonti good luck with the delivery. Hope you love it! What kind of third rack did you get? Flexible, standard, or my way?
Gavin L The one like you have with the adjustable wings in either side. Went with black stainless too which is nice because Bosch makes their black stainless with the black being in the stainless instead of a coating like almost every manufacturer uses. They seem to really make a fantastic product.
Matthew Fiermonti I didn’t know about the way they make their black stainless steel. Thanks for sharing that tip!
Awesome review! So very thorough and informative! Thanks for covering the types of detergent to use and tips and tricks for better drying!
Well done. Thank you for going through all the features of this dishwasher and the helpful tips.
Looks like since I will have two it will be worthwhile to read the manual for once😉
My other dishwasher currently is a lg.
I leave the door ajar on mine after it's finished and everything comes out dry and spotless!
I am so impressed by this thorough review that compares this product to other brands and models. I am in the market for a Bosch Benchmark or Bosch 800 Series and this helped a lot.
Glad it was helpful! Let us all know what product you end up purchasing :)

Thanks for the great video - I have the Bosch 300 series with front controls - I like the machine the drying is just fine except for the plastics, but that is fine - I expected that. I usually run the Auto cycle and the cleaning is excellent!
Great explanation. In the middle. Do you explain how to set up the delicate cycle? I got glass on left but not delicate on right.
I agree...they could have added a trouble shooting section and more details about the settings and the options.
Good review. I have a Bosch 800 series dishwasher and I have a problem with the ball bearing glide on the upper basket. One of the wheels is gone. Can I replace wheel? Hahah. Thank you
8:45 I have an 800-series and it will not run a "SANITIZE" mode in the "SPEED 60" cycle.
You can select the EXTRA DRY option with the SPEED 60 cycle.
Yea, he lost a little credibility when he said that in the video.
Thank you for the video. All the info that was given was very helpful for future owners of a Bosch 800.
Only wanted to mention that the 800 series now has different options. They have added Crystal Dry which is now their recommended dry cycle.
do you still love it? any complaints?
Thank you so much for your very helpful and thorough review!
Fantastic, thorough review. THANK YOU! I’m shopping now and was almost sold on the bottle washers too. Bosch it is!
Thanks
Great information about this diswasher! I just got one so I'm still learning.
I did same mistake. getting into bosch was most expensive mistake I ever did. Never happy with it
I just had a Bosch dishwasher installed and just ran it for the first time.

Comprehensive review, thanks. Especially the CR references.
Very informative and well done review, thanks! So why the 800 series over the 500? And is the movable rack actually useful?

Just installed Bosch 800, ran first load. It's louder than entry-level plastic tub variety.
Awesome, informative video. Thanks for reviewing it in great detail. Having this dishwasher installed in a week.
Also, do I need to add the jet dry to each cycle? My other dishwasher had a tank to fill then when low you only needed to add more jet dry.
Thanks so much I just bought a 300 series yesterday I get it next week sometime installed.
300 is supposed to be a great value.
Janet Olsen it will be obvious when it is time to add more rinse agent. The black screen will read “add rinse”. Hope this helps
I really appreciate your detailed description. Good Job 👍
while it's running, if you open it up, will you be able to see the remaining time on the indicator in the middle of the top bar?
Quick question. Might anyone know if the 3rd (top) rack is easily removable?
It is removable. Slide it out, then upward over the wheel's. Goes back in the opposite way, just read it in my manual :)
What about the 100 Series???
Thank you!
We just bought the 800 series dishwasher. Delivery end of Jan . 2021
Having an 800 delivered in 2 days. With the controls being on top, is there any way to pause it mid-cycle? And thanks so much for this review!

You make videos for a living and you haven’t hired this guy? Up your game !!!
Oh gosh--that is a new one. Do you still have the unit? I am now contemplating on the Kitchen Aid
Curious, how did this problem resolve?
When you push any of the dry cycle should the light stay on?
Thank you so much! I can understand this Bosch dishwasher better. I do have the 800 and my main problem is drying it, now i need to buy the Finish detergent. 😁
Yes give it a try! Do you use the Sanitize and Extra Dry options? We usually let ours sit closed for some time after the cycle finishes to let condensation drying / interior heat continue to extract water from the dishes.
A wonderful review. So informative and detailed and explained lots of features!
I really wish they had a chopper option, the filter is a gross idea to me. Also wish they had the 800 and up had the auto open function that the 500 does. It is really a great feature.
The filter is really the quietest and most efficient and energy efficient way of processing the water.
Question:
We just got the 800 series and gave it a test run. My question what do you do if you open the dishwasher half way through the wash or dry cycle? Do you just close the door again or do you need to hit the start button before closing the door? Does it pick up where it left off in the cycle before you opened the door.
That’s happens to us all the time! It’s so quiet, especially between actions. Press start and close it. It will resume where it left off.
the 500 series has the ball bearing upper rack, the speed 60, and the delicate cycle. The main differences between the 500 and 800 that I noticed in my research was the 800 had the "crystaldry" feature, the eco cycle (which I would never use), the WiFI (really?? why?). Not having a foreseeable need for those particular features, I saved $400 and went with the 500.....so far, I love it
You still like that 500 Garth?
@@chrisparsons3141 I do. It is very quiet, and get the dishes nice and clean.
@@garthvanguilder9588 thanks. How do you find the drying?
@@chrisparsons3141 overall the drying is great. When the door pops open, everything but the plastic stuff....and items that have a concave/cup like surface facing up....is dry. If it sits for a couple hours before you get a chance to empty it (we usually run it just before bed), even the most of the plastic is dry
@@garthvanguilder9588 I appreciate the replies Garth. Thanks.
I have the 800, and after 6 months of use I must say that I am disappointed with the sturdiness of the main rack. Once loaded, when I pull or push the main rack it twist and the wheels fall off the rails.
Are you talking about the upper rack? How did you fix it?
Thank you.
We have NO smell. This sounds like either a problem with install or a problem with the machine. Push for a replacement.
Good luck.
@@Dad1987_ thanks so much. bought it. one question we can't figure out. is htere a way to stop the "beep" when you close it that you know of??
Cats are going to be mesmerized by that red light. Charles
