The Volvo B11R is a 10.8-litre engined coach chassis available as both two- and tri-axle from Volvo since 2011. The B11R is the standard chassis for both the 9700 and 9900 coaches. It is also available in the Indian market and is sold by Volvo under the 9400 brand with a length of 14.5 metres
Mangalore officially known as Mangaluru, is a major port city of the Indian state of Karnataka. Mangalore is also included in the Smart Cities Mission list and is among the 100 smart cities to be developed in India. The city has an average elevation of 22 m (72 ft) above mean sea level. Mangalore has a tropical monsoon climate and is under the influence of the southwest monsoon. In 2017, Mangalore was ranked the 48th best city to live in the world by a US survey, and the only Indian city in the top 50.
Bus services from Mangalore are operated by the Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators' Association (DKBOA) and Canara Bus Operators Association (CBOA). Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) also runs bus services in the city. Two distinct sets of routes for the buses exist; city routes are covered by city buses while intercity routes are covered by service and express buses. KSRTC also operates long-distance bus services that connect Mangalore with other parts of the state.[250] KSRTC JnNurm green city buses operate within the city limits.

Public buses run by BEST cover almost all parts of the metropolis, as well as parts of Navi Mumbai, Mira-Bhayandar and Thane. BEST buses are red in colour, based originally on the Routemaster buses of London. Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC, also known as ST) buses provide intercity transport connecting Mumbai with other towns and cities of Maharashtra and nearby states. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) and Thane Municipal Transport (TMT) also operate their buses in Mumbai, connecting various nodes of Navi Mumbai and Thane to parts of Mumbai.
The Mumbai Darshan is a tourist bus service which explores numerous tourist attractions in Mumbai.
When I studied at St Aloysius College Mangalore, I stayed in my aunt’s place in Surathkal college campus. Travelled many times between 1986-89 from Suratkal to Borivili on this Ankola-Hubli route by Vishal, Ideal, Mahabaleshwara, Canara Pinto travels from Surathkal college KREC now NITK on NH-17. College guest house was the pick-up point. All Ashok Leyland buses back then. No Volvo buses. Ankola to Hubli road is very scenic. I have seen peacocks, wild elephants, deer, bison on my travel.
If you take the early morning bus, you pass this stretch from noon thru 7 pm. It’s total fun.

Used to travel by Canara Pinto regularly Mumbai to Mangalore when I was 10 years old back in the early 90s ! Now im 40 ! Good to see this company still in business ! The other one was Vishal travels, Ideal, Southern travels, Southern tourist ! Golden days !

Good video . Difficult for drivers to judge due to monsoon/night/headlights of on coming vehicles. Hats off to them
Ver nice Vlog and I enjoyed watching the roads and traffic during monsoon. Very tough job of a bus driver, who is continuously driving in those tough conditions. Patience is a must during this journey...I saw a couple of occasions, the driver losing his cool du to the distractions and phone calls of the Cleaner. Hats off to those drivers who endure these tough conditions to carry passengers to reach their destinations.

This is 2022 - A Driver is now called an "Operator" and the Cleaner is called an "Assistant" 🙂.... and yes, Ashok Leylands were the kings of the road back then in the 70's. My dad had 4 Ashok Leyland trucks - Mangalore to Mumbai were the most trips. I still have the number plates of those trucks with me as memories for last 4 decades, We have moved to U.S since then 🙂

The driver is very careless chap, he talks on the phone, has tea, all while steering with one hand, and also talking all the while and even reading a letter. He should be reprimanded and reported.
Actually he (Nagesh) is one of the most experienced driver on Mumbai Mangalore route,ofcourse he can do better.
@@tremerindsouza he maybe a very good driver but when one has a bus load of passengers, his only duty is to drive, and not get distracted by such trivial functions. This shows overconfidence and that is not good.
