My GF back then wore this EdT and it was like a magic spell to me. That was over 40 years ago, but it still is the standard that I compare to. Never surpassed.
I love Mitsouko! The vintage EDP is the best. The reformulated version is a shell of what it once was. This was my mom's signature scent, and everytime I smell it, I think of her.
Ahh Mitsouko and L’herue Bleue. How I tried and tried to love you, but alas, you are not the Guerlains for me. I finally bought vintage minis of you both and put you in my display cabinet to honor you.
Thank you for the great review of Mitsouko, which has always been a mystery to me. I like that you explain it in clear, understandable terms. I keep thinking I should like it, but I don't. And I have never smelled the famous peach note it is supposed to have. As I said, a mystery.
I found this scent very challenging. I love oakmoss generally, however, Mitsouko is beyond comfortable. I want to give it away to someone who will appreciate its aggressiveness.
I love Mitsouko edp and parfum, but I’ve never tried the edt. Imo this is one of the best fragrances ever made, that said, I only wear it during very cool weather. I do not like it in any other weather bc it gets too powdery and smells like L’Heure Bleue...which I only wear when it’s warm out. I know that sounds weird, but it’s true. I think TF Bitter Peach is somewhat similar to Mitsouko, but a more modern take on it...which I love as well.
Same for me. I had to wear it multiple times, in different weather, but when it’s beauty came through, it floored me! It’s stunning and I feel like it’s completely unisex, and would smell fabulous on a man. On a side note, while I was trying to figure it out, I had my husband wear it and it was great on him.
Testing on skin...of course. 😊 Unless it's a first sniff video, all perfumes I talk about are tested several times on skin. I appreciate it for what it is but isn't one I'd wear for myself.
Just for this in depth review of Mitsouko ,the most misterious and shocking fragance I've ever tried ...a masterpiece but incomprehensible for me, anyway just for your honest review I'm subscribing your awesome channel which looks like and interesting place to explore fragances.
I know what you mean! I originally picked up the edt simply for reference (and now very glad I did with prices skyrocketting), and it was challenging to say the least! But I certainly grew to love it over time as a work of art. It's a "particular feeling" fragrance for me. Like when I want to give off a nostalgic vibe/look. Ditto with Dunhill's original For Men from 1934. Always great to have a scent that projects an air of uber maturity though, just in case.
I am pretty new to the world of fragrance and I bought a bottle of Mitsouko and find VERY challenging and hard to wear ...I pull it out every now and then to see if my nose has changed, but it has not yet
I'm so glad you reviewed this fragrance because I've been hemming and hawing over this fragrance for a few years... 😅 Although I too feel it will be challenging for me, I still do want to try it. @Loretta Bridges, I would love to try this fragrance since you mentioned wanting to give it away... 😁
You should try the edp. The Oak moss is smoother and richer. In the edt the Oak moss shouts over the peach and floral drowning them out but in the edp it enfolds them, allowing them to peek out throughout the wearing, more and more so the further into the dry down you go. It's a strong fragrance but it arrives in wafts, it doesn't barge through the door announcing it's arrival in the same way the edt does. I do sometimes wear the edt but I prefer the mysterious melancholy of the edp.
I bought a decant of the EDT but it was so weak smelling. I was expecting something that would be more more. I wonder if my skin eats it up. I see that you've sniffed it on a test strip and I will try that next.
I have a few «celeb frags» now but i cant wait to Get this (a sample is on its way) to Get to experience what charlie Chaplin most likely smelled like from 1919 and onwards since this is suposed to have been his signature scent Even dronning his ties in it!
Hi! Yes I sprayed this on a paper in th Paris XL. For me the same feeling...not my thing...it was laying in the kitchen and everytime I smelled it when passing, I thought 'now'...
Would I like either of this if the Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium extreme makes me sick? I was sold on paper for that one for the vanilla, musk, and light flowers but it comes together in an absolute disgusting and loud scent. I don't like florals or matronly churchy scents. I took the quiz on the company website and they recommended this perfume.
@HiNinqi Hmm...Black Opium Extreme and Mitsouko are so very different imo. It would be very difficult to say whether you'd like Mitsouko without testing on your skin. 🙂
I have this and it's not overwhelming at all. On the contrary, it's very faint, very poor performance, I oversprayed, I put it even on my scarf and my friend said: you're not wearing perfume today? Very disappointing. It's an original bottle, I have no doubt.
Did she spray it from a bottle or a sample? If it was a sample I have heard that samples are stronger than the actual perfume bottle because some companies are dishonest and they do it to get people to buy the perfume. I can kind of say it is true because I was duped into buying Chanel No 5. I had a sample and it was strong and lasting but when I purchased it the scent in the bottle did not last as long as the sample.
I don't think I will invest in a range of perfumes that disappointed me once. Same with Chanel no 5 EDT from 2014, very weak performance. I noticed it's way better to invest in vintage formulation ♥️
@@parfecto7716 I have both, vintage (2 different bottles/batches) and the new one. Believe me: the "new" Mitsouko is one of the best reformulations on the market.
Your personality wouldn't fit this scent..in fact, the scent would wear you and boss you around haha It's simply not for the faint of heart, overly compliant or crowd pleasers! This is ultra boss lady stuff!

That’s what I do with many vintage fragrances- I recently bought a vintage Red Door 😀
LB is another one I've been struggling with as well. Just not my cuppa at all ☕
I love how simple and practical is your channel. You are such a lovely lady.
😊

My pleasure! 😊
Mitsouko is a classic! It’s a love for me!
I found this scent very challenging. I love oakmoss generally, however, Mitsouko is beyond comfortable. I want to give it away to someone who will appreciate its aggressiveness.
I would be happy to take it off your hands...I love Mitsouko!
I have a tester of the edt and a bottle of the edp is on the way. I am head over heals in love. Deep stuff.

Ohh that's interesting! I'll try to test them side by side and see how that goes 😊
Love your description of Mitsouko ! This is pretty close of how I feel about it 😉
Have you tried it on skin? It took me awhile to understand and appreciate Mitsouko. Complex and heavy for sure. I find it unisex and mesmerizing.

Ahh I didn't realize prices were raising for this one :(

I hear ya! 😊
What do you mean hard to wear

Will do! 😊
I really love it only in spring and early summer in winter doesn’t seem to be good on me…kind of strange ……. But true 😍
Hello. Congratulations on the review! Do you think that in Mitsouko the oak moss note is so prominent that it hides the other notes? Thanks.

Such a great, interesting description. It sounds awful to me 😂
😆😆😆
A wonderful perfume! Unique!
Awesome review! ❤❤❤
Hi! Yes I sprayed this on a paper in th Paris XL. For me the same feeling...not my thing...it was laying in the kitchen and everytime I smelled it when passing, I thought 'now'...
There are several older fragrances that I just don't have the comfort level to wear.
Same here 😆

I totally agree with you.
This was the Scent of Romy Schneider

Maybe you should try Eau de Parfum?

Did I hear right, you called yourself a tomboy??
I have watched your channel many times, tomboy is NOT the vibe I get
I know this perfum its a heavy headache perfum
Lol yes possibly!

This is ultra boss lady stuff!
It was a favorite fragrance of Charlie Chaplin, Ingrid Bergman, Jean Harlow, Sergei Diaghilev, and Anais Nin.
Oh wow, had no idea :D
