This is an obvious scam with the culprits disappearing like the rats they are. What's worse is that by using 3rd party contractors customers won't know what's really going on.
How are these companies not being charged with grand theft? Surely the items from a whole household total to be quite a bit of money. Both companies should get in big trouble.
@@lexjohnson0803 typical legal scams. They rely on withholding important information from you, or straight up lying and using deception. Then they play plausible deniability card. This is the reason why America is falling apart. Everyone is trying to scam each other and pull a fast on on each other. Trust is falling apart in society.
That’s a great policy but it’s not always possible if your high value, irreplaceable items aren’t small enough to fit and be carried with you. For example, I couldn’t move my mama’s pride and joy grand piano in my car. Insurance would pay to replace it in theory but it was a custom made piano she used for church performances and what she played when recording a song with her favorite gospel singer. I’ve been in the military and moving every 2-4 years as a result for over 25 years now; military families know more about moving than anyone on the planet and sadly we know our household goods are going to be moved by the lowest bid company. Even still, I’ve never had my entire 25,000 LB shipment disappear, much less due to criminal activity. That’s next level and not at the forefront of anyone’s mind when hiring movers.
No one should do this anyways. There's legit companies out there scamming people everyday from UPS, fed ex for example. They opened my mail at UPS and they told me they don't know who it was. So I lost my merchandise. It was about 399 dollars. They got away with it.
People do your homework and don't trust moving companies. My wife and I moved from Chicago to Tampa in 2013 we hired laborers to pack the truck and we drove our own truck to Tampa and hired laborers to unload the truck in Tampa. We had no problems and saved a lot of money.
Hire college students to help load and unload. They’re still young and strong for these type of jobs plus they need the extra $! Just post on their school job board on campus, I’m sure you’ll get a few calls.
While it is cheaper you are fucked if these laborers damage your furniture or property. Smarter to hire movers from a known vanline to load your rental. I was going to go that route into some pods and have em transported but this summer was nuts moving from CA and all rental trucks and pods were booked out. I just went with United vanlines as they were able to get my stuff picked up on the day I needed.
You obviously did not hear the fact that they're not a moving company. They act like it and sub contact out to actual moving companies, only to move your shit to storage units they fail to pay rent on.
That’s why at our age, it was still more cost effective to rent our own moving truck, hire 3 people to load the furniture, paid a friend his airline ticket to fly back so he could drive the moving truck as we followed with our 2 vehicles. Then hired 3 people to unload once we arrived at our destination. It took 1.5 days (we stopped to rest over night) but at least ALL of our items got to our destination at the same time we arrived. We read too many horror stories about moving companies! Please be careful and aware of what’s going on.
Will be relocating out of state next year and was wondering how we could pull a move off without going the route of a company. Thank you for posting because it never registered to add people to help out.
Agreed! We just moved from Florida to Wisconsin and we just got a uhaul and trailer for one of the vehicles. Flew my brother out and he helped me load the truck and we drove it up ourselves! Nobody’s going to treat your things the way you want them treated besides you!
This is why I don’t trust anyone. My family and I did our own moving in the past. The last thing I would ever do is hire a moving company but I would do extensive research on the company first.
You are privileged to have a family to help you out but most people don't have families and people who take advantage of other people should be made an example of.
I've moved family halfway across the country in the biggest truck you can rent. Yeah it sucks being stuck in traffic and staying at hotels. But you get to see the country side and stop at some great diners, and restaurants.
I had this company screw me as well last year and am trying to contact whatever lawyers are involved, not so much to help me but to use my story and paperwork from gold standard to help their fight. They “ lost “ my tv and charged me about 1500 extra dollar for various fees not on the contract and when my stuff arrived a month later there was only 1 guy unloading and he was screaming at me. I hope all these people that lost more than me get justice.
Tommy Hartman google it and you will find lawsuits. Contact those attorneys. Or hire one yourself, dont forget to write a complaint as well (not a yelp one , but the one that the state you live in ) hope you get that stuff sort it out
Gold standard ripped me off. They took my money and I have been trying to get a refund but they keep telling me that there is an accounting error. I will be making a criminal complaint.
I feel for these people who got their personal belongings lost. My friend also got screwed by a moving company. They came and charge him more than held his things at the drop off storage until he paid more. He’s sick and has cancer and only had two years to live so he had to move closer to his kids. Karma will get them! Heartless people!
I know what it feels like to have your belongings and family heirlooms taken and trashed. It is the most gut wrenching heartache that never heals. Local law enforcement and the FBI could pursue charges for wire fraud, fraud, theft and more charges if they really wanted to. It's BS that they keep saying it's civil which is a separate matter.💔
This happened to my dad in Connecticut the moving company took all my dads sports memorabilia he had boxes of cards and other Knick knacks horrible and sad. The company didn’t do anything about it they even took the new washer dryer. They need to have a law to hold these thief’s accountable.
I feel your pain, while moving to New York from Florida, the moving company basically held my belongings hostage until I paid them more money. All of these scammers should be in jail.
Im sorry that happened to you! Same here!! It is absolutely horrific!! Im a single person and moved from Tx to CA - furniture, kitchenware- garage items- stolen.
Whoever needs to hear this - ULine was great. I moved from NY to Florida using their cubes. They drop the cubes off to you, you pack them up and padlock them (with your own locks), then they pick them up and drive them to your new home. Very cost efficient. Just remember to take as many photos as possible, both in and outside of the moving cube(s) and track your shipment!
DA should put a lock on this company's financials and distribute the money to the victims. But them our government doesn't have a very good record of protecting its citizens from foreign and domestic predators.
These days you've GOT to research ANY company you deal with for ANYTHING. I won't even order something on line until I research the company. Sadly, it's become a life style . Even people you meet.....we are in strange times for sure. Basic human values are at an all time low.
All that would happen is that the company would keep the trackers. They'd be in a box in a warehouse and not seen again until the thieves open the box, sell the stuff, and throw them away. They don't care if they're tracked... obviously there are no consequences.
where is this company located? my grandmother hired some movers with the same name and lost a ton of our expensive items. please contact me asap, we have been trying to get ahold of these people for months now and we are currently building a case. please help us. my grandmother is sad. As someone that’s repeatedly “lost everything” over and over and over again through homelessness, toxic relationships, escaping an abusive home, living in shelters, being stolen from, etc. etc. I can’t explain how traumatic it is. And you talk about it and people’s response is “it’s just stuff”. Tell that to the people that lose their livelihoods in house fires. All these years later and I still think about the things I’ll never get back. The gifts and letters from childhood friends, my feather collection I amassed from every place I ever lived, my art work, my sculptures, my jewelry, my stuffed animals, furniture, things I worked and saved up for, gaming systems. All gone. They aren’t just “material things” that are being stolen. They’re relics, physical manifestations of people’s memories. There’s a reason many religions, beliefs, and cultures around the world have a special place for thieves.
How are the police saying this is a civil matter when these two companies aren't even attempting to deliver, they pick up and store your stuff and rummage thru it. That's theft!!!! If you pick up someone's wallet and don't immediately try to return it that's theft. There's no difference except the scale of theft. This is felony level. Common cops do your damn jobs once the right way. Learn your damn laws you're paid to enforce.
@@kanank13 It pains me to say it... but you're right. Too many blindly lavish praise and approval on the police... even making excuses when they "stand down" and watch rioters, looters, and arsonists run wild. "I was only following orders" is NOT an excuse. Way too many police departments are being funded with meager return for your dollar.
I’ve lost things that way. I even had a note inside my luggage that said my bags were checked. Some PS4 games were gone and of course nobody knows a thing. They never compensated me.
I'm wondering if any of these people had insurance. Most moving companies have $5000 initially and a person can purchase more. If so, file a claim. It's interstate theft, so I believe a report should be filed with the FBI. As well as the police where the load was picked up and one where it was to go to. I would file a complaint and said I had firearms, explosive devices and see how long it took the government to find my load.
capital city moving and storage (which now is called New Horizon Moving and Storage) and they are a broker...I did not know that at the time and they hired east freight logistics to move my life belongings from california to georgia last summer. and i paid extra for 50k worth of insurance and that was also a scam. i was notified from california investigators couple months ago that they found some of my things in a storage still in california. anything of monetary value was gone...my family photos gone...these people destroyed my life.
7 to 21 days was the first red flag. Reputable movers NEVER give that kind of approximate date of arrival. Reputable movers know exactly where your stuff is enroute, within reason. I hate it when flakes screw military people especially. It's a shame they don't show the faces and workers involved in the scam. Was a time when the armed forces had a list of reputable moving companies that were honest. First sign of a problem, the company would have lost all those potential military personnel, moving, relocating, retiring or separating from the military.
Susa... I remember those days. The military also had a list for reputable renters, so the family could be assured that the house was in proper working order and the rent was reasonable. Too bad we can't bring that back😥
Beyond messed up. As someone that was just recently thinking of hiring a company this terrifies me. I rather do it myself...us, people, truly do not care about each other, morals, ethics anymore. To do this to people is awful.
This is why you never use a broker. I moved from Illinois to Florida and used Allied. I had the same driver who picked up and delivered. It cost $13K but got everything and only 1 item broken. Do your research. You get what you pay for.
Federal prosecutors should seriously look at the RICO statutes for this case. Because these people appear to be in the business of committing crimes, which in this case is the business of stealing and selling people's belongings under the guise of a moving company.
This is so common in the moving company industry. A lot of the online 'retailers' pawn off the contract on another company, usually with a bad rep. That company can then also subject the customer to litany of unwarranted charges, fees, and nonsense including damaged goods due to unprofessional staff and transport. If customer puts up a fight to these unlawful practices, the company then deems the customer as a non-payment, and starts the 'we're holding all your stuff in storage' fiasco, thus accumulating more fines and fees for the client. It's a scam, plain and simple. Call law enforcement, and remember these guys change company names and profiles to evade legal repercussions.
At 54 with medical issues, I rented a 15’ Penske Truck and moved from Atlanta, Georgia to Los Angeles, California. By myself, I moved a living room, bedroom, dining room, library, music studio, baby grand piano, dining room, kitchen items, shoes clothes, portable washer and dryer, etc., all by my damn self. I spent about $2,000 with insurance on the truck minus gas. I moved all in $400 per month storage, flew back to Atlanta, picked up my car, and drove back to LA, and did I say, all while homeless? Bottom line, get off your asses and do it yourself. What good is having friends and family if they can’t help you move? I didn’t have any help, but I made it 💯🙏🏿👍🏿
Obnoxious & pretentious is what you're sounding like. At your age boomer, you should know well that situations in life aren't black and white . And the majority of those who have a life with obligations in it, can't just up and leave to travel cross country with their belongings. It's not that they're "lazy and can't get off their behinds". It's just you were homeless and had all the time in the world buddy. For someone who was in a low situation as being "homeless" ...you sure are judgy. Best of luck to you! You sound like you have it all figured out.
Last time I moved, I rented a 26ft uhaul, packed all my stuff in it, had my wife drive behind me with the minivan and kids and we drove almost 24 hrs to our new life. Had all our stuff there when we arrived and never had to deal with the nightmares these folks are going through.. The saying, "if you want it done right, you gotta do it yourself" efinitely applies here..
I’d make sure I save enough money for new furniture before making a big move. I’d keep any valuables with me and sell everything else or giveaway, then buy new furniture where I’m at. No need to worry about this.
I'm so not surprised. I've had similar problems with even small time local movers several years ago. I can't even make a household repair call anymore & expect the repairman to deal honestly.
I just lost everything to one of these moving companies! EVERYTHING IS GONE! We are in the process of working with a private investigator. This is way more common than people realize!
Four years ago we moved to the Big Island and hired Prime movers. Promises, promises, money after money payments. Lost most of our stuff, over half. My heart goes out to all these folks that were robbed of their lives and memories.
There is absolutely no way you can move across country for the prices in this story. You can pause the video and read the contract on the people that moved from Victorville, Ca to Ohio. They were billed $2500 for a cross country move, how they thought this was even close to being legit is beyond me. Did they not get estimates from other moving companies? If they did they would have seen that quote is well below market price and that should have raised a red flag. My company routinely sends freight (furniture) from Ohio to California and we spend just over $6000 a trip. I feel sorry for these people got screwed over, but when a deal is to good to be true it probably is.
Yah I paid $17k for my 9000 plus packing from United to go from Los Angeles to TN.. prices have gone up, i worked as a coordinator for mayflower in 2007-2010 and my estimate weight and miles i figured maube $9-11k.. boy was I off. I was a professional mover for over 10 years and was always the upmost professional service and people don’t really know that good movers are unsung heroes! I put so many smiles on people’s faces!! Just because they could trust me and all there belongings would arrive Undamaged and full inventory always accounted for! This is unacceptable!! I’ve came across horror stories!! And the workers aren’t the problem! It’s the corrupt owners and businesses!! Most moving companies don’t even have employees! And they get paid very poorly and survive on tips, those companies are usually the worst! And they are mostly all of em even the big names! So when they hire bums with no experience and pay them $10/hr what do u expect! And I’ve done all my moving in Southern California, but have all experience from military to white glove service! Much love to all you hard working honest mover!! Y’all are heroes!! Keep being you! God will bless you!

We are moving across the country too. We have options that would cost nearly the same, drive there ourselves or rent a box and ship it there. Even though, there's nothing valuable in our boxes. My family seen enough to not trust any movers. I wish those Japanese moving companies are here. They treat you like human being and they treat your belongings like they are their mother's.
That is outrageous. I feel really sorry for those people. Travel light, rent a U-haul, hire strong guys on both ends to load and unload your belongings, and have peace of mind.
My mother is 104 years old, her personal antiques, irreplaceable memorabelia has been missing for over 57 days, she is on Hospice and may not live to ever see her belongings (our family inheritance) ever again! STAY AWAY FROM PRICELINE LOGISTICS AND EXPEDITE AUTHORITY!!!
This is HORRIBLE :( I hired movers to move my life possesions from the East Coast to the midewest during mid-COVID height. I collect vinyl records 100 crates in total, as well as very high end furniture and i was terrified of the thought of loss, damage, etc. However, these movers and company were incredibly professional and got my items delivered to my new residence in 7 days versus the UP TO 21 days it could possibly take. I was so relieved... i can only imagine the pain these people are going through. I hope they get resolve
I've moved many times, including moves cross country several times. Every time I moved out of state, I've rented a Uhaul truck and hired local moving companies to help me load and unload the stuff. I've never lost any of my belongings. One time for a local move I decided it would be simpler to just have a mover use his own truck and that was a mistake. His truck was filthy and there was lots of junk in it. Also he had a real attitude and added fees to the bill that had not been disclosed. I paid it just to be done with him and get my stuff back. I will always rent my own truck in the future.
I've never hired anyone to do anything for me, unless I could void insurance like plumbing and certain electrical. Not only for this reason but I don't ever want to count on anyone for anything
My family used a moving company many years ago. After months of waiting we finally received most of our things. It was obvious that all of our boxes had been opened and gone through. Nothing was the way we had packed it. Some things we never got back and it just felt weird/strange that strangers went through all our things.

I had insurance, but the moving company wouldn’t call me back and eventually blocked my calls. My parents had recently died and I lost everything I had of theirs. I had to just get over it bc the company vanished. PS What they do is just change their name and keep scamming people, so be careful. I reported them, but it did no good. I never got anything back, nor was I compensated.
Only in business for one year and more then 350 complaints? Why do people keep coding to do business with them? Are they just searching for lowest price possible and saying "Looks good!"
I am a 25 year veteran (retired). Now that I think about it, the few, very few, objects that I have accumulated over the years are very important to me. My war chest, saber, battlefield trophies, personal weapons are all safely stored back in the States by family. My sister has digitalized all of our multigenerational family photos which I urge you all to do (in the case of fire, natural disaster, etc.) I digress. I agree. Don't like the idea of packers/movers going thru my "stuff", pretending they're packing it when in reality eyeing what they may wanna take for themselves. It's too personal people handling my belongings. I'd rather do it myself. Or sell off the big items before the move (offer up), it's just stuff at the end of the day. Family pics/mementos are different.
Moved across country twice in the last 20 years. 1st time rented the biggest truck and towed a vehicle behind, had family and friends help load the truck.. 2nd time sold everything that didn't fit in my suv or the 8x4 moving pod and then had the SIL flyout and had a great time driving back across the county.
This is not a one company thing - This is a country wide scam, I hired a company called “Mover Dudes” out of Florida and they are doing the same scam. They collect 2/3 of the money and dump your stuff in a storage unit and never deliver. The US motor carrier has jurisdiction and no other law enforcement will touch, ironically the Federal Motor carrier division is a civil group - they have no law enforcement power. We need a federal law change or this will never stop!
Muscle Beach Movers, I have known them for over 30 years, honest, hard-working, affordable and the ones who are loading the truck will be who unloads it. You can even follow the truck across the country because after loading they drive straight to where it is going. I drive for them on occasion and the last job was really cool, an older couple wanted their 2 cats a dog to have a first-class move from Calif. to Ohio, they had the run of 2 hotels over night and I had harnesses on them so they could get out and stretch at all the rest stops and the toughest part was turning them over to the owners in Ohio because we had we become so attached on our journey but they forgot about me real quick when they saw there Momma and Daddy, and it is said I dropped a tear but I don't remember that.
I might have a small move from Ca to az; small amount of stuff. Somewhere around a studio to one bedroom. I did see that the adds are all brokers mostly; and the prices are outrageous. I might rent a truck. But they’re really high now too. Do you have any interest in a smaller job like mine?
This has been going on for years with these moving companies if you’re going to move across the country sell as much of your belongings as possible and pack the most important things of value you can always replace furniture and so on….
I agree... Having moved across the country as well as overseas... Many times... At first it's like... Trying to move (take) everything... Then realizing... Moving... Creates a new life... Things that are needed in the life I left.... Are not the same things that I need in the NEW Life that I now have... SO MUCH more EZY to just bring the hard to replace items that are valuable/sentimental with you (or put into storage to get when you are settled)... A New location... A New life... A New Start... Why not make it Less stressful...
I am an employee at one of the top rated moving company’s in my area and we see some shady customers but we would never do this to anyones belongings worse we would do if u refuse to pay would be unload the stuff into the driveway and we probably would even put a tarp to protect from the elements of nature
This is why you ALWAYS do research on a company BEFORE dealing with them. There’s just too many scams out there. Trustpilot, Yelp, Google Reviews, anything. It’s so easy to do a little research, don’t let this be you!
You really do get what you pay for. A reputable company will pack for you to ensure nothing breaks, tag everything with barcodes, give you an inventory and keep thou updated of delays. Yes this is going to cost you thousands, but if you want to be cheap about it, rent a uhaul and do it yourself. Also never leave valuables with a moving company. A reputable one will ask you to declare the valuables for insurance reasons.
Never use a broker, always use a national farm. When you use a broker it’s hard to file a claim when things are broken. They will break things in lies so they didn’t break it because the claim goes against them and that’s if nothings messing.
That's why you think before you leap. If a company has several negative reviews do your research and find out why. Unfortunately Bernard Madoff's victims didn't

With a temp agency, I worked for one of the largest moving companies in Canada called AMJ. One guy dropped a computer & said "That didn't happen". For a provincial house move, the crew was drunk. 2 guys were passed out 1/2 the day. When guy sleeping in back of truck woke up, he took out a chunk of door frame & put it back like a puzzle piece. Sleeping drunk guys were not even timed out, so moving company scammed too. @@frankm8533 if they were only allowed to drive 8 hours per day, had 1 hour of breaks per day and factored in traffic it wouldn’t take more than 1 week of physically traveling from LA to NY so what are the extra 14 days about?
So smart!!!!
Smart thinking!
Many Hispanics are so hardworking
Easy. Hire the same company again to the next job. Once you get them inside lock the doors. Handle your business. You know what's up.
👍👍👍PERFECT!!!👍👍👍
Just like in the Richard Pryor movie Moving (1988).
You obviously did not hear the fact that they're not a moving company. They act like it and sub contact out to actual moving companies, only to move your shit to storage units they fail to pay rent on.
That's wt I was going to say it's not that hard police don't do nothing take it into your own hands
Now this is what I call a sweet revenge!
Smart!!!!!
Will be relocating out of state next year and was wondering how we could pull a move off without going the route of a company. Thank you for posting because it never registered to add people to help out.
1000000% best method I ever heard
Agreed! We just moved from Florida to Wisconsin and we just got a uhaul and trailer for one of the vehicles. Flew my brother out and he helped me load the truck and we drove it up ourselves! Nobody’s going to treat your things the way you want them treated besides you!

I know it feels personal like especially if you were targeted
How are the police saying this is a civil matter when these two companies aren't even attempting to deliver, they pick up and store your stuff and rummage thru it. That's theft!!!!

I've never lost any of my belongings. One time for a local move I decided it would be simpler to just have a mover use his own truck and that was a mistake. SO MUCH more EZY to just bring the hard to replace items that are valuable/sentimental with you (or put into storage to get when you are settled)... A New location... A New life... A New Start... Why not make it Less stressful...
This is horrible, I hope they get thrown in jail.
I am an employee at one of the top rated moving company’s in my area and we see some shady customers but we would never do this to anyones belongings worse we would do if u refuse to pay would be unload the stuff into the driveway and we probably would even put a tarp to protect from the elements of nature
If you see a rental truck pull up in your driveway
don’t let them touch your stuff period !!!!
This is why you ALWAYS do research on a company BEFORE dealing with them. There’s just too many scams out there. Trustpilot, Yelp, Google Reviews, anything. It’s so easy to do a little research, don’t let this be you!
Or better rent your own truck
With the amount of people moving out of CA, here comes the scammers trying to capitalize.
They didn’t know it was a broker
@@ballsdeep9400 maybe they should read better!
What a nightmare.
Never use a broker, always use a national farm. When you use a broker it’s hard to file a claim when things are broken. They will break things in lies so they didn’t break it because the claim goes against them and that’s if nothings messing.
Most times people don't know they're using a broker. I didn't. They used the name of a reputable company and I had no clue until afterwards.
@@madreep that’s why you read the paperwork you sign lol!! It’s all in writing!
Jail them all, the management, the workers, this is an obvious scam, they will all turn on each other.
Storage pirates. Only in California the broker should be banned forever. No other state have these types of crimes.
That's why you think before you leap. If a company has several negative reviews do your research and find out why.
Unfortunately Bernard Madoff's victims didn't
No body moving to California?😂
People can't afford California, so they are moving out to cheap states
Theres actually tons of people moving to cali all the time. The weather, the economy, geography, california is a big varied state of anything you could ever want or do.
@@aegisreflector1239 if you can afford it 👍👍
😉😂
I’ve been hearing “everyone is leaving California no one wants to come here” since I’ve been living in Los Angeles lmao 30 years here and shit still looks the same, even more populated so what is it?
So many companies that’s not being held accountable for their negligence.
B4 u let ppl leave with ur stuff u should ALWAYS ADD A TRACKER! And always keep ur important photos and jewelry WITH YOU!!!! Gosh do ppl leave their doors unlocked too? How do ppl just trust ppl like this?
With a temp agency, I worked for one of the largest moving companies in Canada called AMJ. One guy dropped a computer & said "That didn't happen". For a provincial house move, the crew was drunk. 2 guys were passed out 1/2 the day. When guy sleeping in back of truck woke up, he took out a chunk of door frame & put it back like a puzzle piece. Sleeping drunk guys were not even timed out, so moving company scammed too. My suggestion is force company to hire your relatives for the day, so you have extra eyes, watch everybody & don't be shy to record.
I moved last year out of state and did the backbreaking work myself with a U-Haul. Trust no one.
Ditto....California to Oregon ....11 hours non stop ( fuel stops) My U-Haul & My Life(Items) safe !
A 7-21 day delivery time?! I’ve never moved across country with movers but that time range seems insane, is that normal?
Sounds way to long. I drove to my aunts in Arizona from Maryland took 34hrs in a 16foot box truck
@@frankm8533 if they were only allowed to drive 8 hours per day, had 1 hour of breaks per day and factored in traffic it wouldn’t take more than 1 week of physically traveling from LA to NY so what are the extra 14 days about? That timeline would have me immediately question HOW they ran their operation. Are they moving more than one household/per truck and stopping at multiple locations? That would be the only reason I can think of for such a long delivery time 🤷🏻♀️
@@jacencko011 That's true just sounds shady! you see what happened people stuff getting unloaded at a storage unit for no reason! I helped a elderly couple move maybe 40 minutes away they hired a moving company cause they had no family. That was a ordeal also. Stuff was missing you could see where they cut open boxes then retaped them & that was less then a hour away. They got there lawyer involved but nothing ever happened the company closed a short time later.
