- hi my gorgeous and wonderful friends! 🐥🐥💕 today i’ll be showing you how i set up my rat cage! i will also be giving a cage tour of their new setup.
the bedding i use in my rat cage is littlemax, and in their litter boxes i use recycled paper pellets. i clean my rat cage every week, and i will link the latest cleaning video below. if you've got any questions please leave them in the comments!

i knowwww loads of rat specific accessories are so expensive 🤦♀️🤦♀️ especially from pet shops!! i got loads of the ropes in their cage from pound land since it’s sooo much cheaper! i’ll have to look around and see what else we can get cheaper!💕🐭

Idk if you remember me commenting on another video about my hamster snowy becoming older and slower, well an update is that she has some how recovered! She runs constantly and doesn’t stumble anymore! She is eating and drinking more too! So I am so relieved but confused what was wrong with her before 🤔
But she is doing amazing for her age of being 2 years and 4 months on the 19th of December!

I love your cage setup! How many rats do you have? Also do you have any tips on convincing my parents to let me have rats? They think that they are dirty animals and have diseases.

I'm thinking of getting rats soon, but my parents are worried about what we do with them when we travel. We normally have 3 or 4 two night long trips to local national parks. We also go to India for a few weeks every year. How long would I be able to leave my rats with food and water in their cage? If I hired a private pet sitter, would my rats be ok without free roam time for a few weeks while I'm gone?

aw thank you! 💖 i wouldn’t recommend leaving them for more than a day as anything can happen - always best to either hire a pet sitter or leave them with a trusted friend if you can! you can get a playpen if you’d like and leave that for whoever you trust your rats with so it’s easier for them to be let out as well without worrying abt them getting lost or anything while you’re not there! i would also recommend a wheel and foraging toys as free roam time might not be as available to them and this way they will still get exercise and enrichment xx

Hey I just came from your video about making rat mixes and I'm very sad that none of the base mixes or the supplements are available in the US so i was just wondering if you had recommendation for other bases and supplements that are available in the US
I'm in the U. S. and I don't know if it's the same thing or if it works just the same, but I've been using Oxbow rat food as the base. There are 2 kinds, one is triangular shaped and the other is big pellet shaped (if that makes sense). I mix them and make it my base.
Hey! can i make wooden accesories for rats? if i know right raw wood not good because that absorb the bee, but what if i use lacquer or pickle ( ofc after it dries )?
i dont like plastic colorful things, thats why i want make my own, if its good for rats.
you can make your own wooden accessories but you have to make sure the wood is safe so definitely do your research! you can use something called plasterkote to coat the wood which will stop the pee from being absorbed and it is safe for animals
Oh I heard that wheels are bad for rats spines?
they can be if they’re not big enough! if the wheel is too small it’s bad for their spine, as their spine could arch when they run. as long as you get at least a 14 inch wheel for girls and a 16 inch for boys, and make sure that when they run on it their back is straight! it can be a good source of enrichment and exercise as long as it’s an appropriate size! x
Do you ever give any hamster supplies away? I am having the hardest time finding a wheel. I have a dwarf winter white and nowhere near me has a wheel. Unable to order online due to not having a card to use.
Rats use rocks to pee on Cat litter is not good for them best to use rocks as that is what they use in the wided
recycled paper pellets are safe for them :-) and they mostly use their litter box to poop, they usually pee where they want! i used to use pee rocks in their cage but stopped using them since my rats just prefer to pee all over their cage haha, i'll put some back in and see if they use it to pee :-)
