    It's not possible to charge six cars simultaneously with 350 kW. Ionity usually has a 1250kVA transformer for six stalls. If there are 12 stalls, then they add another transformer to have 2500kVA.

    • @suvari225
      @suvari225 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Still, power sharing is not a bad idea. EV drivers need more stalls per charging location.

    • @lucas7793
      @lucas7793 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, but it's not the concept of Ionity. I think it would have been better to do the same as Electrify America and have a mix of 350 kW and 150 kW.

    • @suvari225
      @suvari225 ปีที่แล้ว

      EA should install minimum 12 stalls per location. I am okay if they only install 150kw chargers. 800v cars like ionic 5 etc can still pull more than 150kw on those chargers. That’s plenty enough.

    • @lucas7793
      @lucas7793 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Psi-Storm Well, you just have to divert the user with the price. If for example 150 kW cost 59ct/kWh and 350 kW 79ct/kWh, I bet most people would use the correct charger. At least after the first time they used a 350 kW with a car which doesn't utilize it, they probably notice that they could have saved 20ct/kWh.

    Hi Bjørn, I bought ID.5 Pro 6 months ago and drive it in Bergen, 77 kw/h battery, 533km WLTP, but I barely get 240 km range in winter, I drive alone, no load, I tested it several times, when I charge it 100% it shows 410 km on display, I drive home-work-home, 15km round trip. Some say the range is normal for city driving, do you think it is normal? Or should I take the car to the battery check? Please help.

    Bjørn talking about butplugs. I use one for my model 3 to cover that CCS port when charging outside at home. So that the rain and snow cant get in there.
    Is that smart by me or that port does not care at all if snow or rain gets in there?

    • @stal5861

      Should not be a problem. There are drainage holes in the DC-part of the CCS.

      @@stal5861 I wouldn't want all the drifting snow and sleet to freeze in the DC part of the CCS when charging on Type 2 outside in winter (so at home on the drive which is most of the charging). So I very much appreciate a cover, but that design on the ID5 (and many other cars) is just stupid!

      No, the SW guy at VW said it will come next fall. I think he said they pushed some features forward to 3.0 & 3.1 and then pre-conditioning will come before fall/winter. I think it’s smart as it’s not that relevant when temperatures are higher now

    It seems that Toyota drivers are the slowest drivers all over the world, here in New Zealand it's the same thing! Always a Toyota corolla holding everyone up.
    I always wonder if the type of person that buys a Toyota is slow, or if the Toyota encourages you to drive slow. Whenever I drive Toyota rental car I drive fast..

    VW's software sucks, I wouldn't trust them to ever achieve an equivalent system to Tesla. They are lagging behind and Tesla is still pulling on them, as time passes it just gets relatively worse to have a VW vs a Tesla.
    Then take into account charging speeds, especially when you charge the right way during road trips and it's a no brainer.
    Something i have thought about, do the Tesla's not lose efficiency because they pre-heat the batter during the 1000km test? When I route to a charger, my consumption goes up by 50Wh/km. This VW doesn't pre-heat so efficiency comparison seems to be skewed in the VW advantage.

    • @nothere572
      @nothere572 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Except in many cases the VW can be significantly cheaper if you count the ID.4 as well. The cabin is nicer, seats are nicer, much more comfortable ride. Software is great on Tesla but the VW has other advantages as well.

    • @stevemulroy1417
      @stevemulroy1417 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that Tesla is technologically superior. But, and this is subjective, they are just fugly… inside and out… the inside is, for me soulless… just a dashboard and a big screen… made worse with that stupid aircraft steering ‘wheel’ they have as an option… I’ll admit I’ve never driven one and I’ve only been in a model S as a passenger, which I liked, but the model 3, Y, X… no.. never… I’ll go for one of the following: Mustang, EV6, Enyaq, ID4 or ID5. They at least, have some character in terms of looks..

    • @timmos184
      @timmos184 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevemulroy1417 I like minimalistic, I liked it when smartphones came out and there were a lot less buttons, a lot of people said it would never break through then as well.
      The inside of a Tesla is clean and utilitarian, how you feel about that is subjective indeed,
      Having gone on a bunch of road trips, I like the big screen, I watch netflix or youtube when charging and the big map is also a big plus in my book.
      The wheel is round in 3 and Y, don't know what you have against those cars, the Y offers great space for front and back seat passengers.
      Having never driven one, maybe you shouldn't make up your mind already. Tesla's are loved by those who own them. there's got to be a reason for that.

    • @timmos184
      @timmos184 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nothere572 The seats are great in the Tesla's, the ride can be harsh, but look at the specs, Tesla's are a lot more sporty and drive that way. They could use air suspension or any form of adaptive suspension, but the Y and 3 LR with standard wheels are acceptable for the performance they deliver. Look at Bjorn's review of Berlin MY performance, the Berlin MY LR will likely be more than acceptable on the 19inch wheels.
      If you like clean and utilitarian, the Tesla is nice, it's subjective. People didn't like smartphones, they lacked buttons...
      What advantages does the VW have? It is cheaper but you shouldn't compare base ID4 without options to a MY, you should spec it up similar and see how much price difference you have remaining. Also look at all the specs, Tesla's cost a bit more but they deliver more.
      Sound proofing and harsh ride is improving (only things VW really beats Tesla in), as per Bjorn, with Berlin made Tesla's.
      Look at space offered, the frunk, the flat floor for the backseats, you seem to ignore a lot that Tesla offers, it's not just the software. (While an ever improving car is far better, look at resell value for EV's and ICE cars and then separate Tesla to compare.

      @@timmos184 Tesla doesn’t even have Matrix LED or a Head Up Display, which is a shame for that price.
