The Book Mushrooms of Cascadia, I'm in Texas, I bought this book before the video was even finished!! When I heard him describing how the book will help teach me HOW to ID these mushrooms I keep finding, that are not always easy to ID through photos, I was thrilled to have this book! I know I won't have all the mushrooms of the PNW here in Texas. But I'm sure there will be quite a few cross overs!! I can't wait to get my hands, AND EYEBALLS, on this book!!
I just had the immense pleasure of hiking in Gifford Pinchot with Michael, through a Friends of the Gorge event. An amazing, knowledgeable (an understatement), and hilarious man. So grateful for his time and wisdom!
Wow this video is amazing. My wife is fighting a candida issue rn and this video is like big news for us, and we just got some shitakis on sale. I googled it, I guess they have an enzyme that breaks down the cell walls of candida. Amazing. This is wild.
I would start to follow all of the mushroom Facebook pages that you can, a lot of them talk about events like this. This was the Gorge fungi foray, held in Tri-Lake Washington. There are mushroom festivals held all over the place!
Because that would get us closer to finding our independence and mega-corporations can't lose money due to a educated population. Mindless consumption of pills and other harmful drugs.
Hello I live in Southern Utah most of the mushrooms I find are in the high elevation Rocky Mountains. Right now I can confidently identify Boletes, puffballs, coral mushrooms, and fly agaric, but there are so many more out there. I don't know many Mycologists who've done a lot of research in this area or written A book like this. How well do you think it would hold up if used the book here, is the information similar or would the geographical location of the Rocky Mountains contradict the key that you've made for the region? Or is it still possible to use it here?
I'm sure a lot of the mushrooms would translate! One of the biggest mushroom festivals in the country is held in Telluride Colorado, very similar environment to where you live, and a lot of the same mushrooms grow there, although they often associate with different types of trees. Last summer we went foraging in Colorado just outside of Utah and found lots of familiar mushrooms. This channel, and Dr Beugs book, could both be very useful in your area.
