    Hey Thomas. Thanks for the cool movies. Really enjoying them. BTW I bought FWN last year March from Roy at Panorama. It is great to see all of the cool vids you made with her !!

      Johann Smit glad you like them! That’s amazing news about FWN, I had wondered where her new home was. Perhaps we should fly together sometime!

      Hi @@ThomasMarrow
      I am currently leasing FWN to Superior Pilot Services at Grand Central for training and hire-and-fly.
      Yes we should definitely go for a flip sometime!

    lovely video. I met briefly the designer/builder of this aircraft at the Africa Friedrichshafen lat year. Very nice and passionate person. Probably for touring a slightly more powerful aircraft will do. Otherwise you just need a bit of headwind and it will slow it down quite a lot...

      Alex Wonner I am currently having one built with a Rotax 915 engine. Hopefully this will give it that extra boost

      Good day Thomas. Thanks a lot for the reply. Will be interesting to see. The Sling 2 is great but a bit of headwind and he is rather sluggish...And also I think the Sling is slowly getting too pricey.

    Well done mate, I would love to get a ride in the radial monster once KFA got it finished.
    But, I flew the plane 2000 Km around the Karoo (around xmas) with a lot of gear, therefore it is a great cruiser, too.

      Ol Kaa of course! I can’t wait until she’s ready.
      Definitely, a slow cruise can sometimes be a better cruise or we just put some spats and small wheels on and it’ll be there in no time.

    Great video Thomas, wish I could live and fly with you......I am in USA...Michigan....not nearly as nice to fly as in South Africa. .....could you review the BUSH CAT by Sky Reach?? Also, new subscriber too.....!!

    Dankie Thomas Marrow vir die video. Netjiese vliegtuig. Jy segt jy gebruik tans 'n Rotax 912 UL en beplan 915 of so iets. Ek sien op YT dat Diesel enjins word ook nu gebruik. Die Smart (MBence) 1000cc en 1 500cc se enjin word omgebou en ge-instaleer. Sal jy so iets oorweeg? En waar het jy op gestyg en geland? Natal?

    will be interesting how this plane is flying in summer in the Karoo with heavy thermals and turbulences, updraft, dowdraft. Might be uncomfortable. Flew once on the Sling 2 from Bloem back to EL, summer day, afternoon, fortunatetly with an instructor. Was at times scarry!

      Alex Wonner any light aircraft will feel the bumps in turbulent air. The fun of being in a small plane!

    And yet another Kitfox clone. Dean Wilson would be pleased.

    Are you sure this will cruise at 80-95knots -- are you sure its not MPH? 42 knots is not impressive for a STOL take off..... ??

    • @ThomasMarrow
      @ThomasMarrow  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Comfortably cruises between 85-90kts. The newer model with a Rotax 915 gets to 100kts in the cruise.
      The aircraft will lift off at about 30kts in under 75m with no wind. Climb out is about 55-60kts

    • @TurboDirectSA
      @TurboDirectSA 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThomasMarrow Still Stall speed of 42knots is nowhere near a STOL aircraft -- 42MPH is also not that impressive for a STOL aircraft

    • @ThomasMarrow
      @ThomasMarrow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What is your definition of a STOL aircraft?

    • @TurboDirectSA
      @TurboDirectSA 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThomasMarrow surprising you would ask this -- well here goes anyways. The Zenith 701 is considered a STOL aircraft, and STALLS at 30mph -- not 48mph (42knots),
      next the Hornet CUB -- STALLS 33MPH -- not 48mphStall: 29 kts / 33 mph / 54 kph
      Cruise: 80 kts / 92 mph / 148 kph
      Empty weight: 750 lbs / 340 kg
      MTOW: 1320 lbs / 599 kg
      next the bushcat, which i owned and dont even consider as a true STOL plane - BUT none the less -- STALLS at 33MPH - not 48MPH specs below
      Stall: 30 kts / 35 mph / 56 kph
      Cruise: 82 kts / 94 mph / 152 kph
      Empty weight: 670 lbs / 304 kg
      MTOW: 1320 lbs / 599 kg
      and the list goes on and on and on --

    • @ThomasMarrow
      @ThomasMarrow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just curious as to what your idea of STOL is. Stall speed is only one aspect of STOL - there are very many more such as MTOW, Maximum Braking Power, Acceleration to Rotate speed etc etc etc.
      The official definition of STOL:
      "STOL (Short Take Off and Landing). STOL performance of an aircraft is the ability of aircraft to take off and clear a 50-foot obstruction in a distance of 1,500 feet from beginning the takeoff run. It must also be able to stop within 1,500 feet after crossing a 50-foot obstacle on landing."
      The MTOW of this aircraft is 750KG. TODR of this aircraft fully loaded is 80m. LDR at gross is 75m. These figures were calculated at over 5000ft elevation.

    If you go for that certain 7 cylinder radial.. ditch it before you get it. Its scrap! the quality and the support is even more crap!

      Already decided to go for the Rotax 915is instead
