- Today we are teaming up with Arms Family Homestead to go noodling giant flathead catfish in their creek! With a lot of heavy spring rains, the creek sat at a high level for a while and allowed these creek monsters to swim up from the lake and get trapped! Jay, this will sound gross, but as a scuba diver I can tell you that if you are going to use a mask, you will need to Spit in it, wipe it around with your finger, then rinse once. That will keep your mask clear.

I really enjoyed this video. It took me back to my much younger days when we noodled the creeks for stranded fish around large rocks. They were going to die from lack of water very soon, and we simply made use of the meals they provided. We often pulled out snakes and threw them into the weeds that lined the banks of the dry stream. It was glorious fun. We often caught 40 or 50 fish and took them home to provide several meals for our poor family. I remember it like it was yesterday, and that was 70 years ago.
I am sure you are proud of Jay, and the way she handled that 20 pounder. Your catching snakes doesn't bother me, as long as I don't have to do it. Not that I am afraid to do it, but I just don't know my snakes that well, and there are a few cottonmouths that live in Missouri. At 81 I am not doing much of any kind of fishing, let alone noodling or snake catching.
I have nothing but the best of wishes and prayers going toward you and your wonderful family. Those babies are beautiful. I bet Jay is a wonderful mother. I don't wish to alarm, but I noticed that Jay's face seemed swollen. I pray that she is well.

Another great video!! You could start to see defeat in Jays eye's just before she caught the flathead! Great job Jay and Cole!! Cole make sure you get through rehab on that hand or arm before you do to much or you might have more problems later in life. I damaged my back about18 years ago and believe me it's been a life changing injury you don't want. You two are great keep up the videos!

Her and her dad go noodling all the time and she's 5 ft and I think the biggest one she's ever got was 60 lb but she's really nice. She's on TH-cam. It's under Hannah Barron or Jeff Barron. Jeff Barron is her dad. Maybe you could get together with him or sometime and she she can show you how to do it for in Alabama 🌹

Wow! 😂😂 Cole! I have told you about them dadgum snakes! You freak me out every time you catch them, especially when they bite you! They may not be venomous, but they carry infection! You guys need to find your way to Black Warrior River in Alabama!!! I heard of stories from probably late 40-s-50’s, where certain people would make trotlines, I think it was mainly made of Catgut, fishing line from intestine of sheep then. Soaking them in used engine oil, bringing home huge numbers of Big Catfish! That and the Tombigbee River! Hannah Barron might meet halfway on something like that! Where again, Cole always bringing guy friends, how many think Jay ought to have a girlfriend to do some serious fishing?

Those flathead catfish will eat a bass quick like. There's one about that size tries to get my bass when I catch them. I fish the culvert that goes under the road and the backwater goes through there in high water

They can put you on 40 plus pounds catfish

Remind me of my Granddad stopping because a log was across the road, where he was a very strong man’s. He could hold a keg of nails straight out in front of him with one hand. But, he grabbed the log to move it and found it moving in his hand! My grandmother sitting there nodding her head up and down. But consider the small population way back when, someone let a giant snake from Africa like Anaconda, where it had all those woods to roam unhindered full of game, plenty of water with plenty of fish, want anything stopping it from growing!

You have to be careful, swimming around all those bluegill. Years ago, my Sis was in the water, next to the floating dock, near their cabin. She was just cleaning up, and got attacked by a school of hand-sized bluegill. One of them had spotted a mole on her back and thought it was a bug. It grabbed the mole and shook, trying to pull it off. Before she knew it, there was a bunch of them, after that mole. By the time she got out of the water, the mole was bleeding. From then on, every time she gets in the water, she'll cover that mole with a bandaid.

I am surprised that these catfish have not decided to go back to the lake. Apparently, all the human company does not bother them that much. Very surprising.

I just watched the video that Daniel and Houston caught 3 large catfish and released them above the dam. Are yall planting fish for a video or how did this happen?
I think they came down the creek when it flooded with the tornados.
They had a couple of high water events and a lot of fish swam up from the lake and got trapped in some of the larger pools in their creek. When they first discovered that there were flatheads in the swimming hole, they saw 4 separate individuals. They moved the first three to give them more room and left this one for us to catch!
@COLE_and_JAY yeah I u derstamd that, but on AFH they noodled 3 flathead and released them above the dam. Did they release one for cole and jay? There had not been another storm
4 were below the dam, they put 3 above the dam, 1 was left.
