Konami will address this. They've addressed a lot of issues like eldlich banned in xyz festival. Honestly I partially don't care. Either I get a free win or an interesting matchup
I'm unironically enjoying the self burn meta. It'll probably get old, but I think its really funny. Also, I feel like I can't play normally since I do not own Zeus, or utopic draco which are both very strong cards in this format.
Hard agree...my deck is an invoked shaddoll dogmatika hybrid. In other words, fusion, fusion with gy effects, and special summon beaters. Tried making a dogmatika deck, realized ecchlisia is banned despite dogmatika not even being that good. So why would I even try with these loaner xyz decks when I'm just gonna run into numerons and zeus and utopias with experience?
To be honest, I think the best way to address this problem is not to ban any of these cards, but just make winning a lot more appealing, at least by increasing the points from winning
Thats insanely hard to do in something like yugioh, for example if a loss was only 10 medals, burn decks would still be more efficient then winning, some duels take 30 minutes+ and most duels average 10+ minutes
Make it so you don't get anything from losing and instead it just earns you credit up to a certain point towards your next win, like if you lose 3 times you get an extra 150 medals on the next win. That way you HAVE to at least try to win occasionally, and you still get something for your losses as long as the streaks aren't too long.
Konami: Play the games to the end. If you win, 100 medals. If you lose, 50 medals. Players: Wait wait wait...so I still get medals if I lose? Konami: Well, yes, but don't surrender. Player: So, if I lose 4 games to gain 200 medals...and it takes me less time for winning 2 games to get the same amount...???? Konami: *s i g h* players will always metagame everything....even losing
Good thing that Konami learned about this problem and changed the victory condition now that you have to climb up the level instead of earn points by victory. This improved in the Link Event. Thankfully!
Problem is: how u wanna prevent this? I mean there are plenty of cards u can use for a suicide deck, so Konami must ban ar least 5K cards, so there is no way u can prevent this. The only thing Konami can "adress" this somehow is to cancel any rewards by losing, but then good luck playing against pros & get shyt as a reward
The scoring system for duel rewards would work for this, where the medals you get are determined by doing XYZ things, like summoning, attacking with them, using their effects, etc
The real problem is that, players find themselves in a situation that they don't have the good deck required to compete with others and the loan deck is weak and with rewards been half. If it's going to lose anyway, it's better off to lose in 2,3 mins then waiting forever with only half of the medals.
The only reason why this is happening is because you get medals for winning or losing rather than playing the game. Medals should of been granted to stuff like “playing XYZ”, “dealing over 3000dmg w/XYZ”, etc
As a TCG player familiar with DL, it makes sense when there's no ladder and rewards even if you lose. People just want to turbo grind and well... you can't really blame them. In fact, I'm expecting all the non ranked event to be like this. Also, it's a win-win situation. The person playing this gives you the win, you both gain points and the duel is over in less than 1 minute. Now, sure, for the competitive side of the festival, it is in the trash but I don't see that as a "problem". You will still be able to play the people with actual deck and have regular fun. In any case, I hope Konami, if they hit those cards, don't punish anyone for using this. Honestly, this hurts absolutely nobody. I'm playing Madoches so I always go second anyway lol.

This is what happens when you make an event that forces you to play 200-400 duels to maximize gems earn. Hitting the deck won't really solve the problem of people just giving up games to make things go by quicker. Konami just needs to incentivize actually playing the game. Like you get +10 points for every 1000 points you score in the duel assessment. OR by making win-streaks give you extra 10 points per games won with maybe having it cap out at +50 or +100 points after 10 wins in a row. Since forcing players to win for rewards would just make it a rank 2.0 and that's annoying for casual players.
@@karlchen0079 not yet.u still have 50 ss, 50 spell activation, 50 trap too, and 50 destroying cards which only last for this event and it's 1 week deadline. It's honestly tedious. I needed to resort playing full destroy deck with 3 torrent 3 ceiling mirror force, lightining storm, twin twister hfd etc, no problem if lose as long I get to destroy cards. Special summon is easier I guess, as most xyz meta decks does lot ss like pk, madolche, utopia, zodiac etc....granted if the player have it. If not gonna be a pain fulfilling the requirements for some decks.
I mean, I'm not complaining. I actually constructed a fun deck for once in the game without having to bash my head against the meta. And if they do just so much as give me more points by burning themselves out, cheers to that.
When I saw this deck, I was like wth is this. But when you lose you get points, so this is to be expected. Other decks I see are burn decks and deck out decks.
I think the "solution" (if you even consider this a problem, that is) is to make events "loaner deck" only. They already have everything they need, they just need to make the loaner decks more fun to play.

Banning this strategy does nothing as people will find other strategies to abuse the system, the problem lies in the gem rewards. Make it so u get lower gems by loss or raise gem reward by win.

Hi, personally i think it takes me less time to kill myself than waiting 5 to 7 min for my opponent to finish his infinite combo. He is playing and I am watching. He is meta and i guest i am anti meta.
Farfa was actually playing a deck that heals just to troll these players. Personally I don't mind these much, it's fast and there are plenty of people playing real decks.
They should make this a event where you earn more points by self damage and so your opponents needs to burn himself while also stopping you from burning yourself
That was to be expected when you still gain rewards from losing, and what's faster than playing a regular Duel that goes 10 turns? Well self-mill/burn and losing in 1 turn preferably as that gives you more games in than as if you would play a regular game of yugioh. They are maximizing everything for profit here, not for winning, since winning is slow.
I'm sorry, what's the issue here? It seems like a win/win scenario. If you want the gems, you get them. If you cant spend a whole minute waiting for your opponent to surrender, just surrender. I'm playing Raidraptor and the real games are fun, but the self burners arent bothering me.

Lets be real here though, if they made losing more punishing then instead of everyone playing selftk they'll be playing zoo or some variant of whatever top tier deck there is and everyones gonna start complaining about that. People are always going to take the least amount of effort for the most amount of reward, this is why eld zoo and dry are rampant when climbing the ladder. At the very least for some people this may be unfun but atleast its not unfair because not everyone can sink the resources to build a proper xyz deck if winning was the only option.
I get that it's against the spirit of the event, but it benefits the people doing it and the people it's being done to. I can see them addressing this but maybe not doing something about it for this event but fixing it in later ones or just an emergency ban.
It's so funny that they put in the work of banning thousands of cards, but not put in a "xyz summons count" or something that rewards you with more medals. Of course if selftking its more time efficient im not gonna "try hard". If they doubled the amount of medals you get by winning or the amount of gems you get in total, then perhaps people will take it more seriously.
Well i like to imagine people that play this kind of strat don't want to expend gems or money making an Xyz deck (even if zoodiac is relatively cheap to make but still). I like the idea of the event but not that its xyz focus or at least not for the FIRST event. Konami messed that up; for example you are new to MD, farm your gems and you finally complete your deck but has nothing to do with xyz: elemental heros, Invoked Shaddoll etc (or even if you play a couple of xyz but they're not part of your win condition) The event start and now you have a deck that practically has no extra deck, and if your deck doesn't play a big beater from the main deck with a decent effect then its useless. You go to loan a deck that they are giving to us (thrash deck btw) but still you get punish by only getting half the reward even if you win. Event forces you to make a new one which is kinda stupid. The event and rewards are good, and I'm playing a zoodiac deck and crafted a Zeus bc you have to (Its not a xyz deck if it doesn't have Zeus) im just giving my opinion why people run that deck, they probably just want gems. I hope konami doesn't punish that kind of players out of nowhere or at least without a warning, thats why event have rules and ban lists. If they didnt see this kind of plays coming is konamis fault. I think thats exactly the point. I startet Master duel 3 weeks ago and don't have a deck that has a xyz win condition. So I'm almost forced to play the decks they give you. I either play games against other not so good decks and then the duel lasts 30 min (but it makes no fun at all since your deck is completely trash) or you play against zoodiac or numeron in wich case you loose almost instantly. So most of the time I lose either way but waste a lot of time. So I rather make myself a cheap deck where I lose as fast as possible and do the 400 loses quite quick instead of trying to win 200 games and still lose a lot of them. Imo for events Konami should do the same thing like supercell does in clash Royale in events you create extra decks and you are able to use every card in the game although you don't own them in normal ranked.

My personal BIGGEST fear is if they address this that they could potentially hurt participation and make the events insanely grindy for some people. When I play against that deck it's whatever, get over with it quickly and go next. I just play for rewards like them. Now if they make it that if you lose you don't gain any rewards(worst case) or very little, then that could also just hurt players that: Just aren't as experienced players Aren't well versed in deck building Don't have a lot of cards, are f2p and don't want to or have already spent crafting points for stuff and use rental decks etc. Would just get hurt/discouraged from participating because they would need to grind for a lot and WIN a lot just to get rewards. Personally, I play BA PK. Really oldschool. Summon Dantes and mill, maybe beatrice and pass with a fogblade or two. I can realistically win against serious opponents because I am just an experienced BA player and for me getting the rewards "legit" is not a problem. But not everyone is like me and they would just struggle to finish the event. Punishing legit players for losing just to discourage people from doing the most degenerate strategies that only affects themselves really is just not fair. And if they ban all those cards here is something they can't really ban: passing the turn. people FTKing themselves is just slightly faster. I do want proper duels and it's fun, but from an economic factor, i'd rather let someone that doesn't have much time or can't afford cards ftk themselves so they finish the event fast because they don't have a deck for the event or whatever so they get the rewards in a reasonable amount of time too. My suggestion would be maybe that instead of rental decks you can just build a deck without your own cards for events only. Make winning a duel worth the time. You "finish" the event quick as a good player and then can just play for fun. Just please don't make the event feel punishing to play just because you aren't someone that played Yugioh for years and is invested into the game.
Exactly my thought. Of course self burning isn't the way the game is ment to be played but for me who doesn't have a lot of time these days as exams are coming up there is no way I try to win 200 games in a week with some random trash deck I have to play cause I don't have the materials to build a xyz only deck. And cause playing the trash deck is no fun, would would I even bother if I can just self burn and get the rewards way quicker while I'm not really killing the game for my opponent. Imo you should earn more medals for winning and maybe give bonus if you win games in a row. And they should make it so in events everyone can yous every card that's allowed in the event even if you don't own them. At least for me duelling correctly would make fun even if you lose.
People in VZ are not suiciding they use usually weak farm deck that could ride itself that could be used with autoclick apps so the phone itself could just grind by itself with less to no effort by user that ofc impossible in yugioh game
After getting bagooska'd for 3 turn and 4 mat zeus in one game I decided to build the self burn ftk. Fk this shit, uts better to lose faster than to endure this kind of torment.

But in the event you have to lose to get the event point. You get none if you forfeit. I had to sit there getting bagoskaa lock n 4 mat zeus. That match took more than 40 minutes.
Konami can't ban people for using this as the cards are part of the card pool and a play-style they can use to play. I am very certain though they will ban these cards in future festival banlists to prevent this from happening again. Plus, games with it go by fast compared to normal games and is a win-win scenario regardless since both players will get medals.
tbh there's no real way konami can ban this. they'd have to ban every single card in the game that has a life point cost if they want to completely get rid of the self ftk, and even then it'll probably get replaced with somethin like self mill or some shit-- and if they reduce the loss rewards that's just as bad because everyone's just gonna run the current meta
Yes but at the same time they front loaded the rewards to the first 3700 points. After that, you only get Regular Legacy Tickets and a total of 280 gems. Not worth the effort.
I don't mind this. While yes- sometimes do want a good duel, or it can get old are true. But as an f2p maximizing event rewards is crucial. It's 20000 medals to max out. That's 200-400 matches. In a week. I get grinds, but most grinds in games I play if it's that intensive it's PVE grinds, which are easier and more do able. So anything that speeds up the process, I'm all for it. But kamikaze does have a downside. No winning rewards- so 1-4 missed per loss. It can add up.
It's either this or play for really slow grind losses cause I'm not shelling out $50 for overpriced currency to spend on random rewards to build a deck that I don't want just to participate in a temporary event when I still haven't got enough UR to finish my main deck for ranked. Bottom line this event is unplayable for f2p unless you do budget suicide purely for the rewards.

the weirdest thing about the gem rewards for this event is you get literally nothing for xyz summoning, only for special summmoning, so nobody is incentivised to xyz summon
I do hope they do not address this. Especially if winning doesn't reward you well enough for the extra effort compared to winning. Like winning 2 matches takes a lot more effort than it does to suicide 4 for the same payout.
Even with most of my opponents playing this deck and having played almost all day, I'm only at 3400 medals out of 20000. Any actual game goes on for so long that the event will be over long before you could ever humanly reach 20000. I am fine running into these decks.
either konami needs to make a separate ladder for the event so we can claim better rewards for climbing or make losing almost not worth it cause banning all self burn cards really wont solve anything. Cause someone will figure a way to worm around the system again so you have to change the design for the system rather then trying to remove all the problem cards.
At same time u can't make winning gives too much rewards and losing barely get anything coz it will discourage players as well. Especially since building decks need gems. They need different system than rely on win lose tbh. Like milestone atm are good system, tho bit tedious with 50 spell trap and destroy lol. Let be honest. If they want to make a competitive ladder they can just make win get reward and lose get as close as nothing. But it will make the event so toxic. " Oh I just lose dice rolled I might just surrend and rematch rather than wasting my time" "Why everyone playing the same meta deck , everything is mirror match now" you know what no matter how the system work, yugioh player will still complaint about it.
My idea should have been more thought out where they have the system they do have where games get tickets and tickets give rewards, but a ladder giving players bonus rewards or more is what I was more saying. For those who want the default as an example 2000 gems and some tickets you can finish the event just playing whatever. But if you wanted say a free pack of master pack or something like that maybe just more gems you compete. Something for everyone the casuals don't need to sweat getting a good amount of rewards and the try hard can go for more.
I didn't realize this was a problem 😅. I've played 6 games and won 6 games but only faced one of these self burn decks. Regardless I must admit the XYZ tournament, in part because of the banlist, has been super fun! Looking forward to the Synchro and Fusion festivals.
Here is the thing. People will either selFTK via burn, or they'll try to deck themselves out or their opponent. Just incentivise winning and be done with it. People might still do it, but as long as it's not more efficient to end yourself than to win
Not that viable too, coz it will make it too competitive and players who don't have proper festival decks will suffer. They just need to make the rewards bit less but don't require too much work. Like playing game 50 times, xyz summon 30 times, etc. Current milestone reward is nice idea, just need bit more adjustment (50 destroy and 50 traps bit ridiculous, tho 50 spell trap can be done with self FTK as well) That way less ppl will grind the event too seriously and will play more for fun as no need grind hard to get full rewards
Yep. You get 100 when you win. 50 if you lose (you don't get ANY points by surrendering if I recall). So of course, this is the quickest way to get medals in general.
personally, i'm having a blast. I've been a part of the meta for a long time (since 2008) and this is the first time i've ever seen anything like this. honestly, konami should capitalize on this. create a new "first to lose" format. give it it's own banlist and release archetypes designed around losing. maybe thats asking a bit too much but I definitely don't see this as a problem. I get gems, my opponent gets gems, no time is wasted, everyones happy. if my opponent wants to actually play, they can just go play regular ranked mode and its business as usual. everyone wins.
The thing is: I'm actually kinda down for this. When I first started making decks, the two I focused on were Dark Magician and Crusadia. I've got Numbers, Rank 7s, and Utopia support and that's it. Worst case scenario, I play this deck and beat my own ass to get points; best case scenario, I use a neutered Dark Magician deck and watch half my opponents beat their own ass.
Doesn't matter, optimized versions either answer that by hitting you to death or just conceding as your are wasting their time. Basically you become a time inefficient opponent. Who are a dime a dozen.
Karen, you despise this deck because you don't get to play Yu-Gi-Oh solitaire for 10 minutes, set up an unbeatable board, and force your opponents to not play against ya. Powers in our hands now, and just wait and see what else we can bring out if this style of deck gets banned.
maybe if people had access to the entire cardpool to begin with they wouldn't go into events with the sole intent to farm gems lol that's not a player problem that's a game problem

Nothing should be done to address the self killing decks, i believe so because while the Xyz festival was meant to be an event to have fun trying other things than the every day growing bored meta, Master duel players shouldn't trim their robes and rather grow ticker skin cause ultimately it will be them the ones whose eventually will cause Konami, on the worst case scenario, to come around reducing the rewards from losing and forcefully make us all to tryhard every damn match. Do yourselves a self burn FTK and see y'all who's the best at losing 🤷♂️
why would they fix this? you do know this game is not as free to play friendly as it seems at first glance not everybody has the right amount of $ to pay to have solid decks and if u don't know what to do at the beginning the free gems and everything u get is reduced to ashes and ur stuck with shity deck if u don't watch vids so this is as close as people can get to farm up some free cards/gems
stastically, it is a win-win situasion where it's a way fast medal but it's not fun at all fighting these type of deck which defeats the purpose of a this event in the first place

@@Angels-Haven It's only a win win if you don't care about having fun or not. We endure Eldlich, Tribri and Drytron all day, being able to play slower pace meta is what I care about, and seeing Self-Burn all the time just annoys me after 10 duels like that in a row.
i don't think it's a problem. people will just use the suicide deck until they get to 3200 medals, and after that they will just leave or play the event normally.
Lowering the loss rewards def won't fix this. It'll just make people play less or quit. I do this strat myself and aside from being fun (because thank god for once it's not me running my invoked dogmatika shaddoll against eldlich for the 4th time in plat before getting demoted AGAIN) it's also faster and uses cards I ACTUALLY have. The loaner decks seem to actually be decent, props for that, but I don't run xyz. I run a fusion deck with some beaters thrown in on occasion (doatikas banned to btw for some reason). If I'm gonna lose most of my matches playing by the rules, why WOULDNT I just speed run the process? In the end what needs fixing is the event itself, the way it's handled (I hate eldlich with passion but...maybe banning their whole existence was harsh and just proof they need a minor nerf or rebalance. And forcing players to use deck types were unfamiliar with, let alone have zero investment in because of how valuable UR mats are), and the grind.
This wouldn't have happened if konami did the opposite by getting double point with loaners instead of using a custom deck it puts everybody on a even playing field and makes the event less pay to win at the same time.
A built a classic Pk fire deck. Didn't lose a single one. Also, you get 50 when you lose and 100 when you win. Also, you don't get as many medals doing this as somebody who wins.. your total earnings will be cut in half
It's been a problem for years now since these decks first became popular in DL. I'm not surprised they ended up transitioning to this game too. Many of the players are the same players of DL. lol

There’s pendulum or traptrix etc, i mean there’s a lot of decks that you can use in this event... Be proud with your own originality

The real problem is that, players find themselves in a situation that they don't have the good deck required to compete with others and the loan deck is weak and with rewards been half. If it's going to lose anyway, it's better off to lose in 2,3 mins then waiting forever with only half of the medals.

The only reason why this is happening is because you get medals for winning or losing rather than playing the game. Medals should of been granted to stuff like “playing XYZ”, “dealing over 3000dmg w/XYZ”, etc

As a TCG player familiar with DL, it makes sense when there's no ladder and rewards even if you lose. People just want to turbo grind and well... you can't really blame them. In fact, I'm expecting all the non ranked event to be like this.
Also, it's a win-win situation. The person playing this gives you the win, you both gain points and the duel is over in less than 1 minute.
Now, sure, for the competitive side of the festival, it is in the trash but I don't see that as a "problem". You will still be able to play the people with actual deck and have regular fun.
In any case, I hope Konami, if they hit those cards, don't punish anyone for using this. Honestly, this hurts absolutely nobody.

This is what happens when you make an event that forces you to play 200-400 duels to maximize gems earn. Hitting the deck won't really solve the problem of people just giving up games to make things go by quicker. Konami just needs to incentivize actually playing the game. Like you get +10 points for every 1000 points you score in the duel assessment. OR by making win-streaks give you extra 10 points per games won with maybe having it cap out at +50 or +100 points after 10 wins in a row. Since forcing players to win for rewards would just make it a rank 2.0 and that's annoying for casual players.
I hate the idea of giving less points but additional points for win streeks and banning the selfe burn cards sounds great in my opinion

It's honestly tedious. I needed to resort playing full destroy deck with 3 torrent 3 ceiling mirror force, lightining storm, twin twister hfd etc, no problem if lose as long I get to destroy cards.
Special summon is easier I guess, as most xyz meta decks does lot ss like pk, madolche, utopia, zodiac etc....granted if the player have it. If not gonna be a pain fulfilling the requirements for some decks.
I mean, I'm not complaining. I actually constructed a fun deck for once in the game without having to bash my head against the meta. And if they do just so much as give me more points by burning themselves out, cheers to that.

When I saw this deck, I was like wth is this. But when you lose you get points, so this is to be expected. Other decks I see are burn decks and deck out decks.
I think the "solution" (if you even consider this a problem, that is) is to make events "loaner deck" only. They already have everything they need, they just need to make the loaner decks more fun to play.

Banning this strategy does nothing as people will find other strategies to abuse the system, the problem lies in the gem rewards. Make it so u get lower gems by loss or raise gem reward by win.

Hi, personally i think it takes me less time to kill myself than waiting 5 to 7 min for my opponent to finish his infinite combo. He is playing and I am watching. He is meta and i guest i am anti meta.
Farfa was actually playing a deck that heals just to troll these players. Personally I don't mind these much, it's fast and there are plenty of people playing real decks.
They should make this a event where you earn more points by self damage and so your opponents needs to burn himself while also stopping you from burning yourself

That was to be expected when you still gain rewards from losing, and what's faster than playing a regular Duel that goes 10 turns? Well self-mill/burn and losing in 1 turn preferably as that gives you more games in than as if you would play a regular game of yugioh. They are maximizing everything for profit here, not for winning, since winning is slow.

Lets be real here though, if they made losing more punishing then instead of everyone playing selftk they'll be playing zoo or some variant of whatever top tier deck there is and everyones gonna start complaining about that. People are always going to take the least amount of effort for the most amount of reward, this is why eld zoo and dry are rampant when climbing the ladder.
At the very least for some people this may be unfun but atleast its not unfair because not everyone can sink the resources to build a proper xyz deck if winning was the only option.

I get that it's against the spirit of the event, but it benefits the people doing it and the people it's being done to. I can see them addressing this but maybe not doing something about it for this event but fixing it in later ones or just an emergency ban.
It's so funny that they put in the work of banning thousands of cards, but not put in a "xyz summons count" or something that rewards you with more medals. Of course if selftking its more time efficient im not gonna "try hard". If they doubled the amount of medals you get by winning or the amount of gems you get in total, then perhaps people will take it more seriously.
I think the way to solve this is konami make a reward for how many xyz summon you summon in one game.

Well i like to imagine people that play this kind of strat don't want to expend gems or money making an Xyz deck (even if zoodiac is relatively cheap to make but still). I like the idea of the event but not that its xyz focus or at least not for the FIRST event. Konami messed that up; for example you are new to MD, farm your gems and you finally complete your deck but has nothing to do with xyz: elemental heros, Invoked Shaddoll etc (or even if you play a couple of xyz but they're not part of your win condition) The event start and now you have a deck that practically has no extra deck, and if your deck doesn't play a big beater from the main deck with a decent effect then its useless. You go to loan a deck that they are giving to us (thrash deck btw) but still you get punish by only getting half the reward even if you win. Event forces you to make a new one which is kinda stupid.
The event and rewards are good, and I'm playing a zoodiac deck and crafted a Zeus bc you have to (Its not a xyz deck if it doesn't have Zeus) im just giving my opinion why people run that deck, they probably just want gems. I hope konami doesn't punish that kind of players out of nowhere or at least without a warning, thats why event have rules and ban lists. If they didnt see this kind of plays coming is konamis fault.

I think thats exactly the point. I startet Master duel 3 weeks ago and don't have a deck that has a xyz win condition. So I'm almost forced to play the decks they give you. I either play games against other not so good decks and then the duel lasts 30 min (but it makes no fun at all since your deck is completely trash) or you play against zoodiac or numeron in wich case you loose almost instantly. So most of the time I lose either way but waste a lot of time. So I rather make myself a cheap deck where I lose as fast as possible and do the 400 loses quite quick instead of trying to win 200 games and still lose a lot of them.
Imo for events Konami should do the same thing like supercell does in clash Royale in events you create extra decks and you are able to use every card in the game although you don't own them in normal ranked.

My personal BIGGEST fear is if they address this that they could potentially hurt participation and make the events insanely grindy for some people.
When I play against that deck it's whatever, get over with it quickly and go next. I just play for rewards like them.
Now if they make it that if you lose you don't gain any rewards(worst case) or very little, then that could also just hurt players that:
Just aren't as experienced players
Aren't well versed in deck building
Don't have a lot of cards, are f2p and don't want to or have already spent crafting points for stuff and use rental decks
etc.
Would just get hurt/discouraged from participating because they would need to grind for a lot and WIN a lot just to get rewards.
Personally, I play BA PK. Really oldschool. Summon Dantes and mill, maybe beatrice and pass with a fogblade or two. I can realistically win against serious opponents because I am just an experienced BA player and for me getting the rewards "legit" is not a problem. But not everyone is like me and they would just struggle to finish the event.
Punishing legit players for losing just to discourage people from doing the most degenerate strategies that only affects themselves really is just not fair.
And if they ban all those cards here is something they can't really ban: passing the turn. people FTKing themselves is just slightly faster.
I do want proper duels and it's fun, but from an economic factor, i'd rather let someone that doesn't have much time or can't afford cards ftk themselves so they finish the event fast because they don't have a deck for the event or whatever so they get the rewards in a reasonable amount of time too.
My suggestion would be maybe that instead of rental decks you can just build a deck without your own cards for events only. Make winning a duel worth the time. You "finish" the event quick as a good player and then can just play for fun. Just please don't make the event feel punishing to play just because you aren't someone that played Yugioh for years and is invested into the game.

Of course self burning isn't the way the game is ment to be played but for me who doesn't have a lot of time these days as exams are coming up there is no way I try to win 200 games in a week with some random trash deck I have to play cause I don't have the materials to build a xyz only deck. And cause playing the trash deck is no fun, would would I even bother if I can just self burn and get the rewards way quicker while I'm not really killing the game for my opponent.
Imo you should earn more medals for winning and maybe give bonus if you win games in a row. And they should make it so in events everyone can yous every card that's allowed in the event even if you don't own them. At least for me duelling correctly would make fun even if you lose.

But in the event you have to lose to get the event point. You get none if you forfeit. I had to sit there getting bagoskaa lock n 4 mat zeus. That match took more than 40 minutes.
Konami can't ban people for using this as the cards are part of the card pool and a play-style they can use to play. I am very certain though they will ban these cards in future festival banlists to prevent this from happening again. Plus, games with it go by fast compared to normal games and is a win-win scenario regardless since both players will get medals.
tbh there's no real way konami can ban this. they'd have to ban every single card in the game that has a life point cost if they want to completely get rid of the self ftk, and even then it'll probably get replaced with somethin like self mill or some shit-- and if they reduce the loss rewards that's just as bad because everyone's just gonna run the current meta

Yes but at the same time they front loaded the rewards to the first 3700 points. After that, you only get Regular Legacy Tickets and a total of 280 gems. Not worth the effort.

I don't mind this. While yes- sometimes do want a good duel, or it can get old are true. But as an f2p maximizing event rewards is crucial. It's 20000 medals to max out. That's 200-400 matches. In a week. I get grinds, but most grinds in games I play if it's that intensive it's PVE grinds, which are easier and more do able.
So anything that speeds up the process, I'm all for it.
But kamikaze does have a downside. No winning rewards- so 1-4 missed per loss. It can add up.
It's either this or play for really slow grind losses cause I'm not shelling out $50 for overpriced currency to spend on random rewards to build a deck that I don't want just to participate in a temporary event when I still haven't got enough UR to finish my main deck for ranked. Bottom line this event is unplayable for f2p unless you do budget suicide purely for the rewards.

Like winning 2 matches takes a lot more effort than it does to suicide 4 for the same payout.
Even with most of my opponents playing this deck and having played almost all day, I'm only at 3400 medals out of 20000. Any actual game goes on for so long that the event will be over long before you could ever humanly reach 20000. I am fine running into these decks.
either konami needs to make a separate ladder for the event so we can claim better rewards for climbing or make losing almost not worth it cause banning all self burn cards really wont solve anything. Cause someone will figure a way to worm around the system again so you have to change the design for the system rather then trying to remove all the problem cards.

My idea should have been more thought out where they have the system they do have where games get tickets and tickets give rewards, but a ladder giving players bonus rewards or more is what I was more saying. For those who want the default as an example 2000 gems and some tickets you can finish the event just playing whatever. But if you wanted say a free pack of master pack or something like that maybe just more gems you compete. Something for everyone the casuals don't need to sweat getting a good amount of rewards and the try hard can go for more.
I didn't realize this was a problem 😅. I've played 6 games and won 6 games but only faced one of these self burn decks. Regardless I must admit the XYZ tournament, in part because of the banlist, has been super fun! Looking forward to the Synchro and Fusion festivals.
Here is the thing. People will either selFTK via burn, or they'll try to deck themselves out or their opponent. Just incentivise winning and be done with it. People might still do it, but as long as it's not more efficient to end yourself than to win

They just need to make the rewards bit less but don't require too much work. Like playing game 50 times, xyz summon 30 times, etc. Current milestone reward is nice idea, just need bit more adjustment (50 destroy and 50 traps bit ridiculous, tho 50 spell trap can be done with self FTK as well)
That way less ppl will grind the event too seriously and will play more for fun as no need grind hard to get full rewards

Yep. You get 100 when you win. 50 if you lose (you don't get ANY points by surrendering if I recall). So of course, this is the quickest way to get medals in general.
personally, i'm having a blast. I've been a part of the meta for a long time (since 2008) and this is the first time i've ever seen anything like this.
honestly, konami should capitalize on this. create a new "first to lose" format. give it it's own banlist and release archetypes designed around losing.

The thing is: I'm actually kinda down for this. When I first started making decks, the two I focused on were Dark Magician and Crusadia. I've got Numbers, Rank 7s, and Utopia support and that's it. Worst case scenario, I play this deck and beat my own ass to get points; best case scenario, I use a neutered Dark Magician deck and watch half my opponents beat their own ass.

Nothing should be done to address the self killing decks, i believe so because while the Xyz festival was meant to be an event to have fun trying other things than the every day growing bored meta, Master duel players shouldn't trim their robes and rather grow ticker skin cause ultimately it will be them the ones whose eventually will cause Konami, on the worst case scenario, to come around reducing the rewards from losing and forcefully make us all to tryhard every damn match. i don't think it's a problem. people will just use the suicide deck until they get to 3200 medals, and after that they will just leave or play the event normally.
Lowering the loss rewards def won't fix this. It'll just make people play less or quit. I do this strat myself and aside from being fun (because thank god for once it's not me running my invoked dogmatika shaddoll against eldlich for the 4th time in plat before getting demoted AGAIN) it's also faster and uses cards I ACTUALLY have. The loaner decks seem to actually be decent, props for that, but I don't run xyz. I run a fusion deck with some beaters thrown in on occasion (doatikas banned to btw for some reason). If I'm gonna lose most of my matches playing by the rules, why WOULDNT I just speed run the process? In the end what needs fixing is the event itself, the way it's handled (I hate eldlich with passion but...maybe banning their whole existence was harsh and just proof they need a minor nerf or rebalance. And forcing players to use deck types were unfamiliar with, let alone have zero investment in because of how valuable UR mats are), and the grind.

This wouldn't have happened if konami did the opposite by getting double point with loaners instead of using a custom deck it puts everybody on a even playing field and makes the event less pay to win at the same time.
A built a classic Pk fire deck. Didn't lose a single one. Also, you get 50 when you lose and 100 when you win.
Also, you don't get as many medals doing this as somebody who wins.. your total earnings will be cut in half
It's literally because we get no rewards anywhere else. If they didn't dry us of gems so hard, then people wouldn't be doing this as much.
It's been a problem for years now since these decks first became popular in DL. I'm not surprised they ended up transitioning to this game too. Many of the players are the same players of DL. lol
The optimal version of this deck plays no monsters so the trap always hits.
I already reached all the necessary levels with self burn, you can have your fun after everyone has farmed out the gems in a timely manner :p
