Another great video! I stand by what I've said in the past that Dead Rising, at its core, is a time management game. The escorting, looking for weapons, mixing juices, fighting bosses, collecting money (DR2), all "waste" the players time in various ways. Some of these (weapons, juices, money) require the player to invest time in the hopes that they're rewarded something that will save them time in the future (mixed drinks, combo weapons, buying zombrex, etc). By trying to make the games more "homogenized" and "accessible" (not to actually disabled people though. Only to the Able who are just picky and use "accessibility issue" as a scapegoat for what they don't like) to the masses, the franchise lost key elements that lent themselves well to the Timer mechanic. I continue to see more and more gamers complain about mechanics that differ from the norm, simply because they're different. For the whole Rebecca not knowing You could technically say Frank discovered his source and wanted to tell Rebecca about it so that they could go to the facility. Maybe Rebecca didn’t know and Frank was gonna tell her and was planning to go to the facility with her.
There's a comic called Road to Fortune City that takes place between 1 and Case 0: Rebecca had recieved word from a source in Phenotrans that they were doing some messed up things and to go to Fortune City, but was discovered and killed before he could share anything too specific. Rebecca and Frank met up to swap notes and agreed to meet with her source. Rebecca got in first while Frank got caught up in traffic from the outbreak. From there, the Phenotrans, posing as the source, gave Rebecca the footage framing Chuck, both diverting attention away from them and making a patsy out of Chuck.
I'd say Case Zero and West still seem fun to play and have a purpose in the story. Hell i wish i could play them on PC. Let's hope DR2 gets a remake in the near future with those DLC's included?
Glad you broke your promise and therefore silence, loved the video. Also didn't think you'd make me get infuriated over a basketball game I'd never consider playing, but you did that too. Good shit
Man is a legend like STiPO in a way and another great youtuber i forget the name of who's less then famous sweet. I love the Dead Rising community, wish it wasn't dead.
Thanks for your continued support like always! If I ever touch DR3 again, it will either be for the DLC or to stream the main game for funsies. No re-reviewing on the table for that particular Dead Rising.
This is half a year late, but i just wanted to say that Case Zero being my first Dead Rising game ever was one of the best introductions to a game series Ive played. From the marketing that I personally saw at the time, it was shown to me as a tutorial/prequel hybrid for the full game. It definitely did prep me for DR2, and is probably the whole reason i got into the series as a whole.
Fucking right dude, that's awesome! I do think it's a neat idea, I just wish it could be seamlessly added to DR2 as the prologue or something. PC should get both DLCs tbh
case zero is something i have always liked it might not be the best but as a fan of the first 2 games it is great when ever i would play 2 from the start i would always replay case zero first then transfer over the 5 levels you get to the main game honestly it would be really nice for both case zero and west to get a pc port honestly its a shame that they did not get ported back when the first game was ported to the PC and ps4
With the way he talks about it you'd think the people that made the game killed his dog or something lmao, the dlc's though I'll agree we're shit 😂 I cannot defend those
Your tirade about ‘the developers should have used the zombrex to subvert expectations in the main game’ was absolutely absurd. Were you being earnest of were you just trying to be profound?
@@Dorkaxe Then it ‘genuinely’ sounds like you like subversions for the sake of having a subversion regardless of substance. It would be even more stupid if you didnt have to give Katie zombrex in Case Zero despite her being bitten just because you wanted to be surprised by some small tiny feature in the main game. Its not like the devs didnt think it through, Case Zero zombrex was the 12-hour prototype, and years later they develop the 24hr version, which is still in line with squeezing the pennies out of the customer. Similarly with your rant about Chuck having a camera in the DLC. Oh gee whizz, did the developers do something to cater to fans after they had been deprived of Frank West for half a decade?!?! How DARE they! Not all fan-catering is bad, and not all subversions are good. Its not the camera system itself, its that they brought it back WITH Frank West. But its still so insignificant that I once again believe you are reaching in this regard. Your argument is specifically that it incentivises online okay. Okay, sure, and what if the servers go down?
I'm open to discussion, but when you start your comment chain claiming I went on a "tirade" about the zombrex, you're already proving to me that you don't want a genuine discussion. You then essentially insult me by chalking my opinions on a video game as me trying to "be profound". As per your second comment, you obviously aren't listening to my video. I already explained that the only zombrex you need for Katey to live is acquired via cutscene. Think about it. Chuck gives Katey zombrex the moment they arrive in Still Creek. He then finds zombrex near the quarantine zone, where he also hears about the military and finds the broken bike. Your task is then to find the bike parts, as you already have the one zombrex needed for katey at 7pm. The extra zombrex is only needed for the survivor. The second paragraph in your second comment feels extremely demeaning as well. "Oh gee whizz, did the developers do something to cater to fans after they had been deprived of Frank West for half a decade?!?! How DARE they" I mean come on man. Why should I give you the time of responding in a cordial manner if you talk to me like that. The camera itself, regardless of if you think fan pandering is okay sometimes, is still dumb as fuck in my eyes. You haven't presented me any reasonable arguments on why my stance should change, you're just saying you disagree a lot, which is fine, but don't expect a detailed response every time you do that.
you know something is bad when you start comparing some of it's features to other failed variations of those features lol. still, a good and consistant review. i am, honestly surprised you do not have more views and subs. consistant commentary and easy to follow review points, which is exactly what a review needs.
I love the 2K in Fable tangent didn't expect it whatsoever. Thought you were going to mention them in passing, because of the pre-release DLC thing and move on. Lol
Frick I love Dead rising 2: Case zero, I remember getting it cause I could afford it, I couldn’t afford DR2 at the time (not in till it became free with gold XD) and played the shit out of it, I love the cutscenes with Katie are really well done in my opinion, and the one that plays if you fail to give her zombrex is heartbreaking. Can’t say much of case west I haven’t played it yet but I’ve always wanted to play it though
Clearly the ending was a teaser for the inevitable dead rising mobile review. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Still can't believe that's a real thing, that and the movies. Capcom you shameless shameless cretins.
Hey dude, I started watching your Dead Rising videos about a year or two ago. Loved all of them and your thoughts on them. I even left long comments on them under a different account. Forgot I wasn't subscribed to you on this account! Glad to see you covered these DLCs! Total nostalgia for both of them. I don't really have much to say about them. I think both of them are very great. I mainly wanted to say that your DR1 analysis inspired me to make a video essay/analysis video on the DR1 psychopaths. Not trying to sound overly prideful, but the video actually became one of my most-viewed videos, so it isn't some cheap imitation. I even mention your video at one point. I was curious to see what your input would be (especially since one of the only respectful and slight disagreements I had with your DR1 video was the psychopath section).
I appreciate you talking about the 2K game. Just makes me glad I never picked it up. Granted, I've never played professional basketball but I did play it growing up. Defense being on me didn't prevent me from making baskets. Just made it a little bit harder to sink those shots. Ironically, the video game is less realistic than real life but in the opposite direction of what you'd expect, essentially putting a hex or curse on your character.
Online works, me and my good friend played it together, I think he was chuck while I was frank, it was me hosting it so it could've been the other way around, didn't even know chuck had a camera. Didn't even think of it, never crossed my mind. I'm not upset about it
I remember back when DR1 was still big shit, there were all these youtube videos of people picking a store and building their own barricades out of benches and chairs and potted plants to make their own zombie survival forts because they enjoyed goofing around in DR1 that much. Totally emergent, unintended gameplay with no actual feedback from the game itself, no hordes would come attack and the few zombies that would aggro would just sort of walk into the barricades. And yet there were dozens and dozens of these videos. Capcom had something magic and they blew it.
Dude holy shit, did I mention that in any of my DR videos at all? If not, that's wild because that's EXACTLY what I used to do as a kid. I built up a big makeshift defensive wall, usually in the restaurant of Paradise Plaza, and acted like it was a tower defense game of sorts. That magic emergent gameplay was so real.
To be fair, Case Zero was absolutely nuts before DR2 got released. Alot of us who had played DR and couldn't wait to play DR2 we're all over this, I remember playing through it like a dozen times before the full game released. Also the reason why it was only released on xbox is because DR was originally an xbox exclusive game.
I played through dead rising 4, completed it and then continued to get achievements/explore/kills zombies WITHOUT EVER DYING. To this day I’ve still not even died on the save, something that should come with the Dead Rising staple was always the difficulty imo which 4 lacked completely
I got to try case west online in its hay day. Case west let frank/player 2 use his signature moves. And some of the combo weapons can only be fully utilized by frank. He also has all his off the record moves. Alot of case wests new content was like a prototype for off the record, just like case zero was the prototype/test demo for dead rising 2. This means you get characters that actually have different abilities and combo weapon attacks based on who your playing which incentivized coop. Id say case wests biggest issue for me was the lack of time i felt able to explore the enviroment. If the time in the middle of cases fit in just another 1 to 2 hours i always thought it would be perfect.
I think you're a little too forgiving on Dead rising ones AI because it was really bad and as much as I love that game I can't sit here and be biased and say that it was a fun challenge because it wasn't I felt like after a while even if you tried to be careful you would end up using up most of your time which would take away from being able to rescue other people and in order to actually like get a completionistrating in that game and to rescue everyone it was next to impossible and at that point it wasn't fun you were just following a strategy guide and essentially just speed running which I don't know I don't really think you should have to speed run something in order to be able to complete it that's kind of lame
i can understand disliking the DLC's case 0 was meant to just be an appetizer for dead rising 2 with case west being... idk a bit more story context? a way to say overtime isnt the canon end to 2? maybe even a definitive way chuck is absolved of the belief he started the outbreak? but what they do great is give more personality to chuck beyond his one liners hes a really caring father which is pretty apparent in 2 but you the dlcs and shoot even dead rising 3 really give alot of weight to chuck as a character
Honestly if they made sections of the map stand out more and fucked with the numbers a bit and removed the mobile locker i think it would have been great.
Only one I wish I child play is case zero. You can take the other one and shove it. Case zero if you didn't know was built off of the remaining demo of deadrising 2 that was released. They just put little effort into it which I agree with. But its also meant to be an unimportant town that is suppose to be abandoned for the most part. But to me case zero as in your words is a prequel to deadrising 2 as a whole anyways. It's gives alittle more context to how Katey gotten biten and what happened to chucks wife. In deadrising 2 all we know is chuck had a wife and didn't know what happened to her. Was she killed? Did she turn into a zombie? How did Katey get bitten in the first place? Case zero answered the questions. An answered the question of how chuck got to fortune city. So I mean for what it was worth it was decent to answer some shit. As for case west. We all could have done without a chuck and frank team up. But if you didn't get to play it. It will leave the questions of the ending to deadrising 3. How did chuck know Isabella? How did chuck know frank? Why did the zombie section have certain information? Who as Lady in the wheel chair and why is she significant to deadrising 3 as a character? An so on. The dlc stories answer some the questions that would be asked and were asked. Along with being some of the connecting points to the next game. I get it if most of the critiques were just game related. Yes they could have done better. But deadrising 2 was built from the ground up with almost no preexisting coding or assets from the first game. So the tram could only do what they were able to. The dlc were built off the same engine. Same models were more ore less used. Same game mechanics. An so on. That's why I said with deadrising 4 and I guess I can say with deadrising 3. New game engines. New models. An so on to make the game work as best as it could. If the games were given alittle more time in the oven like everyone has been wanting for years now bit are still willing to not accept it and want the game ASAP. They could have been better. But we got what we got. Which is about all we can ask for.
I swear the dead rising 2 demo on Xbox was the events of case zero 😵or maybe I'm remembering it wrong but I swear this game was dead rising 2's demo its what made me get DR2.
I played a lot of case west with my friend when it came out, I was always frank and yes you got to use his camera not a disposable. As far as the cameras go, it just felt like something to do to make the game last a little longer And Case Zero, if I remember correctly was only 5 dollars. So for thaf price I felt it was worth it
"survivor should be there at that time" dude this game came out in 2010 and it's literally just a side mission. You're treating this like its the holy grail's distant cousin at a family reunion.
What is your beef with Dead Rising 3? I mean yea its not a DR1 or 2… but i have a feeling you only like 4 more cuz of frank?? Nah dude, you gotta be real with yourself
@@xXslimshady104Xx Yeah, because opinions on a video game when given purposeful and carefully reasonable explanations are definitely something you can be objectively wrong at. Grow up yourself. If someone dislikes the game you love then perhaps you'll find ways to defend your love for it more or are given a chance to broaden your perspective. This was a great dissection of the dlcs and how the changes made here while small and somewhat excusable as dlc started the downward trend 3 and 4's design went down. I don't blame these dlcs, but I can't argue 3&4 were the first time Dead Rising was starting to have it's identity stripped away.
Sorry to be that guy, but case zero and case west are not dlcs. They are standalone games. The purpose of case zero was to release a small demo like prequel to get people into dead rising 2. It was only on xbox which was really big deal at the time. Meaning Sony fans missed out, but it was only 5 dollars which was great value at the time. This really hyped people up like me to buy dead rising 2 asap. I prefer it over the first game because I felt like co-op and combo weapons made it the stand out game. AI was better the amount of things you could do was bigger. Dead rising 1 was a simple game and dead rising 2 built on it. In no way did I feel like dead rising 2 wasn't the perfect follow up. Case west was meant to be a game that moved the actual story forward for dead rising 3. I think the problem was getting microsoft involved with the series. Microsoft lead dead rising 4. I suggest looking at other content creators coverage of this. It's not really this companies fault. They took a lot of money from Microsoft to make 3 and 4. They had less and less control as the series went forward. I played all the dead rising games and bought them day one if not as soon as I could. Nothing makes me happier with the series possibly coming back. I hope people support the new game. Case west and case zero are standalone games that don't require you to own dead rising 2.
That's a good point I suppose, but stand-alone DLCs have been a thing before. I'm not sure I'd say the term DLC implies you need to own the game attached to it, but I can see the argument.
It's a shame that capcom didn't implement save feature from CZ to 2 remastered on xbox series. I know it's only a few combo cards and lvl 5 but i was still cool feature in 2010.
I'm an absolute baby TH-camr, but Deadrising is half of my focal content to make- and I absolutely love Deadrising 1 and Deadrising 2 + it's DLC. I got the chance to work with Peter Flemming, Chuck Greene's voice actor, and he is such an awesome guy! My time working with him honestly made me a bit of a Deadrising 2 fanboy. To me, 1 and 2 are equally good for different reasons. They both at least feel like Deadrising. 3 and 4 are trash lol.
Bro for real like as soon as i heard this it made me feel like hes a wanna be dead rising fan lol for 3 was the last true dead rising game even despite the not escorting the survivors but u can hire them as a buddy lol and the time limit even theres technically one cause u have 7 days to fox a plane lol where as dr 4 was lets solve this mutant exo zombie soldier problem lol
I love your videos about dead rising helps give me more insight on why people like these games because I can only get into DR2 and not the 1st one because of the damn jeep in the courtyard

He is definitely overreacting
He finally did the DLC 😍 My man is a people pleaser
It's kinda disrespect to call this game a DLC
@@mrstickanimator527 this is dlc though?????
@@mrstickanimator527 exactly. We should be calling these dead rising 3 and 4.
Case west has one of my favourite scenes in the whole franchise when frank and Chuck high five
love the videos Dorkaxe keep up the great work cant wait for another game series or more content on DR1 and DR2
Good shit
The Fact these weren't included in a Game of the Year /Ultimate Version on PC is FRUSTRATING!!!!! WHHHYYY CAPCOM, WHY MICROSOFT.
Yo that 2k review and the dead rising review is something I wasn’t expecting in my lifetime
The Morning after and Handle with Care as Mission names? They where really into Thrash Metal.
Everytime I watched one of this dudes dead rising reviews I feel like he just hates the entire series
Well no he likes dead rising 1 and 2! Thats about it
Nah he’s valid 1 and 2 are the only good ones
When the entire series beside 1 and 2 is garbage, It’s pretty understandable
Man is a legend like STiPO in a way and another great youtuber i forget the name of who's less then famous sweet. I love the Dead Rising community, wish it wasn't dead.
Whats cool was how Frank had his old moves from DR1!
I wish these couldve been remastered as well would be fun to play
Am i the only one? 🤔
Hell nah, they definitely should have been. Would have been nice if they fit inside DR2 itself in the menu or something.
I hope my guy keeps grinding. I don't watch every video. But everyone I watch I love. Keep the vibes flowing
Wasn't a big ball of sunshine and rainbows but as usual I appreciate your views. Still waiting to be called for that DR3 re-review co-op collab
Thanks for your continued support like always! If I ever touch DR3 again, it will either be for the DLC or to stream the main game for funsies. No re-reviewing on the table for that particular Dead Rising.
@@Dorkaxe fine the super fun dead rising 3 drunk co-op stream
Case West's final boss is Mutahar from SOG
You’re far to harsh on DR3.
Completely agree
I’m with you, DR3 wasn’t that bad
I agree 3 is fun
With the way he talks about it you'd think the people that made the game killed his dog or something lmao, the dlc's though I'll agree we're shit 😂 I cannot defend those
I don’t even remember disliking DR3 tbh
Hey man just found this series and I’ve been binging every video, I love your outlook on things keep up the good work

And that, is the "Franchise Original Sin" Trope in a nutshell.
As always your in-depth and amazing analysis of games is really something and such a fun and enjoyable watch!
KEEP IT UP!! :)
Hot take: I like 1, 2, and 3. I like 2 more than 1, and 1 more than 3. But, I got 3 on sale for like 10 bucks and really enjoyed my time with it.
I absolutely loved DR2, this series was amazing (the reason I subscribed) and a great trip down memory lane! Thank you!
Your tirade about ‘the developers should have used the zombrex to subvert expectations in the main game’ was absolutely absurd. Were you being earnest of were you just trying to be profound?
Those are my genuine opinions, take it or leave it.
@@lyleinnoe2210 good lord my guy relax
@@Dorkaxe Eh? Relax about what? Did you even read my comment? Didn’t you say in your own video that you are open to discussion?
YES IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS NEVERTHELESS WAITING FOR ANOTHER VIDEO IN GENERAL
Love to hear it! Hope you caught my spartan total warrior video I uploaded last week as well.
Chuck and Frank together are the perfect duo. This is why Case West is so awesome. Full game should have been them 2.
Love the diversity in the scope of the games you covered. Never knew 2k had a draft combine dlc, also totally forgot about these dlcs
you know something is bad when you start comparing some of it's features to other failed variations of those features lol.
still, a good and consistant review. i am, honestly surprised you do not have more views and subs. consistant commentary and easy to follow review points, which is exactly what a review needs.

Welcome back.
I look away for one second and suddenly i'm watching a basketball game review... nice!
Clearly the ending was a teaser for the inevitable dead rising mobile review. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I'll check it out, dope! Thanks for letting me know, I love hearing stuff like this.
I honestly thought you just didn’t realize this existed then I know you talked about it and just felt like you didn’t need a video.
In Dead Rising 4 we dont play as Frank West. We play as Frank Yeast #NotmyFrankWest
He's actually hank east
Unplug my headphones for 2 seconds an he playing 2k wtf
I played through dead rising 4, completed it and then continued to get achievements/explore/kills zombies WITHOUT EVER DYING. To this day I’ve still not even died on the save, something that should come with the Dead Rising staple was always the difficulty imo which 4 lacked completely
You've got alot of potential.
I enjoyed both dlcs
how can i get my hands on these dlcs? i have wanted to try them out for so many years
Dead rising 3 is great I don't care what people say. 4 is hot garbage but 3 was awesome and had a more serious story in line with the first game
Dead rising 4 is much much worst then dead rising 3
Was too broke to afford any of them and played the first day of case zero for hours on ends
Cas3 zero's boss Jed is memorable simply because his them song is awesome
I think you're a little too forgiving on Dead rising ones AI because it was really bad and as much as I love that game I can't sit here and be biased and say that it was a fun challenge because it wasn't I felt like after a while even if you tried to be careful you would end up using up most of your time which would take away from being able to rescue other people and in order to actually like get a completionistrating in that game and to rescue everyone it was next to impossible and at that point it wasn't fun you were just following a strategy guide and essentially just speed running which I don't know I don't really think you should have to speed run something in order to be able to complete it that's kind of lame
I’m so glad I found your channel! Also, can’t wait for the EA battlefront II video! :)
Wonderwoman emoted on the edge right before you killt her
i can understand disliking the DLC's case 0 was meant to just be an appetizer for dead rising 2 with case west being... idk a bit more story context? a way to say overtime isnt the canon end to 2? maybe even a definitive way chuck is absolved of the belief he started the outbreak? but what they do great is give more personality to chuck beyond his one liners hes a really caring father which is pretty apparent in 2 but you the dlcs and shoot even dead rising 3 really give alot of weight to chuck as a character
Came for the Dead Rising reviews, stayed for the 2K10 review.
I like every dead rising game before dead rising 4, I find 3 really fun and enjoy nick as a protag though he's no chuck or ofcourse frank
Honestly if they made sections of the map stand out more and fucked with the numbers a bit and removed the mobile locker i think it would have been great.
@@chrisscott3071why remove the mobile locker?
that outro freaked me out my name is nick lmfao
I hate that I can never play Case Zero because it's trapped on old hardware. My best be would have to be emulation.
As far as the cameras go, it just felt like something to do to make the game last a little longer
And Case Zero, if I remember correctly was only 5 dollars. So for thaf price I felt it was worth it
I love that you took a minute to roast 2K
What's wrong with dr3? It has the best gameplay out of all of them
"survivor should be there at that time"
dude this game came out in 2010 and it's literally just a side mission. You're treating this like its the holy grail's distant cousin at a family reunion.
What is your beef with Dead Rising 3? I mean yea its not a DR1 or 2… but i have a feeling you only like 4 more cuz of frank?? Nah dude, you gotta be real with yourself
I mean he did a video about 2 hours long about why he didn't like it. "be real with yourself" yes okay, poon slayer..

Just see it as a win win. If someone likes the same game as you then perhaps you'll find new ways to explain the love you have for it. If someone dislikes the game you love then perhaps you'll find ways to defend your love for it more or are given a chance to broaden your perspective. Good video. Subbed
I think Segway of the Dead needs a full release.
Epic exclusive perhaps?
It feels disrespectful to call these game a DLC
Wasn't case zero before dead rising 2 like it was the demo wasn't it
This was a great serious
Tbf if frank could use the camera and only chuck could make weapons and you could pick between the two would have been better
Hooray! Someone else agrees! lol
I like how this turned into a mini 2K review/rant
I would have played as Frank for the DLC lmao. I make my friend download it sometimes so I can play as Frank
Case zero was my fav dlc
Have You Read The Dead Rising Comics?
Peter Flemming seems like a cool dude, that must have been rad!
to act like deadrising 3 is just as bad as deadrising 4 is a wild take
Bro for real like as soon as i heard this it made me feel like hes a wanna be dead rising fan lol for 3 was the last true dead rising game even despite the not escorting the survivors but u can hire them as a buddy lol and the time limit even theres technically one cause u have 7 days to fox a plane lol where as dr 4 was lets solve this mutant exo zombie soldier problem lol
I love your videos about dead rising helps give me more insight on why people like these games because I can only get into DR2 and not the 1st one because of the damn jeep in the courtyard
If you haven't already you gotta play deus ex games. You really seem to like the ideas behind the immersive sim genre
Just to be clear- Case 0 wasn't just dlc, it came out like a month or so before DR2 as a way to build hype up. This review makes it sound like it came after which isn't the case.
