Last year my wife bought a Savage MKII BTV. We put a good Leopold scope on it that was in my safe for years. I was amazed with the accuracy of the rifle. So, I sought out one for myself, and bought a used MKII BTV with the thumbhole stock. It came with a BSA Sweet 22 scope. I thought I would eventually replace the scope, but took it to the range as I got it. It was also 1-hole-5-shot-groups-at-50-yards accurate! I left the scope on it and have since tested it thoroughly. The scope tracks perfectly, returns to zero and the BDC works great! I didn't drop test it or submerge it in water, or freeze it...because, WHY?!?!?! It's a range gun, we use them for fun informal target shooting or plinking at 50-100 yards. I am sure the scope would be fine for small game hunting also, if that was your intent. The scope is a bargain!
Looking good. These are great old guns! You made a fantastic deal on it. The finger grooves will stay in good shape as long as they are kept out of high heat & freezing cold for long period of time. People that stored them in the attic often find them warped or broken. If at some point you'd like to remove the oil stain on the front of the forearm there are many videos available showing how to lift that oil from the stock using alcohol
@crankygunreviews I love the old wood and steel guns. The plastic ones serve the purpose the the beauty of old wood and steel stand the test of time brother. Nice work
@@crankygunreviews Permablue, I saw it after I sent you the message. I use Dicropan IM. The process is a lot longer but it does a much better job and will not wear off. I have a video restoring a Remington model 31 12ga showing the entire process.
Hey again i bought the side mounting. Im waiting to get it. But in the mean time i was wonderig how wide the scope rings mounting is to fit on the mounting. 11mm ore 20mm?
th-cam.com/video/eN9QrBIzhDE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cNGwdpFcoOiRVdwb If you have some spare time, could you please give me your thoughts on this rifle? It's a 42 but very similar to the 44. My biggest concern is the trigger, firing pin issue.
@@chrislang5659 I commented on your video - you are missing the piece that adjusts the trigger tension. They are avialable on ebay, I gave you some keywords to search. My 44US build had the same issue when I got it, mine was just too loose. Yours is missing.
That old mossberg turned out great good job cranky
Thanks 👍 it’s a 22 though so is it even a real gun? Lol
@crankygunreviews not in my book lol.

@@garyK.45ACP I have another one of these scopes and they work well. The Mark II rifles are great for the money!
@@crankygunreviews I agree. Both the Savage MKII and the BSA Sweet 22 are bargains.
Yep!
Looks great. I love reviving old firearms.
Thanks! Me too!

Couldn’t agree more- though my 10/22 takedown with backpacker stock is pretty amazing

They’re standard picatinny 1913 style rings, not a 3/8 dovetail,
