      Hi! This is 1/2 cup Sugar, 1/2 cup of whey ( the clear liquid that separates from your yogurt or cheese), juice of 1/2 dozen lemons & 1/2 tsp of nutmeg, and top off with water. I keep it a cool dark cabinet for at least 24 hours, to ferment. Then store it in the fridge once it get to the flavor I like. :) Super easy, and so good for you! Thanks for watching!! 🎄🎅😊

    Can you add the lemons to the jar after you juiced them?

    • @HomesteadCorner
      @HomesteadCorner  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I have not tried that. I usually use the peals to make lemon extract or dry for lemon powder.

    How amount did I need for a small jar? Also lemon juice with the left stuff on it?

    • @HomesteadCorner
      @HomesteadCorner  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could cut the recipe in half and make it in a quart..... 🙂 I cut up the left over skins and parts and dehydrate for a lemon powder, or make lemon extract.

    how do you make "way"

    • @Mchem1st
      @Mchem1st 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Eric Wedderspoon whey is a byproduct of cheese and yogurt making, but you can get it from store bought yogurt by straining it (I.e. with a cheesecloth). The liquid that comes out is Whey, and after several hours/overnight the leftover yogurt will have become thick greek yogurt. Win-win!

    yeast makes gases, the glass did not explode without a burper?

    • @HomesteadCorner
      @HomesteadCorner  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No , we did not tighten the lid, so the gases can escape.

    I’m here because I was wondering if I could use the whey from the ricotta cheese I made. That thought was shot down in the first minute. Thanks. Gonna go get some yogurt n try this.

    Is this fermented lemonade kind of like making an alcoholic drink?

    • @HomesteadCorner

      If you kept it going and added more sugar you could do that. 😉

  • @Mojosfire

    Hello, your video is excellent, but I have a question. I cannot have sugar, can stevia be used in place of sugar?

    • @Mojosfire
      @Mojosfire 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @normajeanslagel4633
      @normajeanslagel4633 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The fermentation will eat up all the sugar in the process. Afterward you should be able to add stevia if you like!
