This is just becoming so beautiful! A great place to write intimate thoughts and do some ephemera gluing! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration!!

Thanks as always for sharing your process Seth -- no one makes art the way you do and a little bit of it rubs off on us when we watch 💚💙💜

Wait a second. How is this art? What's the point? Is the point to render a notebook unusable? Does the book itself become an interactive peice? Or does one then use pages from it as a background on cards or something? I truly do not get it at all. I don't mean to come off as cynical. I just truly do not get it. By this standard it seems to me driving over this notebook with mud on the tires is art to you people. If you claim it is anyway.
What does he do with the notebook after he's done randomly covering it with paint? Does he write in it? Can he? Would you call a 4 year old in kindergarten who covers his notebook in paint an artist or would you be upset that he ruined his notebook and now you must buy another? Be honest.

Hey Phillip. A good question and I totally get. Sometimes I ask myself the same thing LOL. Art is totally subjective and many people don't quite get mixed media for sure. Different people express creativity in different ways and this is just my jam. Nothing more, nothing less. This notebook - and everything I make - isn't meant to be functional in the same way that art on the wall isn't functional. It just is. I don't need to have everybody understand what I make and I sure don't assume everybody will like it. As for the 4 year old you speak about...totally wouldn't be upset and I would encourage him/her to paint more. I cannot tell you how many adults I teach in art classes that had somebody react negatively to them creating as a kid and it shut them down for years. Glad you asked the questions and shared your thoughts. It really made me think!!

@@SethApter thank you for the reply. I love mixed media art. Especially prices that convey emotion. I just didn't understand the whole notebook thing. If it was meant to be used afterward, I'd it wasn't, how if it was, etc. To each their own I say, but with that comes the responsibility of being able to explain oneself and what it is they hope to express. If it's nothingness, just a way of making money than that's fine too. Thanks for the reply.

Gathering up some scraps to play with. Going to make my own book, though.

Why did you take a usable notebook and make it unusable?
