The funny thing is, the only reason this is working so well is that people don't know how to play in 2010's meta lmao
This era is all about backrow and backrow removal. Cards like Breaker, MST, Seven Tools, My Body as a Shield, Trap Stun, Giant Trunade (UR and forbidden in modern format, sadly) and maybe even Double Cyclone if you're playing a deck that can capitalize on it like a machine deck with Geartown are an absolute must. There's a reason why almost every good removal trap like Bottomless and Mirror Force were limited or semi-limited, they were just too good back then. And as for cards like Pachy and statues... literally just beat over them, this is not modern yugioh so you don't need any fancy tricks for those. Still, it's a fun deck and it's way more interactive than it's modern counterpart when played against actually decent players.

Yes, I was quite lucky. The guy directly across my street had half his roof blown off. There are still a few without power and lots of people with damage to their homes, but no one was seriously injured, thankfully 💪.

all it takes is just one N/R event re-run or remake and half of the playerbase that left would come back or a permanent N/R ranked play/hardcore ranked play.

I play consistently and that is unlikely to change as I still enjoy the modern format.
If they made 2010 mode a permanent feature, I would play on the ladder a lot less. That's my guess as to why MD will not get such an update despite how popular such a mode would be.
Especially since there'd be little reason to buy gems for selection packs.
