My Dad always wanted a Rolex. He knew the value of money and with having a family and bills and things to pay for never indulged himself in buying one. He passed away in 2015 having never purchased one. A good 30-40 years ago he had completed a job for a guy who wanted rid of a huge gold bracelet (disgusting Jimmy saville type) The guy offered my Dad payment in cash for the job or offer of the bracelet.... Dad took the bracelet. Anyways, all these years later it was worth a tidy sum, but my Mum absolutely hated it, so she trotted off to our local Rolex dealer, weighed the horrid bracelet in and swapped it for a 2018 Rolex Explorer 2. She gave it to me on my 36th birthday. I don't care if it fluctuates in value, it is a great present to remember my old man by! Yepyepyep

However, I do like these videos because they're like a sit down and chat type video, it contrasts very nicely with the hyped up car content that we all love. So keep doing them for the people that love watches and the people who just stick around to learn something, like myself.
Love the watch talk...love this watch. Similar to you I bought a date just when I got my first proper job in the city. Looking towards my next one and have had my eyes on either Hulk Submariner and yachtmaster oysterflex. Hulk will hold value better but love the oysteflex bracelets!
The Hulk is a beautiful sub however if I would consider also the Kermit as it is slowly raising on value and personally I love the two contrasting colours however you can't go wrong with any of these watches.
As a fashion student I shall break it down, for formal wear: - Morning Dress (tail coat, waistcoat, should be Grey, Black or Navy, top hat completes look but not always mandatory) - Black Tie Evening wear (Dinner Jacket or ‘tuxedo’ if you’re American, Black dress trousers and black bow tie. Jacket can be coloured but really it’s best to wear a tailored jacket in black) black tie is more formal than ‘business dress’ but less formal than ‘white tie’ and is typically applied to events after 7pm - White Tie or full evening wear is the most formal dress code. It consists of full black tail coat, starched white shirt, high waist black trousers and black leather shoes. A marcella waistcoats should be worn with the titular white bow tie and a detachable collar. (That’s the one with the little triangle folds at the front as opposed to the full fold down collar) Accessories such as top hat and white scarf can be worn but aren’t required. Breitling, Tag Heuer. I bought a Bentley Breitling for my 50th, used of course. It cost me money to fix when the bezel broke off. The Tag I bought new in 1991 a pilots chronograph. Blue outside and blue dials on white face inside. Love it. Love Rolex. Still on my radar. Nice content. Cheers.

The Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller still exists. It has not been discontinued. You can find it on www.rolex.com. It has just been refreshed with the new 3235 movement. You can get it in both black dial or blue-to-black graduated (aka James Cameron version) dial.

Great video, your story is similar to my first proper watch, it was an omega 50th anniversary speedmaster, I looked at that and a 16610lv but was put off the LV because of the bracelet clasp (at the time 2007 it was £1000 more than the speedy @ £3200 retail). I just wish I got both at the time! Keep up the content, i would like a HODINKEE style review of your collection.

There never was a 50th anniversary sub. It came out on the 50th anniversary, but it was never sold as a 50th anniversary watch. It is, however, the original "kermit".
